Chapter 24 of Ezekiel—New World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ And the word of Jehovah continued to occur to me in the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth [day] of the month, saying:
  2. “Son of man, write down for yourself the name of the day, this selfsame day. The king of Babylon has thrown himself against Jerusalem on this selfsame day.1
  3. And compose a proverbial saying concerning the rebellious house,2 and you must say concerning them,
    ¶ “‘This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said: “Put the widemouthed cooking pot on; put [it] on, and also pour water into it.3
  4. Gather pieces in it,4 every good piece, thigh and shoulder; fill [it] even with the choicest bones.
  5. Let there be a taking of the choicest sheep,5 and also stack the logs[a] in a circle under it. Boil its pieces,[b] also cook its bones in the midst of it.”’”6
  6. ¶ “Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said, ‘Woe to the city of deeds of bloodshed,[c]7 the widemouthed cooking pot, the rust of which is in it, and the very rust of which has not gone forth from it! Piece by piece of it, bring it out;8 no lot must be cast over it.9
  7. For its very blood has come to be right in the midst of it.10 Upon the shining, bare surface of a crag she placed it. She did not pour it out upon the earth, in order to cover it over with dust.11
  8. In order to bring up rage for the executing of vengeance,12 I have put her blood upon the shining, bare surface of a crag, in order that it may not be covered over.’13
  9. ¶ “Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said, ‘Woe to the city of deeds of bloodshed!14 I myself also shall make the pile great.15
  10. Make the logs many. Kindle the fire. Boil the flesh thoroughly. And empty out the broth,[d] and let the bones themselves become piping hot.
  11. Stand it[e] empty upon its coals in order that it may get hot; and its copper must become heated up, and its uncleanness must be liquefied in the midst of it.16 Let its rust get consumed.17
  12. Troubles! It has made [one] tired, but the great amount of its rust does not go forth from it.18 Into [the] fire with its rust!’
  13. ¶ “‘There was loose conduct in your[f] uncleanness.19 For that reason I had to cleanse you, but you did not become clean from your uncleanness.20 You will become clean no more until I cause my rage to come to its rest in your case.21
  14. I myself, Jehovah, have spoken.22 It must come,23 and I will act. I shall not neglect,24 neither shall I feel sorry25 nor feel regret.26 According to your ways and according to your dealings they[g] will certainly judge you,’27 is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah.”
  15. ¶ And the word of Jehovah continued to occur to me, saying:
  16. “Son of man, here I am taking away from you the thing desirable28 to your eyes by a blow,29 and you should not beat your breast, neither should you weep nor should your tears come on.30
  17. Sigh without words.[h] For the dead ones no mourning should you make.31 Your headdress bind on yourself,32 and your sandals you should put upon your feet.33 And you should not cover over [the] mustache,[i]34 and the bread of men you should not eat.”35
  18. ¶ And I proceeded to speak to the people in the morning, and my wife gradually died in the evening. So I did in the morning just as I had been commanded.
  19. And the people kept saying to me: “Will you not tell us what these things have to do with us, that you are doing?”36
  20. Then I said to them: “The very word of Jehovah has occurred to me, saying,
  21. ‘Say to the house of Israel: “This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said, ‘Here I am profaning my sanctuary,37 the pride of YOUR strength,38 the thing desirable to YOUR eyes39 and the object of YOUR soul’s compassion, and YOUR sons and YOUR daughters whom YOU people have left behind—by the sword they will fall.40
  22. And YOU will have to do just as I have done. Mustaches[j] YOU will not cover over,41 and the bread of men YOU will not eat.42
  23. And YOUR headdress will be on YOUR heads, and YOUR sandals be upon YOUR feet. YOU will not beat yourselves nor will YOU weep,43 and YOU will have to rot away in YOUR errors,44 and YOU will actually groan over one another.45
  24. And Ezekiel has become for YOU a portent.46 In accord with all that he has done, YOU will do. When it comes,47 YOU will also have to know that I am the Sovereign Lord Jehovah.’”’”48
  25. ¶ “And as for you, O son of man, will it not be in the day of my taking away from them their fortress, the beautiful object of their exultation, the thing desirable to their eyes49 and the longing of their soul, their sons and their daughters,50 that
  26. in that day there will come to you the escaped one for making the ears hear?51
  27. In that day your mouth will be opened to the escaped one,52 and you will speak and be mute no longer;53 and you will certainly become to them a portent,54 and they will have to know that I am Jehovah.”55

    The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

    Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

    15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

    15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible,whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things,and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

    The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

      Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

      Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

      Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

      Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

    Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

      The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

    Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

    As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
    New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

    In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
    "There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
    And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
    "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

      Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

      As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

      Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

      Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

      Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

      I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

      I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

      What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

      We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

      Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

      Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
