Chapter 18 of ExodusNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Now Jethʹro the priest of Midʹi·an, Moses’ father-in-law,[a]1 got to hear about all that God had done for Moses and for Israel his people, how Jehovah had brought Israel out of Egypt.2
  2. So Jethʹro, Moses’ father-in-law, took Zip·poʹrah, Moses’ wife, after the sending of her away,[b]
  3. and her two sons,3 the name of one of whom was Gerʹshom,[c]4 “because,” he said, “an alien resident I have come to be in a foreign land”;
  4. and the name of the other was E·li·eʹzer,[d]5 “because,” to quote him, “the God of my father is my helper in that he delivered me from Pharʹaoh’s sword.”6
  5. ¶ So Jethʹro, Moses’ father-in-law, and his sons and his wife came to Moses into the wilderness where he was camping, at the mountain of the [true] God.7
  6. Then he sent word to Moses: “I,[e] your father-in-law,[f] Jethʹro,8 am come to you, and also your wife and her two sons with her.”
  7. At once Moses went on out to meet his father-in-law, and he proceeded to prostrate himself and to kiss him;9 and they each one began asking how the other was getting along. After that they went into the tent.
  8. ¶ And Moses went to relating to his father-in-law all that Jehovah had done to Pharʹaoh and Egypt on account of Israel,10 and all the hardship that had befallen them in the way,11 and yet Jehovah was delivering them.12
  9. Then Jethʹro felt glad over all the good that Jehovah had done for Israel in that he had delivered them[g] from the hand of Egypt.13
  10. Consequently Jethʹro said: “Blessed be Jehovah, who has delivered YOU from the hand of Egypt and from the hand of Pharʹaoh, and who has delivered the people from under the hand of Egypt.14
  11. Now I do know that Jehovah is greater than all the [other] gods[h]15 by reason of this affair in which they acted presumptuously against them.”[i]
  12. Then Jethʹro, Moses’ father-in-law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God;16 and Aaron and all the older men of Israel came to eat bread with Moses’ father-in-law, before the [true] God.17
  13. ¶ And it came about on the next day that Moses sat down as usual to serve as judge for the people,18 and the people kept standing before Moses from the morning till the evening.
  14. And Moses’ father-in-law got to see all that he was doing for the people. So he said: “What kind of business is this that you are doing for the people? Why do you alone continue sitting and all the people continue taking their stand before you from morning till evening?”
  15. Then Moses said to his father-in-law: “Because the people keep coming to me to inquire of God.19
  16. In the event that they have a case arise,20 it must come to me and I must judge between the one party and the other, and I must make known the decisions of the [true] God and his laws.”21
  17. ¶ At this Moses’ father-in-law said to him: “It is not good the way you are doing.
  18. You will surely wear out, both you and this people who are with you, because this business is too big a load for you.22 You are unable to do it by yourself.23
  19. Now listen to my voice.24 I shall advise you, and God will prove to be with you.25 You yourself serve as representative for the people before the [true] God,26 and you yourself must bring the cases to the [true] God.27
  20. And you must warn them of what the regulations and the laws are,28 and you must make known to them the way in which they should walk and the work that they should do.29
  21. But you yourself should select out of all the people capable men,30 fearing God,31 trustworthy[j] men,32 hating unjust profit;33 and you must set these over them as chiefs[k] over thousands,[l]34 chiefs over hundreds,[m] chiefs over fifties and chiefs over tens.[n]35
  22. And they must judge the people on every proper occasion; and it must occur that every big case they will bring to you,36 but every small case they themselves will handle as judges. So make it lighter for yourself, and they must carry the load with you.37
  23. If you do this very thing, and God has commanded you, you will then certainly be able to stand it and, besides, this people will all come to their own place in peace.”38
  24. ¶ Immediately Moses listened to the voice of his father-in-law and did all that he had said.39
  25. And Moses proceeded to choose capable men out of all Israel and to give them positions as heads over the people,40 as chiefs of thousands, chiefs of hundreds, chiefs of fifties and chiefs of tens.
  26. And they judged the people on every proper occasion. A hard case they would bring to Moses,41 but every small case they themselves would handle as judges.
  27. After that Moses saw his father-in-law off,42 and he went his way to his land.

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
