Chapter 33 of DeuteronomyNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Now this is the blessing1 with which Moses the man of the [true] God2 blessed the sons of Israel before his death.
  2. And he proceeded to say:
    ¶ “Jehovah—from Siʹnai he came,3
And he flashed forth from Seʹir upon them.4
He beamed forth from the mountainous region of Paʹran,5
¶ And with him were holy myriads,[a]6
At his right hand warriors belonging to them.[b]7
  3. ¶ He was also cherishing his people;[c]8
All their[d] holy ones are in your hand.9
    ¶ And they—they reclined at your feet;[e]10
They began to receive some of your words.11
  4. ¶ (Moses laid as a command upon us a law,[f]12
A possession of the congregation of Jacob.)13
  5. ¶ And he came to be king in Jeshʹu·run,[g]14
When the heads of the people gathered themselves,15
The entire number of the tribes of Israel.16
  6. ¶ Let Reuʹben live and not die off,17
And let his men [not] become few.”[h]18
  7. ¶ And this was Judah’s [blessing],[i]19 as he went on to say:
¶ “Hear, O Jehovah, the voice of Judah,20
And may you bring him to his people.
¶ His arms have contended for what is his;[j]
And may you prove yourself a helper from his adversaries.”21
  8. ¶ And as to Leʹvi he said:22
¶ “Your Thumʹmim[k] and your Uʹrim23 belong to the man loyal to you,[l]24
Whom you put to the test at Masʹsah.25
You began to contend with him by the waters of Merʹi·bah,26
  9. ¶ The man who said to his father and his mother, ‘I have not seen him.’
Even his brothers he did not acknowledge,27
And his sons he did not know.
¶ For they kept your saying,28
And your covenant they continued to observe.29
  10. ¶ Let them instruct Jacob in your judicial decisions30
      And Israel in your law.31
¶ Let them render up incense before your nostrils32
And a whole offering on your altar.33
  11. ¶ Bless, O Jehovah, his vital energy,34
And may you show pleasure in the activity of his hands.35
¶ Wound severely in their hips those who rise up against him,36
And those who intensely hate him, that they may not rise up.”37
  12. ¶ As to Benjamin he said:38
¶ “Let the beloved39 one of Jehovah reside in security by him,40
While he shelters him the whole day,41
And he must reside between his shoulders.”42
  13. ¶ And as to Joseph he said:43
¶ “May his land be continually blessed from Jehovah44
With the choice things of heaven, with dew,[m]45
And with the watery deep lying down below,46
  14. ¶ And with the choice things, the products of the sun,47
And with the choice things, the yield of the lunar months,48
  15. ¶ And with the choicest from the mountains of the east,49
And with the choice things of the indefinitely lasting hills,
  16. ¶ And with the choice things of the earth and its fullness,50
And with the approval of the One residing in the thornbush.51
¶ May they come upon the head of Joseph52
And upon the crown of the head of the one singled out[n] from his brothers.53
  17. ¶ As the firstborn of a bull his splendor is,54
And his horns are the horns of a wild bull.[o]55
¶ With them he will push peoples56
All together to the ends of the earth,
¶ And they are the tens of thousands of Eʹphra·im,57
And they are the thousands of Ma·nasʹseh.”
  18. ¶ And as to Zebʹu·lun he said:58
    ¶ “Rejoice, O Zebʹu·lun, in your going out,59
      And, Isʹsa·char, in your tents.60
  19. ¶ Peoples to the mountain they will call.
There they will sacrifice the sacrifices of righteousness.61
¶ For they will suck the abounding wealth of the seas62
And the hidden hoards of the sand.”[p]
  20. ¶ And as to Gad he said:63
¶ “Blessed is the one widening the borders of Gad.64
      As a lion[q] he must reside,65
And he must tear the arm, yes, the crown of the head.66
  21. ¶ And he will pick out the first part for himself,[r]67
For there the allotment of a statute-giver is reserved.68
And the heads of the people will gather themselves together.[s]
¶ The righteousness of Jehovah will he certainly execute
And his judicial decisions with Israel.”
  22. ¶ And as to Dan he said:69
    ¶ “Dan is a lion cub.70
¶ He will leap out from Baʹshan.”71
  23. ¶ And as to Naphʹta·li he said:72
¶ “Naphʹta·li is satisfied with the approval
And full of the blessing of Jehovah.
Do take possession of the west and south.”[t]73
  24. ¶ And as to Ashʹer he said:74
¶ “Blessed with sons is Ashʹer.75
Let him become one approved by his brothers,76
And one dipping his foot in oil.77
  25. ¶ Iron and copper are your gate locks,78
And in proportion to your days is your leisurely walk.[u]
  26. ¶ There is none like the [true] God[v]79 of Jeshʹu·run,80
Who rides upon heaven in help of you81
And upon cloudy skies in his eminence.[w]82
  27. ¶ A hiding place is the God of ancient time,83
And underneath are the indefinitely lasting arms.84
¶ And he will drive away from before you the enemy,85
And he will say, ‘Annihilate [them]!’86
  28. ¶ And Israel will reside in security,87
The fountain of Jacob by itself,88
    ¶ Upon[x] a land of grain and new wine.89
Yes, his heavens will let the dew drip down.90
  29. ¶ Happy you are, O Israel!91
      Who is there like you,92
A people enjoying salvation in Jehovah,93
¶ The shield of your help,94
And the One who is your eminent sword?95
¶ So your enemies will cringe before you,[y]96
And you—upon their high places you will tread.”[z]97

FOOTNOTES

  1. ^ Or, “tens of thousands of holy ones.”
  2. ^ Or, “and with him were myriads of Kadesh, at his right hand warriors [or, angels] thereof.” See JTS, Vol. 2, 1951, pp. 30, 31. LXX, “with [the] myriads of Kadesh; at his right hand angels [were] with him”; Vg, “and with him thousands of holy ones. In his right hand [there was] a fiery law.” Mmargin breaks the Heb. into two words, ʼesh (fire) and dath (law), to read, “the fire of a law”; or, “a fiery law.” But this would introduce into the Pentateuch a Persian loanword, dath (law), which is found elsewhere in Heb. only in Ezra and Esther. See Ezr 8:36; Es 1:8.
  3. ^ “His people,” LXX; MSamSyVg, “peoples,” referring to the Israelite tribes or their ancestors.
  4. ^ Possibly, “his,” in the collective sense, referring to “his people,” which is pl. in M (Heb., ʽam·mimʹ).
  5. ^ Possibly, “And they—they followed at your feet.” The meaning of the Heb. verb is uncertain. LXX, “And these are under you”; Vg, “And they who approach his feet.”
  6. ^ “Moses laid as a command upon us a law.” Some consider these words to be a gloss from the margin and so would delete them.
  7. ^ Meaning “Upright One”; an honorary title for Israel.
  8. ^ “And let his number become complete (perfect),” by a correction proposed in BHK and BHS; LXX, “and let him be great in number”; Vg, “and let him be small in number.”
  9. ^ “Blessing.” Inserted for sense in agreement with vs 1.
  10. ^ Or, “contended for him.”
  11. ^ See Ex 28:30 ftn, “Thummim.”
  12. ^ Possibly, “your man of loyal love.”
  13. ^ “Of heaven above,” two Heb. mss. In TO this line reads: “with dew of heaven from above.” See Ge 49:25.
  14. ^ “One singled out.” MSam(Heb.), nezirʹ, translated “Nazirite” (meaning “One Singled Out; Dedicated One; Separated One”) in Nu 6:2, 13, 18-20.
  15. ^ Or, “a buffalo.”
  16. ^ “And the hidden treasures of the sands,” Vg; LXX, “and the commerce of the inhabitants of the seacoast.”
  17. ^ “As a lion.” Heb., kela·viʼʹ, the Asian lion.
  18. ^ Lit., “And he will see the first part is his.” Vg, “And he saw the first place (preeminence) to be his.”
  19. ^ Lit., “for there was the allotment (share) of a commander [his prescribed allotment, by an emendation] covered in. And he proceeded to come [with] the heads of the people,” M; Vg, “for in his part the teacher was laid up (reserved) . . . .”
  20. ^ Possibly, “The sea and its fish are his possession.” LXXSyVg, “The sea (west) and the south he will inherit (take possession of).”
  21. ^ “Leisurely walk.” Or, “gait.” According to KB3, p. 199, “strength.”
  22. ^ “Like the [true] God of.” Heb., ka·ʼElʹ. Here the definite article ha, “the,” is indicated by the vowel points under the Heb. preposition Kaph, “k,” to form ka, “like the.” This introduction gives special emphasis to the noun “God,” here rendered “the [true] God.” See Heb. grammars under “prepositions”; App 1G.
  23. ^ “And the magnificent one of the firmament,” LXX; Vg, “by his magnificence the clouds run to and fro.”
  24. ^ “Upon,” Sam; M, “to (for).”
  25. ^ Or, “will pretend to be obedient to you.”
  26. ^ The tribe of Simeon is not named in the blessing upon all Israel, but with Levi named and also the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh that descended from Joseph, the number of tribes remains 12.

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
