Chapter 21 of Ezekiel—New World Translation (NWT)

  1. [a] And the word of Jehovah continued to occur to me, saying:
  2. “Son of man, set your face toward Jerusalem and drip1 [words] toward the holy places,2 and prophesy against the soil of Israel.3
  3. And you must say to the soil of Israel, ‘This is what Jehovah has said: “Here I am against you,4 and I will bring forth my sword out of its sheath5 and cut off from you righteous one and wicked one.6
  4. In order that I may actually cut off from you righteous one and wicked one, therefore my sword will go forth from its sheath against all flesh from south to north.7
  5. And all those of flesh will have to know that I myself, Jehovah, have brought forth my sword from its sheath.8 No more will it go back.”’9
  6. ¶ “And as for you, O son of man, sigh with shaking hips.[b]10 Even with bitterness you should sigh before their eyes.11
  7. And it must occur that, in case they say to you, ‘On account of what are you sighing?’12 you must say, ‘At a report.’13 For it will certainly come,14 and every heart must melt15 and all hands must drop down and every spirit must become dejected and all knees themselves will drip with water.[c]16 ‘Look! It will certainly come17 and be brought to occur,’ is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah.”
  8. ¶ And the word of Jehovah continued to occur to me, saying:
  9. “Son of man, prophesy, and you must say, ‘This is what Jehovah[d] has said: “Say, ‘A sword, a sword!18 It has been sharpened,19 and it is also polished.
  10. For the purpose of organizing a slaughter it has been sharpened; for the purpose of its getting a glitter[e] it has been polished.’”’”20
    ¶ “Or shall we exult?”21
    ¶ “‘Is it rejecting the scepter22 of my own son,23 as [it does] every tree?24
  11. ¶ “‘And one gives it to be polished, in order to wield [it] with the hand. It—a sword has been sharpened, and it—it has been polished, in order to give it into the hand of a killer.25
  12. ¶ “‘Cry out and howl,26 O son of man, for it itself has come to be against my people;27 it is against all the chieftains of Israel.28 The very ones hurled to the sword have come to be with my people.29 Therefore make a slap on [the] thigh.30
  13. For an extermination has been made,31 and what [of it] if it is rejecting also the scepter?32 This[f] will not continue existing,’33 is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah.
  14. ¶ “And you, O son of man—prophesy, and strike palm against palm,34 and ‘A sword!’ should be repeated for three times.35 The sword of the slain ones it is. It is the sword of someone slain who is great, which is making an encirclement of them.36
  15. In order for the heart to melt37 and [in order] to multiply those who are overthrown at all their gates,38 I will make a slaughter by the sword. Alas, it is made for a glittering,[g] polished for a slaughter!39
  16. Show yourself sharp;[h]40 go to the right! Set your position; go to the left! To wherever your face is directed!
  17. And I myself also shall strike my one palm against my other palm,41 and I will bring my rage42 to its rest.43 I myself, Jehovah, have spoken.”
  18. ¶ And the word of Jehovah continued to occur to me, saying:
  19. “And as for you, O son of man, set for yourself two ways for the sword of the king of Babylon[i] to enter.44 From the one land both of them should go forth, and an [index] hand should be cut out;45 at the head of the way to the city it should be cut out.[j]
  20. A way you should set for [the] sword to enter against Rabʹbah46 of the sons of Amʹmon, and [one] against Judah, against Jerusalem fortified.47
  21. For the king of Babylon stood still at the crossways,[k] at the head of the two ways, in order to resort to divination.48 He has shaken the arrows. He has asked by means of the teraphim;[l]49 he has looked into the liver.
  22. In his right hand the divination proved to be for Jerusalem, to set battering rams,50 to open one’s mouth for a slaying,[m] to raise the sound in an alarm signal,51 to set battering rams against gates, to throw up a siege rampart, to build a siege wall.52
  23. And it has become to them like an untrue divination in their eyes53—those who are sworn with oaths to them;54 and he is calling error to remembrance,55 in order [for them] to be caught.56
  24. ¶ “Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said, ‘By reason of YOUR causing YOUR error to be remembered by YOUR transgressions being uncovered, in order that YOUR sins may be seen according to all YOUR dealings, by reason of YOUR being called to remembrance57 YOU people will be seized even by the hand.’58
  25. ¶ “And as for you, O deadly wounded, wicked chieftain59 of Israel,60 whose day has come in the time of the error of [the] end,61
  26. this is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said, ‘Remove the turban, and lift off the crown.62 This[n] will not be the same.[o]63 Put on high even what is low,64 and bring low even the high one.65
  27. A ruin, a ruin, a ruin[p] I shall make it.[q]66 As for this[r] also, it will certainly become no [one’s] until he comes who has the legal right,67 and I must give [it][s] to him.’68
  28. ¶ “And you, O son of man, prophesy, and you must say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said concerning the sons of Amʹmon and concerning the reproach from them.’ And you must say, ‘A sword, a sword drawn for a slaughter, polished to cause [it] to devour,[t] in order to glitter,69
  29. because of [their] beholding for you[u] an unreality, because of [their] divining for you a lie,70 in order to put you on the necks of the slain ones, the wicked men whose day has come in the time of the error of [the] end.71
  30. Return [it] to its sheath. In the place that you were created, in the land of your origin,72 I shall judge you.
  31. And I will pour out upon you my denunciation. With the fire of my fury I shall blow upon you,73 and I will give you into the hand of men who are unreasoning, the craftsmen of ruination.74
  32. For the fire you will become fuel.75 Your own blood will prove to be in the midst of the land. You will not be remembered, for I myself, Jehovah, have spoken.’”76

    The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

    Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

    15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

    15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible,whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things,and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

    The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

      Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

      Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

    Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

    Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

    As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
    New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

    In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
    "There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
    And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
    "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

      Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

      As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

      Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

      Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

      Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

      I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

      I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

      What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

      We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

      Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

      Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
