Chapter 10 of ActsNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Now in Caes·a·reʹa there was a certain man named Cornelius, an army officer[a]1 of the Italian band,2 as it was called,
  2. a devout man3 and one fearing4 God together with all his household, and he made many gifts of mercy to the people5 and made supplication to God continually.6
  3. Just about the ninth hour[b]7 of the day he saw plainly in a vision8 an angel9 of God come in to him and say to him: “Cornelius!”
  4. The man gazed at him and, becoming frightened, said: “What is it, Lord?” He said to him: “Your prayers10 and gifts of mercy have ascended as a remembrance before God.11
  5. So now send men to Jopʹpa and summon a certain Simon who is surnamed Peter.
  6. This man is being entertained by a certain Simon, a tanner, who has a house by the sea.”12
  7. As soon as the angel that spoke to him had left, he called two of his house servants and a devout soldier from among those who were in constant attendance upon him,13
  8. and he related everything to them and dispatched them to Jopʹpa.14
  9. ¶ The next day as they were pursuing their journey and were approaching the city, Peter went up to the housetop15 about the sixth hour[c] to pray.16
  10. But he became very hungry and wanted to eat. While they were preparing, he fell into a trance17
  11. and beheld heaven opened18 and some sort of vessel descending like a great linen sheet being let down by its four extremities upon the earth;
  12. and in it there were all sorts of four-footed creatures and creeping things of the earth and birds of heaven.19
  13. And a voice came to him: “Rise, Peter, slaughter[d] and eat!”20
  14. But Peter said: “Not at all, Lord, because never have I eaten anything defiled and unclean.”21
  15. And the voice [spoke] again to him, the second time: “You stop calling defiled22 the things God has cleansed.”
  16. This occurred a third time, and immediately the vessel was taken up into heaven.23
  17. ¶ Now while Peter was in great perplexity inwardly over what the vision he had seen might mean, look! the men dispatched by Cornelius had made inquiries for Simon’s house and stood there at the gate.24
  18. And they called out and inquired whether Simon who was surnamed Peter was being entertained there.
  19. As Peter was going over in his mind about the vision, the spirit25 said: “Look! Three[e] men are seeking you.
  20. However, rise, go downstairs and be on your way with them, not doubting at all, because I have dispatched them.”26
  21. So Peter went downstairs to the men and said: “Look! I am the one YOU are seeking. What is the cause for which YOU are present?”
  22. They said: “Cornelius, an army officer, a man righteous and fearing God27 and well reported28 by the whole nation of the Jews, was given divine instructions[f] by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house and to hear the things you have to say.”
  23. Therefore he invited them in and entertained them.
¶ The next day he rose and went off with them, and some of the brothers that were from Jopʹpa went with him.
  24. On the day after that he entered into Caes·a·reʹa. Cornelius, of course, was expecting them and had called together his relatives and intimate friends.
  25. As Peter entered, Cornelius met him, fell down at his feet and did obeisance to him.
  26. But Peter lifted him up, saying: “Rise; I myself am also a man.”29
  27. And as he conversed with him he went in and found many people assembled,
  28. and he said to them: “YOU well know how unlawful it is for a Jew to join himself to or approach a man of another race;30 and yet God has shown me I should call no man defiled or unclean.31
  29. Hence I came, really without objection, when I was sent for. Therefore I inquire the reason that YOU have sent for me.”
  30. ¶ Accordingly Cornelius said: “Four days ago counting from this hour I was praying in my house at the ninth hour,[g]32 when, look! a man in bright raiment33 stood before me
  31. and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been favorably heard and your gifts of mercy have been remembered before God.34
  32. Send, therefore, to Jopʹpa and call for Simon, who is surnamed Peter.35 This man is being entertained in the house of Simon, a tanner, by the sea.’36
  33. Therefore I at once sent to you, and you did well in coming here. And so at this time we are all present before God to hear all the things you have been commanded by Jehovah[h] to say.”37
  34. ¶ At this Peter opened his mouth and said: “For a certainty I perceive that God is not partial,38
  35. but in every nation the man that fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.39
  36. He sent out the word40 to the sons of Israel to declare to them the good news of peace41 through Jesus Christ: this One is Lord of all [others].42
  37. YOU know the subject that was talked about throughout the whole of Ju·deʹa, starting from Galʹi·lee after the baptism that John preached,43
  38. namely, Jesus who was from Nazʹa·reth, how God anointed him with holy spirit44 and power, and he went through the land doing good and healing all those oppressed by the Devil;45 because God was with him.46
  39. And we are witnesses of all the things he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem; but they also did away with him by hanging him on a stake.[i]47
  40. God raised this One up on the third day and granted him to become manifest,48
  41. not to all the people, but to witnesses appointed beforehand by God,49 to us, who ate and drank with him50 after his rising from the dead.
  42. Also, he ordered us to preach51 to the people and to give a thorough witness that this is the One decreed by God to be judge of the living and the dead.52
  43. To him all the prophets bear witness,53 that everyone putting faith in him gets forgiveness of sins through his name.”54
  44. ¶ While Peter was yet speaking about these matters the holy spirit fell upon all those hearing the word.55
  45. And the faithful ones that had come with Peter who were of those circumcised were amazed, because the free gift of the holy spirit was being poured out also upon people of the nations.56
  46. For they heard them speaking with tongues and magnifying God.57 Then Peter responded:
  47. “Can anyone forbid water so that these might not be baptized58 who have received the holy spirit even as we have?”
  48. With that he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.59 Then they requested him to remain for some days.

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
