Chapter 18 of EzekielNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ And the word of Jehovah continued to occur to me, saying:
  2. “What does it mean to YOU people that YOU are expressing this proverbial saying on the soil of Israel, saying, ‘Fathers are the ones that eat unripe grapes, but it is the teeth of the sons that get set on edge’?[a]1
  3. ¶ “‘As I am alive,’ is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah, ‘it will no more continue to be YOURS to express this proverbial saying in Israel.
  4. Look! All the souls[b]—to me they belong.2 As the soul3 of the father so likewise the soul of the son—to me they belong.4 The soul that is sinning5—it itself will die.[c]6
  5. ¶ “‘And as regards a man,[d] in case he happens to be righteous and he has executed justice and righteousness;7
  6. on the mountains8 he did not eat9 and his eyes he did not raise to the dungy idols of the house of Israel,10 and his companion’s wife he did not defile11 and to a woman in her impurity he would not go near;12
  7. and no man would he maltreat;13 the pledge that he took for indebtedness, he would return;14 nothing would he wrest away in robbery;15 to the hungry one he would give his own bread16 and the naked one he would cover with a garment;17
  8. nothing would he give on interest18 and no usury would he take;19 from injustice he would draw back his hand;20 true justice he would execute between man and man;21
  9. in my statutes he kept walking22 and my judicial decisions he kept in order to execute truth,23 he is righteous.24 He will positively keep living,’25 is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah.
  10. ¶ “‘And [if] one has become father to a son who is a robber,26 a shedder of blood,27 who has done the like of one of these things[e]
  11. (but he himself has done none of these very things); in case he has eaten also upon the mountains,28 and his companion’s wife he has defiled;29
  12. the afflicted and poor one he has maltreated;30 things he has wrested away in robbery,31 a pledged thing he would not return;32 and to the dungy idols he lifted up his eyes,33 a detestable thing is what he has done.34
  13. On usury he has given,35 and interest he has taken,36 and he positively will not keep living. All these detestable things he has done.37 He will positively be put to death. On him his own blood will come to be.38
  14. ¶ “‘And, look! one has become father to a son, who keeps seeing all the sins of his father that he has done, and he sees[f] and does not do things like them.39
  15. On the mountains he has not eaten, and his eyes he has not lifted up to the dungy idols of the house of Israel;40 his companion’s wife he has not defiled;41
  16. and no man[g] has he maltreated,42 no pledge has he seized,43 and nothing has he taken in robbery;44 to the hungry one he has given his own bread,45 and the naked one he has covered with a garment;46
  17. from the afflicted one[h] he has drawn back his hand; no usury47 and interest48 has he taken; my judicial decisions he has carried out;49 in my statutes he has walked;50 he himself will not die because of the error of his father.51 He will positively keep living.52
  18. As for his father, because he committed outright defrauding,53 wrested something away in robbery of a brother,54 and whatever is not good he has done in the midst of his peoples,55 look! then he must die for his error.56
  19. ¶ “‘And YOU people will certainly say: “Why is it that the son does not have to bear anything because of the error of the father?”57 Now as regards the son, justice and righteousness he has executed,58 all the statutes of mine he has kept and he keeps doing them.59 He will positively keep living.60
  20. The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.[i]61 A son himself will bear nothing because of the error of the father, and a father himself will bear nothing because of the error of the son.62 Upon his own self the very righteousness of the righteous one will come to be,63 and upon his own self the very wickedness of a wicked one will come to be.64
  21. ¶ “‘Now as regards someone wicked, in case he should turn back from all his sins that he has committed65 and he should actually keep all my statutes and execute justice and righteousness,66 he will positively keep living. He will not die.67
  22. All his transgressions that he has committed—they will not be remembered against him.68 For his righteousness that he has done he will keep living.’69
  23. ¶ “‘Do I take any delight at all in the death of someone wicked,’70 is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah, ‘[and] not in that he should turn back from his ways and actually keep living?’71
  24. ¶ “‘Now when someone righteous turns back from his righteousness and actually does injustice;72 according to all the detestable things that the wicked one has done he keeps doing73 and he is living, none of all his righteous acts that he has done will be remembered.74 For his unfaithfulness that he has committed and for his sin with which he has sinned, for them he will die.75
  25. ¶ “‘And YOU people will certainly say: “The way of Jehovah[j] is not adjusted right.”76 Hear, please, O house of Israel. Is not my own way adjusted right?77 Are not the ways of YOU people not adjusted right?78
  26. ¶ “‘When someone righteous turns back from his righteousness and he actually does injustice79 and dies on account of them, for his injustice that he has done he will die.80
  27. ¶ “‘And when someone wicked turns back from his wickedness that he has committed and proceeds to execute justice and righteousness,81 he is the one that will preserve his own soul alive.82
  28. When he sees[k]83 and he turns back from all his transgressions that he has done,84 he will positively keep living. He will not die.85
  29. ¶ “‘And the house of Israel will certainly say: “The way of Jehovah[l] is not adjusted right.”86 As for my ways, are they not adjusted right, O house of Israel?87 Are not the ways of YOU people the ones that are not adjusted right?’88
  30. ¶ “‘Therefore each one according to his ways is how I shall judge YOU,89 O house of Israel,’ is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah.90 ‘Turn back, yes, cause a turning back from all YOUR transgressions,91 and let nothing prove to be for YOU people a stumbling block causing error.92
  31. Throw off from yourselves all YOUR transgressions in which YOU have transgressed93 and make for yourselves a new heart94 and a new spirit,95 for why should YOU die,96 O house of Israel?’
  32. ¶ “‘For I do not take any delight in the death of someone dying,’97 is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah. ‘So cause a turning back and keep living,98 O YOU people.’”

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
