Chapter 11 of DanielNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ “And as for me, in the first year of Da·riʹus[a] the Mede1 I stood up as a strengthener and as a fortress to him.
  2. And now what is truth I shall tell to you:2
¶ “Look! There will yet be three kings standing up for Persia,3 and the fourth one4 will amass greater riches than all [others].5 And as soon as he has become strong in his riches, he will rouse up everything against the kingdom of Greece.[b]6
  3. ¶ “And a mighty[c] king will certainly stand up and rule with extensive dominion[d]7 and do according to his will.[e]8
  4. And when he will have stood up,9 his kingdom will be broken and be divided toward the four winds[f]10 of the heavens,11 but not to his posterity12 and not according to his dominion with which he had ruled; because his kingdom will be uprooted, even for others than these.
  5. ¶ “And the king of the south[g] will become strong, even [one] of his princes; and he will prevail against him and will certainly rule with extensive dominion [greater than] that one’s ruling power.
  6. ¶ “And at the end of [some] years they will ally themselves with each other, and the very daughter of the king of the south will come to the king of the north[h] in order to make an equitable arrangement. But she will not retain the power of her arm;13 and he will not stand, neither his arm; and she will be given up, she herself, and those bringing her in, and he who caused her birth, and the one making her strong in [those] times.
  7. And one from the sprout14 of her roots will certainly stand up in his position, and he will come to the military force and come against the fortress of the king of the north and will certainly act against them and prevail.
  8. And also with their gods,[i]15 with their molten images, with their desirable articles of silver and of gold, [and] with the captives he will come to Egypt. And he himself will for [some] years stand off from the king of the north.
  9. ¶ “And he will actually come into the kingdom of the king of the south and go back to his own soil.
  10. ¶ “Now as for his sons,[j] they will excite themselves and actually gather together a crowd of large military forces. And in coming he will certainly come and flood over and pass through. But he will go back, and he[k] will excite himself all the way to his fortress.
  11. ¶ “And the king of the south will embitter himself and will have to go forth and fight with him, [that is,] with the king of the north; and he will certainly have a large crowd stand up, and the crowd will actually be given into the hand of that one.16
  12. And the crowd will certainly be carried away. His heart will become exalted,17 and he will actually cause tens of thousands to fall; but he will not use his strong position.
  13. ¶ “And the king of the north must return and set up a crowd larger than the first; and at the end of the times, [some] years, he will come, doing so with a great military18 force and with a great deal of goods.19
  14. And in those times there will be many who will stand up against the king of the south.
¶ “And the sons of the robbers belonging to your people will, for their part, be carried along to try making a vision come true;20 and they will have to stumble.21
  15. ¶ “And the king of the north will come and throw up[l] a siege rampart22 and actually capture a city with fortifications. And as for the arms of the south, they will not stand, neither the people of his picked ones; and there will be no power to keep standing.
  16. And the one coming against him will do according to his will, and there will be no one standing before him. And he will stand in the land of the Decoration,23 and there will be extermination[m] in his hand.24
  17. And he will set his face25 to come with the forcefulness of his entire kingdom, and there will be equitable26 [terms] with him; and he will act effectively.27 And as regards the daughter of womankind,[n] it will be granted to him to bring her to ruin. And she will not stand, and she will not continue to be his.28
  18. And he will turn his face back to the coastlands[o]29 and will actually capture many. And a commander will have to make the reproach from him cease for himself, [so that] his reproach will not be. He will make it turn back upon that one.
  19. And he will turn his face back to the fortresses of his [own] land, and he will certainly stumble and fall, and he will not be found.30
  20. ¶ “And there must stand up in his position one31 who is causing an exactor[p]32 to pass through the splendid kingdom,[q] and in a few days[r] he will be broken, but not in anger nor in warfare.
  21. ¶ “And there must stand up in his position one who is to be despised,33 and they will certainly not set upon him the dignity of [the] kingdom; and he will actually come in during a freedom from care34 and take hold of [the] kingdom by means of smoothness.[s]35
  22. And as regards the arms36 of the flood, they will be flooded over on account of him, and they will be broken;37 as will also38 the Leader39 of [the] covenant.40
  23. And because of their allying themselves with him he will carry on deception and actually come up and become mighty by means of a little nation.[t]41
  24. During freedom from care,42 even into the fatness of the jurisdictional district he will enter in and actually do what his fathers and the fathers of his fathers have not done. Plunder and spoil and goods he will scatter among them; and against fortified places he will scheme out his schemes,43 but only until a time.
  25. ¶ “And he will arouse his power and his heart against the king of the south with a great military force; and the king of the south, for his part, will excite himself for the war with an exceedingly great and mighty military force. And he will not stand, because they will scheme out against him schemes.
  26. And the very ones eating his delicacies[u] will bring his breakdown.
¶ “And as for his military force, it will be flooded away,[v] and many will certainly fall down slain.
  27. ¶ “And as regards these two kings, their heart will be inclined to doing what is bad, and at one table44 a lie is what they will keep speaking.45 But nothing will succeed,46 because [the] end is yet for the time appointed.47
  28. ¶ “And he will go back to his land with a great amount of goods, and his heart will be against the holy covenant.48 And he will act effectively49 and certainly go back to his land.
  29. ¶ “At the time appointed[w]50 he will go back, and he will actually come against the south;[x]51 but it will not prove to be at the last the same as at the first.
  30. And there will certainly come against him the ships of Kitʹtim,[y]52 and he will have to become dejected.
¶ “And he will actually go back and hurl denunciations53 against the holy covenant54 and act effectively; and he will have to go back and will give consideration to those leaving the holy covenant.
  31. And there will be arms[z] that will stand up, proceeding from him; and they will actually profane the sanctuary,[aa]55 the fortress,[ab] and remove the constant [feature].[ac]56
¶ “And they will certainly put in place[ad] the disgusting thing57 that is causing desolation.[ae]58
  32. ¶ “And those who are acting wickedly against [the] covenant,59 he will lead into apostasy60 by means of smooth words.61 But as regards the people who are knowing their God,[af]62 they will prevail[ag]63 and act effectively.
  33. And as regards those having insight64 among the people, they will impart understanding to the many.65 And they will certainly be made to stumble by sword and by flame, by captivity and by plundering,66 for [some] days.[ah]
  34. But when they are made to stumble they will be helped with a little help;67 and many will certainly join themselves to them by means of smoothness.[ai]68
  35. And some of those having insight will be made to stumble,69 in order to do a refining work because of them and to do a cleansing and to do a whitening,70 until the time of [the] end;71 because it is yet for the time appointed.[aj]72
  36. ¶ “And the king will actually do according to his own will,[ak] and he will exalt himself and magnify himself[al] above every god;[am]73 and against the God of gods[an]74 he will speak marvelous things. And he will certainly prove successful until [the] denunciation will have come to a finish;75 because the thing decided upon must be done.
  37. And to the God[ao] of his fathers he will give no consideration; and to the desire of women and to every other god he will give no consideration, but over everyone he will magnify himself.76
  38. But to the god of fortresses,[ap] in his position he will give glory; and to a god that his fathers did not know he will give glory by means of gold and by means of silver and by means of precious stone and by means of desirable things.
  39. And he will act effectively against the most fortified strongholds, along with a foreign god. Whoever has given [him] recognition he will make abound with glory, and he will actually make them rule among many; and [the] ground he will apportion out for a price.
  40. ¶ “And in the time of [the] end the king of the south[aq]77 will engage with him in a pushing, and against him the king of the north[ar] will storm with chariots and with horsemen and with many ships; and he will certainly enter into the lands and flood over and pass through.
  41. He will also actually enter78 into the land of the Decoration,[as]79 and there will be many[at] [lands] that will be made to stumble.80 But these are the ones that will escape out of his hand, Eʹdom and Moʹab81 and the main part[au] of the sons of Amʹmon.
  42. And he will keep thrusting out his hand against the lands; and as regards the land of Egypt,82 she will not prove to be an escapee.
  43. And he will actually rule over the hidden treasures of the gold and the silver and over all the desirable things of Egypt. And the Libʹy·ans[av] and the E·thi·oʹpi·ans[aw] will be at his steps.
  44. ¶ “But there will be reports[ax] that will disturb him,83 out of the sunrising84 and out of the north, and he will certainly go forth in a great rage in order to annihilate and to devote many to destruction.85
  45. And he will plant his palatial tents between [the] grand sea[ay] and the holy mountain of Decoration;[az]86 and he will have to come all the way to his end,87 and there will be no helper for him.88

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!

I live in Dover, Delaware. My boyfriend Juan Tover and I have been dating for the past 4 yrs we were to get married in September of this year but it never happened..he constantly messes around with his ex's and other females every time he got caught he apologized and tell me to forgive him and I keep taking him back because I'm truly in love with this man but after a while he started messing around again...what can I do to make this man to love me and stop the messing around so we could get married and start our family? I am very happy I contacted Priest Salami regarding my problem. My boyfriend is now my HUSBAND. We got married 2 weeks ago in the United Church in Dover. My problem was solved.
