Chapter 1 of EstherNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Now it came about in the days of[a] A·has·u·eʹrus,[b]1 that is, the A·has·u·eʹrus who was ruling as king from Inʹdi·a[c] to E·thi·oʹpi·a,[d] [over] a hundred and twenty-seven jurisdictional districts,[e]2
  2. [that] in those days as King A·has·u·eʹrus was sitting upon his royal throne,3 which was in Shuʹshan4 the castle,[f]5
  3. in the third year of his reigning he held a banquet6 for all his princes and his servants, the military force of Persia7 and Meʹdi·a,8 the nobles9 and the princes of the jurisdictional districts before himself,10
  4. when he showed the riches11 of his glorious kingdom and the honor12 [and] the beauty of his greatness for many days, a hundred and eighty days.
  5. And when these days had come to the full, the king held a banquet for seven days for all the people that were found in Shuʹshan the castle, for the great as well as the small, in the courtyard of the garden of the king’s palace.
  6. There were linen, fine cotton and blue13 held fast in ropes of fine fabric, and wool dyed reddish purple14 in silver rings and pillars of marble, couches15 of gold and silver upon a pavement of porphyry[g] and marble and pearl and black marble.
  7. ¶ And there was a passing of wine to drink[h] in gold vessels;16 and the vessels were different from one another, and the royal wine17 was in great quantity, according to the means of the king.
  8. As regards the time of drinking according to the law, there was no one compelling, for that was the way the king had arranged for every great man of his household, to do according to the liking of each and every one.
  9. ¶ Also, Vashʹti18 the queen herself held a banquet for the women at the royal house that belonged to King A·has·u·eʹrus.[i]
  10. ¶ On the seventh day, when the king’s heart was in a merry mood with wine,19 he said to Me·huʹman, Bizʹtha, Har·boʹna,20 Bigʹtha and A·bagʹtha, Zeʹthar and Carʹkas, the seven court officials that were ministering[j]21 to the person of King A·has·u·eʹrus,
  11. to bring Vashʹti the queen in the royal headdress before the king, to show the peoples and the princes her loveliness; for she was beautiful in appearance.22
  12. But Queen Vashʹti kept refusing23 to come at the king’s word that was [conveyed] by means of the court officials. At this the king grew highly indignant and his very rage flared up within him.24
  13. ¶ And the king proceeded to say to the wise25 men having knowledge of the times26 (for in this way the king’s matter [came] before all those versed in law and legal cases,
  14. and those closest to him were Car·sheʹna, Sheʹthar, Ad·maʹtha, Tarʹshish, Meʹres, Mar·seʹna, [and] Me·muʹcan, seven27 princes of Persia and Meʹdi·a, having access to the king,[k]28 [and] who were sitting first in the kingdom):
  15. “According to law what is to be done with Queen Vashʹti because she has not performed the saying of King A·has·u·eʹrus by means of the court officials?”
  16. ¶ To this Me·muʹcan29 said before the king and the princes: “It is not against the king alone that Vashʹti the queen has done wrong,30 but against all the princes and against all the peoples that are in all the jurisdictional districts of King A·has·u·eʹrus.
  17. For the affair of the queen will go out to all the wives so that they will despise31 their owners[l]32 in their own eyes, when they say, ‘King A·has·u·eʹrus himself said to bring in Vashʹti the queen before him, and she did not come in.’
  18. And this day the princesses of Persia and Meʹdi·a, who have heard the affair of the queen, will talk to all the princes of the king, and there will be plenty of contempt and indignation.33
  19. If to the king it does seem good,34 let a royal word go out from his person, and let it be written among the laws35 of Persia and Meʹdi·a, that it may not pass away,36 that Vashʹti may not come in before King A·has·u·eʹrus; and her royal dignity let the king give to a companion of hers, a woman better than she is.
  20. And the decree of the king that he will make must be heard in all his realm (for it is vast), and all the wives themselves will give[m] honor37 to their owners,38 the great as well as the small.”
  21. ¶ And the thing was pleasing in the eyes of the king39 and the princes, and the king proceeded to do according to the word of Me·muʹcan.
  22. So he sent written documents40 to all the king’s jurisdictional districts, to each jurisdictional district41 in its own style of writing and to each people in its own tongue, for every husband to be continually acting as prince in his own house42 and speaking in the tongue of his own people.

FOOTNOTES

  1. ^ See Ge 14:1 ftn, “Days of.”
  2. ^ “Artaxerxes,” LXX. Understood to be Xerxes I, son of Darius the Great (Darius Hystaspis).
  3. ^ “From India.” Heb., me·Hodʹdu; Gr., In·di·kesʹ, “Indian [country]”; Syr., Hudh; Lat., Inʹdi·a.
  4. ^ “Ethiopia,” Vg; MSy, “Cush.”
  5. ^ “Provinces,” Lat., pro·vinʹci·as.
  6. ^ Or, “fortress.”
  7. ^ A very hard rock often having a dark purplish-red groundmass and containing feldspar crystals.
  8. ^ “There was a passing of wine to drink.” In Heb. this is taken to be a verb in the infinitive absolute, indefinite as to time and impersonal.
  9. ^ “Artaxerxes,” LXX.
  10. ^ Lit., “the ones ministering.” Heb., ham·sha·rethimʹ; Gr., tois di·a·koʹnois; Lat., mi·ni·straʹbant, “they were ministering.”
  11. ^ Lit., “seeing the face of the king.”
  12. ^ “Their owners.” Heb., baʽ·leh·henʹ.
  13. ^ “It . . . and all the wives themselves will give.” Hiʼ Wekhol-Han·na·shimʹ Yit·tenuʹ (Heb.) appears to be a reverse acrostic of the Tetragrammaton, יהוה (YHWH). Three ancient Heb. mss are known that give the letters of the divine name here in acrostic in majuscule letters, as follows: תנוי נשיםהכל־ו יאה. This is the first of four such acrostics of the name “Jehovah,” and the Masorah in a rubric, or in red letters, calls attention to this.

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
