Chapter 15 of 2 SamuelNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ And it came about following such things that Abʹsa·lom proceeded to have a chariot made for himself, with horses and with fifty men running before him.1
  2. And Abʹsa·lom rose up early2 and stood at the side of the road to the gate.3 And it came about, when any man happened to have a legal case to come to the king for judgment,4 then Abʹsa·lom would call him and say: “From what city are you?” and he would say: “From one of the tribes of Israel your servant is.”
  3. And Abʹsa·lom would say to him: “See, your matters are good and straight; but there is no one from the king giving you a hearing.”5
  4. And Abʹsa·lom would go on to say: “O that I were appointed judge in the land,6 that to me every man might come that happens to have a legal case or judgment! Then I should certainly do justice to him.”7
  5. ¶ It also occurred that, when a man drew near to bow down to him, he thrust his hand out and grabbed hold of him8 and kissed him.
  6. And Abʹsa·lom kept doing a thing like this to all Israelites that would come in for judgment to the king; and Abʹsa·lom kept stealing the hearts of the men of Israel.9
  7. ¶ And it came about at the end of forty years[a] that Abʹsa·lom proceeded to say to the king: “Let me go, please, and pay in Heʹbron10 my vow that I solemnly made to Jehovah.11
  8. For your servant made a solemn vow12 when I was dwelling in Geshʹur13 in Syria, saying, ‘If Jehovah will without fail bring me back to Jerusalem, I must also render service to Jehovah.’”14
  9. So the king said to him: “Go in peace.”15 With that he rose up and went to Heʹbron.
  10. ¶ Abʹsa·lom now sent spies16 through all the tribes of Israel, saying: “As soon as YOU hear the sound of the horn, YOU must also say, ‘Abʹsa·lom has become king17 in Heʹbron!’”18
  11. Now there had gone with Abʹsa·lom two hundred men from Jerusalem, being called and going unsuspectingly,[b]19 and they did not know a single thing.
  12. Further, when he offered the sacrifices, Abʹsa·lom sent for[c] A·hithʹo·phel20 the Giʹlon·ite,21 David’s counselor,22 from his city Giʹloh.23 And the conspiracy24 kept getting stronger, and the people were continually growing in number25 with Abʹsa·lom.
  13. ¶ In time an informer came to David, saying: “The heart26 of the men of Israel has come to be behind Abʹsa·lom.”
  14. At once David said to all his servants that were with him in Jerusalem: “Get up, and let us run away;27 for there will prove to be no escaping for us because of Abʹsa·lom! Go hurriedly, for fear he may hurry up and actually catch up with us and bring down upon us what is bad and strike the city with the edge of the sword!”28
  15. At this the king’s servants said to the king: “According to all that my lord the king may choose, here are your servants.”29
  16. So the king went out with all his household at his feet,30 and the king left ten women, concubines,31 to take care of the house.
  17. And the king continued on his way out with all the people at his feet; and they came to a stop at Beth-merʹhak.[d]
  18. ¶ And all his servants were crossing at his side; and all the Cherʹe·thites and all the Pelʹe·thites32 and all the Gitʹtites,33 six hundred men that had followed him[e] from Gath,34 were crossing before the king’s face.
  19. Then the king said to Itʹtai35 the Gitʹtite: “Why should you yourself also go with us? Go back36 and dwell with the king; for you are a foreigner and, besides, you are an exile from your place.
  20. Yesterday was when you came and today shall I make you wander37 with us, to go when I am going wherever I am going? Go back and take your brothers back with you, [and may Jehovah exercise toward you][f] loving-kindness38 and trustworthiness!”39
  21. But Itʹtai answered the king and said: “As Jehovah is living and as my lord the king is living,40 in the place where my lord the king may come to be, whether for death or for life, there is where your servant will come to be!”41
  22. At that David said to Itʹtai:42 “Go and cross over.” So Itʹtai the Gitʹtite crossed over, and also all his men and all the little ones that were with him.
  23. ¶ And all the people of the land[g] were weeping with a loud voice,43 and all the people were crossing over, and the king was standing by the torrent valley of Kidʹron,44 and all the people were crossing over upon the open road to the wilderness.[h]
  24. And here also there were Zaʹdok45 and with him all the Levites46 carrying47 the ark48 of the covenant of the [true] God; and they proceeded to set the ark of the [true] God down by A·biʹa·thar[i]49 until all the people completed crossing over from the city.
  25. But the king said to Zaʹdok: “Take the ark50 of the [true] God back to the city.51 If I shall find favor in the eyes of Jehovah, he will also certainly bring me back and let me see it and its abiding place.52
  26. But if this is what he should say, ‘I have found no delight in you,’ here I am, let him do to me just as it is good in his eyes.”53
  27. And the king went on to say to Zaʹdok the priest: “You are a seer,54 are you? Do return to the city in peace, and also A·himʹa·az your son and Jonʹa·than55 the son of A·biʹa·thar, the two sons of YOU men, with YOU.
  28. See, I am lingering by the fords[j] of the wilderness until word comes from YOU men to inform me.”56
  29. Accordingly Zaʹdok and A·biʹa·thar took the ark of the [true] God back to Jerusalem, and they continued[k] to dwell there.
  30. ¶ And David was going up by the ascent of the Olives,57 weeping as he went up, with his head covered;58 and he was walking barefoot, and all the people that were with him covered each one his head, and they went up weeping as they went up.59
  31. And to David the report was made, saying: “A·hithʹo·phel himself is among those conspiring60 with Abʹsa·lom.”61 At this David said:62 “Turn, please, the counsel of A·hithʹo·phel into foolishness,63 O Jehovah!”64
  32. ¶ And it came about that when David himself came to the summit where people[l] used to bow down to God, here to meet him was Huʹshai65 the Arʹchite,66 with his robe ripped apart and dirt upon his head.67
  33. However, David said to him: “If you actually went across with me, you would then certainly become a load upon me.68
  34. But if you return to the city and you actually say to Abʹsa·lom, ‘I am your servant, O King. I used to prove myself the servant of your father, even I at that time, but now even I am your servant,’69 you must then frustrate70 the counsel of A·hithʹo·phel for me.
  35. Are not Zaʹdok and A·biʹa·thar the priests there with you?71 And it must occur that everything that you may hear from the house of the king you should tell to Zaʹdok and A·biʹa·thar the priests.72
  36. Look! There with them are their two sons, A·himʹa·az73 belonging to Zaʹdok and Jonʹa·than74 belonging to A·biʹa·thar; and by means of them YOU men must send to me everything that YOU may hear.”
  37. So Huʹshai, David’s companion,75 came into the city. As for Abʹsa·lom,76 he proceeded to come into Jerusalem.

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
