Chapter 8 of DanielNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ In the third year of the kingship of Bel·shazʹzar1 the king, there was a vision that appeared to me, even me, Daniel, after the one appearing to me at the start.2
  2. And I began to see in the vision; and it came about, while I was seeing, that I was in Shuʹshan3 the castle, which is in Eʹlam4 the jurisdictional district; and I proceeded to see in the vision, and I myself happened to be by the watercourse[a] of Uʹlai.5
  3. When I raised my eyes, then I saw, and, look! a ram6 standing before the watercourse, and it had two horns. And the two horns were tall, but the one was taller than the other,[b] and the taller was the one that came up afterward.7
  4. I saw the ram making thrusts to the west[c] and to the north and to the south,[d] and no wild beasts kept standing before it, and there was no one doing any delivering out of its hand.8 And it did according to its will,[e] and it put on great airs.
  5. ¶ And I, for my part, kept on considering, and, look! there was a male of the goats9 coming from the sunset upon the surface of the whole earth,[f] and it was not touching the earth. And as regards the he-goat, there was a conspicuous horn between its eyes.10
  6. And it kept coming all the way to the ram possessing the two horns, which I had seen standing before the watercourse;[g] and it came running toward it in its powerful rage.
  7. ¶ And I saw it coming into close touch with the ram, and it began showing bitterness toward it, and it proceeded to strike down the ram and to break its two horns, and there proved to be no power in the ram to stand before it. So it threw it to the earth and trampled it down, and the ram proved to have no deliverer out of its hand.11
  8. ¶ And the male of the goats, for its part, put on great airs12 to an extreme; but as soon as it became mighty, the great horn was broken, and there proceeded to come up conspicuously four instead of it, toward the four winds[h] of the heavens.13
  9. ¶ And out of one of them there came forth another horn, a small one,14 and it kept getting very much greater toward the south[i] and toward the sunrising and toward the Decoration.[j]15
  10. And it kept getting greater all the way to the army of the heavens,16 so that it caused some of the army and some of the stars17 to fall to the earth, and it went trampling them down.18
  11. And all the way to the Prince19 of the army it put on great airs, and from him the constant [feature][k]20 was taken away, and the established place of his sanctuary was thrown down.21
  12. And an army itself was gradually given over,22 together with the constant [feature],23 because of transgression;24 and it kept throwing truth25 to the earth,26 and it acted and had success.27
  13. ¶ And I got to hear a certain holy one28 speaking, and another holy one proceeded to say to the particular one who was speaking: “How long will the vision be of the constant [feature]29 and of the transgression causing desolation,[l]30 to make both [the] holy place and [the] army things to trample on?”31
  14. So he said to me: “Until two thousand three hundred evenings [and] mornings; and [the] holy place will certainly be brought into its right condition.”[m]32
  15. ¶ Then it came about that, while I myself, Daniel, was seeing the vision and seeking an understanding,33 why, look! there was standing in front of me someone in appearance like an able-bodied man.[n]34
  16. And I began to hear the voice of an earthling man in the midst of the Uʹlai,[o]35 and he proceeded to call out and say: “Gaʹbri·el,[p]36 make that one there understand the thing seen.”37
  17. So he came beside where I was standing, but when he came I got terrified so that I fell upon my face. And he proceeded to say to me: “Understand,38 O son of man,[q]39 that[r] the vision is for the time of [the] end.”40
  18. And while he was speaking with me, I had become fast asleep on my face on the earth.41 So he touched me and made me stand up where I had been standing.42
  19. And he went on to say: “Here I am causing you to know what will occur in the final part of the denunciation, because it is for the appointed time[s] of [the] end.43
  20. ¶ “The ram that you saw possessing the two horns [stands for] the kings of Meʹdi·a and Persia.44
  21. And the hairy he-goat [stands for] the king of Greece;[t]45 and as for the great horn that was between its eyes, it [stands for] the first king.46
  22. And that one having been broken, so that there were four that finally stood up instead of it,47 there are four kingdoms from [his][u] nation that will stand up, but not with his power.
  23. ¶ “And in the final part of their kingdom, as the transgressors act to a completion, there will stand up a king fierce in countenance and understanding ambiguous sayings.[v]48
  24. And his power must become mighty, but not by his own power.49 And in a wonderful way he will cause ruin,50 and he will certainly prove successful and do effectively. And he will actually bring mighty ones to ruin, also the people made up of [the] holy ones.51
  25. And according to his insight[w] he will also certainly cause deception to succeed in his hand.52 And in his heart he will put on great airs,53 and during a freedom from care54 he will bring many to ruin. And against the Prince of princes55 he will stand up, but it will be without hand that he will be broken.56
  26. ¶ “And the thing seen concerning the evening and the morning, which has been said, it is true.[x]57 And you, for your part, keep secret the vision, because it is yet for many days.”58
  27. ¶ And as for me, Daniel, I felt exhausted and was made sick for [some] days.59 Then I got up and did the work of the king;60 but I kept showing myself numbed on account of the thing seen, and there was nobody understanding [it].61

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
