Chapter 20 of EzekielNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Now it came about in the seventh year, in the fifth [month], on the tenth [day] of the month, [that] men from the elderly ones of Israel came in to inquire of Jehovah,1 and they proceeded to sit down before me.2
  2. Then the word of Jehovah occurred to me, saying:
  3. “Son of man, speak with the elderly men of Israel, and you must say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said: “Is it in order to inquire of me that YOU men are coming?3 ‘As I am alive, I will not be inquired of by[a] YOU,’4 is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah.”’
  4. ¶ “Will you judge them? Will you judge [them], O son of man?5 Cause them to know the detestable things of their forefathers.6
  5. And you must say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said: “In the day of my choosing Israel,7 I also proceeded to lift up my hand8 [in an oath] to the seed of the house of Jacob9 and to make myself known to them in the land of Egypt.10 Yes, I proceeded to lift up my hand [in an oath] to them, saying, ‘I am Jehovah YOUR God.’[b]11
  6. In that day I lifted up my hand12 [in an oath] to them to bring them forth from the land of Egypt to a land that I had spied out for them, one flowing with milk and honey.13 It was the decoration of all the lands.14
  7. And I went on to say to them, ‘Throw away, each one of YOU, the disgusting things of his eyes,15 and with the dungy idols of Egypt do not defile yourselves.16 I am Jehovah YOUR God.’17
  8. ¶ “‘“And they began to rebel against me,18 and they did not consent to listen to me. The disgusting things of their eyes they did not individually throw away, and the dungy idols of Egypt they did not leave,19 so that I promised[c] to pour out my rage upon them, in order to bring my anger to its finish upon them in the midst of the land of Egypt.20
  9. And I went acting for the sake of my own name that [it] might not be profaned before the eyes of the nations in among whom they were,21 because I had made myself known to them before their eyes on bringing them forth from the land of Egypt.22
  10. So I brought them forth from the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness.23
  11. ¶ “‘“And I proceeded to give them my statutes;24 and my judicial decisions25 I made known to them, in order that the man[d] who keeps doing them might also keep living by them.26
  12. And my sabbaths I also gave to them,27 to become a sign between me and them,28 in order [for them] to know that I am Jehovah who is sanctifying them.[e]
  13. ¶ “‘“But they, the house of Israel, rebelled against me in the wilderness.29 In my statutes they did not walk,30 and my judicial decisions they rejected,31 which, should the man keep doing, he will also keep living by them.32 And my sabbaths they profaned very much,33 so that I promised[f] to pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, in order to exterminate them.34
  14. But I acted for the sake of my own name that [it] might not be profaned before the eyes of the nations, before whose eyes I had brought them forth.35
  15. And I myself also lifted up my hand [in an oath] to them in the wilderness,36 not to bring them into the land that I had given, one flowing with milk and honey,37 (it is the decoration of all the lands,)38
  16. for the reason that they rejected my own judicial decisions; and as regards my statutes, they did not walk in them, and my sabbaths they profaned, because it was after their dungy idols that their heart was going.39
  17. ¶ “‘“And my eye began to feel sorry for them [to keep me] from bringing them to ruin,40 and I did not make an extermination of them in the wilderness.
  18. And I proceeded to say to their sons in the wilderness,41 ‘In the regulations of your forefathers do not YOU walk,42 and their judgments do not YOU keep,43 and with their dungy idols do not YOU defile yourselves.44
  19. I am Jehovah YOUR God.[g]45 Walk in my own statutes,46 and keep my own judicial decisions[h]47 and do them.48
  20. And sanctify my own sabbaths,49 and they must serve as a sign between me and YOU, [for YOU] to know that I am Jehovah YOUR God.’50
  21. ¶ “‘“And the sons began to rebel against me.51 In my statutes they did not walk, and my judicial decisions they did not keep by doing them, which, should the man[i] keep doing, he will also keep living by them.52 My sabbaths they profaned.53 So I promised[j] to pour out my rage upon them, in order to bring my anger to its finish upon them in the wilderness.54
  22. And I drew back my hand55 and went acting for the sake of my own name, that [it] should not be profaned before the eyes of the nations, before whose eyes I had brought them out.56
  23. Also, I myself lifted up my hand [in an oath] to them in the wilderness,57 to scatter them among the nations and to disperse them among the lands,58
  24. for the reason that they did not carry out my own judicial decisions59 and they rejected my own statutes60 and they profaned my own sabbaths,61 and it was after the dungy idols of their forefathers that their eyes proved to be.62
  25. And I myself also let them have[k] regulations that were not good and judicial decisions by which they could not keep living.63
  26. And I would let them become defiled[l] by their gifts when [they] made every child opening the womb pass through [the fire],64 in order that I might make them desolate, in order that they might know that I am Jehovah.”’65
  27. ¶ “Therefore speak to the house of Israel, O son of man, and you must say to them,66 ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said: “Yet in this respect, YOUR forefathers spoke abusively of me, in their acting against me with unfaithfulness.67
  28. And I proceeded to bring them into the land68 that I had lifted up my hand [in an oath] to give them.69 When they got to see every exalted hill70 and every branchy tree, then they began sacrificing there their sacrifices71 and giving there their offensive offering, and presenting there their restful[m] odors72 and pouring out there their drink offerings.73
  29. So I said to them, ‘What does the high place mean to which YOU are coming, that its name should be called a High Place[n] down to this day?’”’74
  30. ¶ “Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said: “In the way of YOUR forefathers are YOU people defiling yourselves,75 and after their disgusting things are YOU going in immoral intercourse?76
  31. And in lifting up YOUR gifts by making YOUR sons pass through the fire,77 are YOU defiling yourselves for all YOUR dungy idols down till today?78 At the same time shall I myself be inquired of by YOU people, O house of Israel?”’79
¶ “‘As I am alive,’ is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah, ‘I will not be inquired of by YOU.80
  32. And that which is coming up into YOUR spirit81 will itself positively not happen,82 in that YOU are saying: “Let us become like the nations, like the families of the lands,83 in ministering to wood and stone.”’”84
  33. ¶ “‘As I am alive,’ is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah, ‘it will be with a strong hand and with a stretched-out arm85 and with outpoured rage that I will rule as king over YOU people.86
  34. And I will bring YOU forth from the peoples, and I will collect YOU together out of the lands to which YOU have been scattered with a strong hand and with a stretched-out arm and with outpoured rage.87
  35. And I will bring YOU into the wilderness of the peoples88 and put myself on judgment with YOU there face to face.89
  36. ¶ “‘Just as I put myself on judgment with YOUR forefathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt,90 so I shall put myself on judgment with YOU,’ is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah.
  37. ‘And I will make YOU pass under the rod91 and bring YOU into the bond of the covenant.92
  38. And I will clean out from YOU the revolters and the transgressors93 against me, for out of the land of their alien residence I shall bring them forth, but onto the soil of Israel they will not come;94 and YOU people will have to know that I am Jehovah.’95
  39. ¶ “And YOU, O house of Israel, this is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said, ‘Go serve each one of YOU his own dungy idols.96 And afterward if YOU are not listening to me, then my holy name YOU will no more profane by YOUR gifts and by YOUR dungy idols.’97
  40. ¶ “‘For in my holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel,’98 is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah, ‘there is where they, the whole house of Israel in its entirety, will serve me, in the land.99 There I shall take pleasure in them, and there I shall require YOUR contributions and the firstfruits of YOUR presentations in all YOUR holy things.100
  41. Because of the restful odor I shall take pleasure in YOU,101 when I bring YOU forth from the peoples and I actually collect YOU together from the lands to which YOU have been scattered,102 and I will be sanctified in YOU before the eyes of the nations.’103
  42. ¶ “‘And YOU people will have to know that I am Jehovah,104 when I bring YOU onto the soil of Israel,105 into the land that I lifted up my hand [in an oath] to give to YOUR forefathers.
  43. And YOU will certainly remember there YOUR ways106 and all YOUR dealings by which YOU defiled yourselves,107 and YOU will actually feel a loathing at YOUR own faces because of all YOUR bad things that YOU did.108
  44. And YOU will have to know that I am Jehovah109 when I take action with YOU for the sake of my name,110 not according to YOUR bad ways or according to YOUR corrupted dealings,111 O house of Israel,’ is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah.”
  45. [o] And the word of Jehovah continued to occur to me, saying:
  46. “Son of man, set your face112 in the direction of the southern quarter[p] and drip113 [words] to the south,[q] and prophesy to the forest of the field of [the] south.[r]
  47. And you must say to the forest of the south, ‘Hear the word of Jehovah. This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said: “Here I am setting a fire ablaze against you,114 and it must devour in you every still-moist tree and every dry tree.115 The kindling flame will not be extinguished,116 and by it all faces must be scorched from [the] south to the north.117
  48. And all those of flesh must see that I myself, Jehovah, have set it afire, so that it will not be extinguished.”’”118
  49. ¶ And I proceeded to say: “Alas, O Sovereign Lord Jehovah! They are saying respecting me, ‘Is he not composing proverbial sayings?’”119

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!

I live in Dover, Delaware. My boyfriend Juan Tover and I have been dating for the past 4 yrs we were to get married in September of this year but it never happened..he constantly messes around with his ex's and other females every time he got caught he apologized and tell me to forgive him and I keep taking him back because I'm truly in love with this man but after a while he started messing around again...what can I do to make this man to love me and stop the messing around so we could get married and start our family? I am very happy I contacted Priest Salami regarding my problem. My boyfriend is now my HUSBAND. We got married 2 weeks ago in the United Church in Dover. My problem was solved.
