Chapter 13 of 2 SamuelNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ And it came about after such things that Abʹsa·lom1 the son of David had a beautiful sister whose name was Taʹmar,2 and Amʹnon3 the son of David fell in love4 with her.
  2. And it was so distressing to Amʹnon that he felt sick5 on account of Taʹmar his sister, because she was a virgin, and it was difficult in the eyes6 of Amʹnon to do anything at all to her.7
  3. Now Amʹnon had a companion whose name was Je·honʹa·dab,[a]8 the son of Shimʹe·ah,9 David’s brother; and Je·honʹa·dab was a very wise man.
  4. So he said to him: “Why are you, the son of the king, so downcast as this, morning by morning? Will you not tell me?”10 At this Amʹnon said to him: “With Taʹmar the sister11 of Abʹsa·lom my brother I am in love.”12
  5. Upon that Je·honʹa·dab said to him: “Lie down on your bed and play sick.13 And your father will certainly come to see you, and you must say to him, ‘Please, let Taʹmar my sister come in and give me bread as a patient, and she will have to make the bread of consolation under my eyes in order that I may see it, and I shall have to eat from her hand.’”14
  6. ¶ Accordingly Amʹnon lay down and played sick,15 and so the king came in to see him. Then Amʹnon said to the king: “Please, let Taʹmar my sister come in and bake two heart-shaped cakes under my eyes, that I may take bread as a patient from her hand.”
  7. At that David sent to Taʹmar at the house, saying: “Go, please, to the house of Amʹnon your brother and make the bread of consolation for him.”
  8. So Taʹmar went to the house of Amʹnon16 her brother while he was lying down. Then she took the flour dough and kneaded it and made the cakes under his eyes and cooked the heart-shaped cakes.[b]
  9. Finally she took the deep pan and poured it out before him, but Amʹnon refused to eat and said: “HAVE everybody go out from me!”17 Then everybody went out from him.
  10. ¶ Amʹnon now said to Taʹmar: “Bring the bread of consolation to the interior room, that I may take it as a patient from your hand.” So Taʹmar took the heart-shaped cakes that she had made and brought them in to Amʹnon her brother in the interior room.
  11. When she came near to him for him to eat, he at once grabbed18 hold of her and said to her: “Come, lie down19 with me, my sister.”20
  12. However, she said to him: “No, my brother! Do not humiliate21 me; for it is not usual to do that way in Israel.22 Do not do this disgraceful folly.23
  13. And I—where shall I cause my reproach to go? And you—you will become like one of the senseless men in Israel. And now speak, please, to the king; for he will not withhold me from you.”
  14. And he did not consent to listen to her voice, but used strength superior to hers and humiliated24 her and lay down with her.25
  15. And Amʹnon began hating her with a very great hatred, because the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her, so that Amʹnon said to her: “Get up, go away!”
  16. At this she said to him: “No, my brother; for[c] this badness in sending me away is greater than the other that you have done with me!” And he did not consent to listen to her.
  17. ¶ With that he called his attendant who waited upon him and said: “Send this person away from me, please, to the outside, and lock the door behind her.”
  18. (Now upon her there was a striped26 robe; for that was the way the daughters of the king, the virgins, used to dress with sleeveless coats.) So his waiter proceeded to lead her clear outside, and he locked the door behind her.
  19. Then Taʹmar placed ashes27 upon her head, and the striped robe that was upon her she ripped apart; and she kept her hands[d] put upon her head28 and went walking away, crying out as she walked.
  20. ¶ At this Abʹsa·lom29 her brother said to her: “Was it Amʹnon30 your brother that happened to be with you? And now, my sister, keep silent. He is your brother.31 Do not set your heart on this matter.” And Taʹmar began to dwell, while being kept from association [with others], at the house of Abʹsa·lom her brother.
  21. And King David himself heard about all these things,32 and he became very angry.33
  22. And Abʹsa·lom did not speak with Amʹnon either bad or good; for Abʹsa·lom hated34 Amʹnon over the fact that he had humiliated Taʹmar his sister.
  23. ¶ And it turned out after two full years that Abʹsa·lom came to have sheepshearers35 at Baʹal-haʹzor, which is close by Eʹphra·im;36 and Abʹsa·lom proceeded to invite all the sons of the king.37
  24. So Abʹsa·lom came in to the king and said: “Here, now, your servant has sheepshearers! Let the king go, please, and also his servants, with your servant.”
  25. But the king said to Abʹsa·lom: “No, my son! Do not let all of us go, please, that we may not be a burden upon you.” Although he kept urging38 him, he did not consent to go but blessed39 him.
  26. Finally Abʹsa·lom said: “If not [you], let Amʹnon my brother go with us, please.”40 At this the king said to him: “Why should he go with you?”
  27. And Abʹsa·lom began to urge41 him, so that he sent Amʹnon and all the sons of the king[e] with him.
  28. ¶ Then Abʹsa·lom commanded his attendants, saying: “See, please, that just as soon as Amʹnon’s heart is in a merry mood with wine,42 and I shall certainly say to YOU, ‘Strike down Amʹnon!’ YOU must then put him to death. Do not be afraid.43 Have not I myself commanded YOU? Be strong and prove yourselves to be valiant men.”
  29. And Abʹsa·lom’s attendants proceeded to do to Amʹnon just as Abʹsa·lom had commanded;44 and all the other sons of the king began to rise up and mount each one his mule[f] and take to flight.
  30. And it came about that, while they were on the way, the report itself came to David, saying: “Abʹsa·lom has struck down all the sons of the king, and not one of them has been left over.”
  31. At this the king got up and ripped his clothes apart45 and lay upon the earth,46 and all his servants were standing by with their garments ripped47 apart.[g]
  32. ¶ However, Je·honʹa·dab48 the son of Shimʹe·ah,49 David’s brother, answered and said: “Do not let my lord think that it is all the young men the sons of the king that they have put to death, for it is Amʹnon alone that has died,50 because at the order of Abʹsa·lom it has occurred as something appointed51 from the day that he humiliated52 Taʹmar his sister.53
  33. And now do not let my lord the king take to his heart the word, saying, ‘All the king’s sons themselves have died’; but it is Amʹnon alone that has died.”
  34. ¶ Meantime, Abʹsa·lom went running away.54 Later the young man, the watchman,55 raised his eyes and saw, and, look! there were many people coming from the road behind him by the mountainside.[h]
  35. At this Je·honʹa·dab56 said to the king: “Look! The king’s sons themselves have come in. In accord with the word of your servant so it has taken place.”57
  36. And it came about that, as soon as he finished speaking, here the king’s sons themselves came in, and they began to raise their voice and weep; and even the king and all his servants wept with a very great weeping.
  37. As for Abʹsa·lom, he ran off that he might go to Talʹmai58 the son of Am·miʹhud the king of Geshʹur.59 And [David][i] continued to mourn60 over his son all the days.
  38. As for Abʹsa·lom, he ran off and made his way to Geshʹur;61 and he came to be there three years.
  39. ¶ Finally [the soul of][j] David the king longed to go out[k] to Abʹsa·lom; for he had comforted himself concerning Amʹnon, because he was dead.

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
