Chapter 7 of 2 SamuelNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ And it came about that, when the king dwelt in his own house1 and Jehovah himself had given him rest from all his enemies round about,2
  2. then the king said to Nathan3 the prophet: “See, now, I am dwelling in a house of cedars4 while the ark of the [true] God is dwelling in the middle of tent cloths.”5
  3. Upon that Nathan said to the king: “Everything that is in your heart—go, do,6 because Jehovah is with you.”
  4. ¶ And it came about on that night that the word7 of Jehovah came to Nathan, saying:
  5. “Go, and you must say to my servant David, ‘This is what Jehovah has said: “Should you yourself build me a house for me to dwell in?8
  6. For I have not dwelt in a house from the day of my bringing the sons of Israel up out of Egypt to this day,9 but I was continually walking10 about in a tent11 and in a tabernacle.12
  7. During all the time that I have walked about among all the sons of Israel,13 was there a word that I spoke with one of the tribes[a] of Israel14 that I commanded to shepherd my people Israel, saying, ‘Why did YOU people not build me a house of cedars?’”’
  8. And now this is what you will say to my servant David, ‘This is what Jehovah of armies has said: “I myself took you from the pasture ground from following the flock15 to become a leader16 over my people Israel.
  9. And I shall prove to be with you wherever you do go,17 and I will cut off all your enemies from before you;18 and I shall certainly make for you a great name,19 like the name of the great ones that are in the earth.
  10. And I shall certainly appoint a place20 for my people Israel and plant21 them, and they will indeed reside where they are, and no more will they be disturbed; and the sons of unrighteousness will not afflict them again as they did at the first,22
  11. even from the day that I put judges23 in command over my people Israel; and I will give you rest from all your enemies.24
¶ “‘“And Jehovah has told you that a house25 is what Jehovah will make for you.
  12. When your days come to the full,26 and you must lie down with your forefathers,27 then I shall certainly raise up your seed after you, which will come out of your inward parts; and I shall indeed firmly establish his kingdom.28
  13. He is the one that will build a house for my name,29 and I shall certainly establish the throne of his kingdom firmly to time indefinite.30
  14. I myself shall become his father,31 and he himself will become my son.32 When he does wrong, I will also reprove him with the rod33 of men and with the strokes of the sons of Adam.[b]
  15. As for my loving-kindness,[c] it will not depart from him the way I removed it from Saul,34 whom I removed on account of you.
  16. And your house and your kingdom will certainly be steadfast to time indefinite before you; your very throne will become one firmly established to time indefinite.”’”35
  17. ¶ According to all these words and according to all this vision was the way that Nathan spoke to David.36
  18. ¶ At that King David came in and sat down before Jehovah and said: “Who am I,37 O Sovereign Lord Jehovah? And what is my house that you have brought me thus far?
  19. As though this should even be something little in your eyes, O Sovereign Lord Jehovah, yet you also speak respecting the house of your servant down to a distant future time; and this is the law given for mankind,[d]38 O Sovereign Lord Jehovah.39
  20. And what more can David add and speak to you, when you yourself know your servant well,40 O Sovereign Lord Jehovah?
  21. For the sake of your word41 and in agreement with your own heart42 you have done all these great things to cause your servant to know them.43
  22. That is why you are indeed great,44 O Sovereign Lord Jehovah; for there is no other like you,45 and there is no God except you46 among all of whom we have heard with our ears.
  23. And what one[e] nation in the earth is like your people Israel,47 whom God went to redeem to himself as a people48 and to assign himself a name49 and to do for them[f] great and fear-inspiring things50—to drive out[g] because of your people, whom you have redeemed51 to yourself from Egypt, the nations and their gods?
  24. And you proceeded to establish your people Israel52 firmly for yourself as your people to time indefinite; and you yourself, O Jehovah, have become their God.53
  25. ¶ “And now, Jehovah God,[h] the word that you have spoken concerning your servant and concerning his house carry out to time indefinite and do just as you have spoken.54
  26. And let your own name become great to time indefinite,55 saying, ‘Jehovah of armies is God over Israel,’56 and let the very house of your servant David become firmly established before you.57
  27. For you, Jehovah of armies the God of Israel, have made a revelation to your servant’s ear, saying, ‘A house I shall build for you.’58 That is why your servant has taken heart[i] to pray to you with this prayer.59
  28. And now, O Sovereign Lord Jehovah, you are the [true] God; and as for your words, let them prove to be truth,[j]60 since you promise to your servant this goodness.61
  29. And now take it upon yourself and bless62 the house of your servant [for it] to continue to time indefinite before you;63 for you yourself, O Sovereign Lord Jehovah, have promised, and due to your blessing let the house of your servant be blessed to time indefinite.”64

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.
