Chapter 4 of DeuteronomyNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ “And now, O Israel, listen to the regulations and the judicial decisions that I am teaching YOU to do, in order that YOU may live1 and may indeed go in and take possession of the land that Jehovah the God of YOUR forefathers is giving YOU.
  2. YOU must not add to the word that I am commanding YOU, neither must YOU take away from it,2 so as to keep the commandments of Jehovah YOUR God that I am commanding YOU.
  3. ¶ “YOUR own eyes are the ones that saw what Jehovah did in the case of the Baʹal of Peʹor,[a]3 that every man who walked after the Baʹal of Peʹor was the one whom Jehovah your God annihilated from your midst.4
  4. But YOU who are cleaving5 to Jehovah YOUR God are all of YOU alive today.
  5. See, I have taught YOU regulations6 and judicial decisions,7 just as Jehovah my God has commanded me, for YOU to do that way in the midst of the land to which YOU are going to take possession of it.
  6. And YOU must keep and do them, because this is wisdom8 on YOUR part and understanding9 on YOUR part before the eyes of the peoples who will hear of all these regulations, and they will certainly say, ‘This great nation is undoubtedly a wise and understanding people.’10
  7. For what great nation11 is there that has gods[b] near to it the way Jehovah our God is in all our calling upon him?12
  8. And what great nation is there that has righteous regulations and judicial decisions like all this law that I am putting before YOU today?13
  9. ¶ “Only watch out for yourself and take good care of your soul,14 that you may not forget the things that your eyes have seen15 and that they may not depart from your heart all the days of your life;16 and you must make them known to your sons and to your grandsons,[c]17
  10. the day that you stood before Jehovah your God in Hoʹreb,[d]18 when Jehovah said to me, ‘Congregate[e] the people together to me that I may let them hear my words,19 that they may learn to fear20 me all the days that they are alive on the soil and that they may teach their sons.’21
  11. ¶ “So YOU people came near and stood at the base of the mountain, and the mountain was burning with fire up to midheaven;[f] there was darkness, cloud and thick gloom.22
  12. And Jehovah began to speak to YOU out of the middle of the fire.23 The sound of words was what YOU were hearing, but no form24 were YOU seeing—nothing but a voice.25
  13. And he proceeded to state to YOU his covenant,26 which he commanded YOU to perform—the Ten Words,[g]27 after which he wrote them upon two tablets of stone.28
  14. And it was I whom Jehovah commanded at that particular time to teach YOU regulations and judicial decisions, for YOU to do them in the land to which YOU are passing over to take possession of it.29
  15. ¶ “And YOU must take good care of YOUR souls,30 because YOU did not see any form31 on the day of Jehovah’s speaking to YOU in Hoʹreb out of the middle of the fire,
  16. that YOU may not act ruinously32 and may not really make for yourselves a carved image, the form of any symbol, the representation of male or female,33
  17. the representation of any beast that is in the earth,34 the representation of any winged bird that flies in the heavens,35
  18. the representation of anything moving on the ground, the representation of any fish36 that is in the waters under the earth;
  19. and that you may not raise your eyes to the heavens and indeed see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the army of the heavens, and actually get seduced and bow down to them and serve them,[h]37 which Jehovah your God has apportioned to all the peoples under the whole heavens.38
  20. But YOU are the ones Jehovah took that he might bring YOU out of the iron furnace,39 out of Egypt, to become a people of private ownership[i] to him40 as at this day.
  21. ¶ “And Jehovah got incensed at me on YOUR account,41 so that he swore that I should not cross the Jordan or go into the good land that Jehovah your God is giving you as an inheritance.42
  22. For I am dying in this land.43 I am not crossing the Jordan, but YOU are crossing, and YOU must take possession of this good land.
  23. Watch out for yourselves that YOU may not forget the covenant of Jehovah YOUR God that he concluded with YOU44 and that YOU do not make for yourselves a carved image, the form of anything about which Jehovah your God has commanded you.45
  24. For Jehovah your God is a consuming fire,46 a God exacting exclusive devotion.[j]47
  25. ¶ “In case you[k] become father to sons and grandsons and YOU have resided a long time in the land and do act ruinously48 and do make a carved image,49 a form of anything, and do commit evil in the eyes of Jehovah your God50 so as to offend him,
  26. I do take as witnesses against YOU today the heavens and the earth,51 that YOU will positively perish in a hurry from off the land to which YOU are crossing the Jordan to take possession of it. YOU will not lengthen YOUR days on it, because YOU will positively be annihilated.52
  27. And Jehovah will certainly scatter YOU among the peoples,53 and YOU will indeed be let remain few54 in number among the nations to which Jehovah will drive YOU away.
  28. And there YOU will have to serve gods,55 the product of the hands of man, wood and stone,56 which cannot see or hear or eat or smell.57
  29. ¶ “If YOU do look for Jehovah your God from there, you will also certainly find him,58 because you will inquire for him with all your heart and with all your soul.59
  30. When you are in sore straits and all these words have found you out at the close of the days, then you will have to return to Jehovah your God60 and to listen to his voice.61
  31. For Jehovah your God is a merciful God.62 He will not desert you or bring you to ruin or forget the covenant63 of your forefathers that he swore to them.
  32. ¶ “Now ask, please, concerning the former days64 that occurred before you, from the day that God created man[l] on the earth65 and from one end of the heavens clear to the other end of the heavens, Was any great thing brought about like this or was anything heard like it?66
  33. Has any other people heard the voice of God[m] speaking out of the middle of the fire the way you yourself have heard it, and kept on living?67
  34. Or did God attempt to come to take a nation to himself out of the midst of another nation with provings,68 with signs69 and with miracles70 and with war71 and with a strong hand72 and with an outstretched arm73 and with great fearsomeness74 like all that Jehovah YOUR God has done for YOU in Egypt before your eyes?
  35. You—you have been shown, so as to know that Jehovah is the [true] God;75 there is no other besides him.76
  36. Out of the heavens he made you hear his voice so as to correct you; and upon the earth he made you see his great fire, and his words you heard from the middle of the fire.77
  37. ¶ “And [yet you continue to live], because[n] he loved your forefathers so that he chose their seed after them[o]78 and brought you out of Egypt in his sight with his great power,79
  38. to drive away nations greater and mightier than you from before you, so as to bring you in, to give you their land as an inheritance as at this day.80
  39. And you well know today, and you must call back to your heart[p] that Jehovah is the [true] God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath.81 There is no other.82
  40. And you must keep his regulations83 and his commandments that I am commanding you today, that it may go well with you84 and your sons after you, and in order that you may lengthen your days on the soil that Jehovah your God is giving you,85 always.”
  41. ¶ At that time Moses proceeded to set apart three cities on the side of the Jordan toward the rising of the sun,86
  42. for the manslayer to flee there who slays his fellow without knowing it,87 while he was not hating him formerly;88 and he must flee to one of these cities and live,89
  43. namely, Beʹzer90 in the wilderness on the tableland for the Reuʹben·ites, and Raʹmoth91 in Gilʹe·ad for the Gadʹites, and Goʹlan92 in Baʹshan for the Ma·nasʹsites.93
  44. ¶ Now this is the law94 that Moses set before the sons of Israel.
  45. These are the testimonies[q]95 and the regulations96 and the judicial decisions97 that Moses spoke to the sons of Israel on their coming out of Egypt,
  46. in the region of the Jordan in the valley in front of Beth-peʹor,98 in the land of Siʹhon the king of the Amʹor·ites, who was dwelling in Heshʹbon,99 whom Moses and the sons of Israel defeated on their coming out of Egypt.100
  47. And they went taking possession of his land and of the land of Og101 the king of Baʹshan, the two kings of the Amʹor·ites who were in the region of the Jordan toward the rising of the sun,
  48. from A·roʹer,102 which is on the bank of the torrent valley of Arʹnon, up to Mount Siʹon,[r] that is to say, Herʹmon,103
  49. and all the Arʹa·bah104 in the region of the Jordan toward the east, and as far as the sea of the Arʹa·bah105 at the base of the slopes of Pisʹgah.106

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!

I live in Dover, Delaware. My boyfriend Juan Tover and I have been dating for the past 4 yrs we were to get married in September of this year but it never happened..he constantly messes around with his ex's and other females every time he got caught he apologized and tell me to forgive him and I keep taking him back because I'm truly in love with this man but after a while he started messing around again...what can I do to make this man to love me and stop the messing around so we could get married and start our family? I am very happy I contacted Priest Salami regarding my problem. My boyfriend is now my HUSBAND. We got married 2 weeks ago in the United Church in Dover. My problem was solved. I am extremely happy to put his email purenaturalhealer@gmail.com  to anyone out there looking to solve his/her relationship problem. You can also WhatsApp him with his mobile number +2348105150446
