Chapter 9 of 2 KingsNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ And E·liʹsha the prophet, for his part, called one of the sons1 of the prophets and then said to him: “Gird up your loins2 and take this flask[a]3 of oil in your hand and go to Raʹmoth-gilʹe·ad.4
  2. When you have come in there, see Jeʹhu5 the son of Je·hoshʹa·phat the son of Nimʹshi there; and you must come in and make him get up from the midst of his brothers and bring him into the innermost chamber.6
  3. And you must take the flask of oil and pour it out upon his head7 and say, ‘This is what Jehovah has said: “I do anoint8 you as king9 over Israel.”’ And you must open the door and flee and not wait.”
  4. ¶ And the attendant, the prophet’s attendant, got on his way to Raʹmoth-gilʹe·ad.
  5. When he came in, why, there the chiefs of the military force were seated. He now said: “There is a word I have for you,10 O chief.” At this Jeʹhu said: “For which one of all of us?” Then he said: “For you, O chief.”
  6. So he got up and came into the house; and he proceeded to pour the oil out upon his head and say to him: “This is what Jehovah the God of Israel has said, ‘I do anoint you as king11 over Jehovah’s people,12 that is, over Israel.
  7. And you must strike down the house of Aʹhab your lord, and I must avenge13 the blood[b] of my servants the prophets and the blood of all the servants of Jehovah at the hand of Jezʹe·bel.14
  8. And the whole house of Aʹhab must perish; and I must cut off from Aʹhab15 anyone urinating against a wall[c]16 and any helpless and worthless one[d]17 in Israel.
  9. And I must constitute the house of Aʹhab like the house of Jer·o·boʹam18 the son of Neʹbat and like the house of Baʹa·sha19 the son of A·hiʹjah.
  10. And Jezʹe·bel the dogs will eat20 up in the tract of land at Jezʹre·el, and there will be no one burying her.’” With that he opened the door and went fleeing.21
  11. ¶ As for Jeʹhu, he went out to the servants of his lord, and they began to say to him: “Is everything all right?22 Why did this crazy23 man come in to you?” But he said to them: “YOU yourselves well know the man and his sort of talk.”
  12. But they said: “It is false![e] Tell us, please.” Then he said: “It was like this and like that that he talked to me, saying, ‘This is what Jehovah has said: “I do anoint you as king over Israel.”’”24
  13. At this they hurriedly took each one his garment25 and put it under him upon the bare steps, and they began to blow the horn26 and say: “Jeʹhu has become king!”27
  14. And Jeʹhu28 the son of Je·hoshʹa·phat the son of Nimʹshi29 proceeded to conspire30 against Je·hoʹram.[f]
¶ And Je·hoʹram himself had happened to be keeping guard at Raʹmoth-gilʹe·ad,31 he with all Israel, because of Hazʹa·el32 the king of Syria.
  15. Later Je·hoʹram33 the king returned to get healed at Jezʹre·el34 from the wounds that the Syrians got to inflict upon him when he fought Hazʹa·el the king of Syria.35
¶ Jeʹhu now said: “If YOUR soul agrees,[g]36 do not let anyone go out in escape from the city to go and make report in Jezʹre·el.”
  16. And Jeʹhu began to ride and go to Jezʹre·el; for Je·hoʹram was lying there, and A·ha·ziʹah[h]37 the king of Judah himself had gone down to see Je·hoʹram.
  17. And the watchman38 was standing upon the tower39 in Jezʹre·el,40 and he got to see the heaving mass of Jeʹhu’s [men] as he was coming, and he at once said: “There is a heaving mass [of men] that I am seeing.” At that Je·hoʹram said: “Take a cavalryman and send him to meet them, and let him say, ‘Is there peace?’”41
  18. Accordingly a rider on a horse went to meet him and said: “This is what the king has said, ‘Is there peace?’” But Jeʹhu said: “What do you have to do with ‘peace’?[i]42 Get around to my rear!”
¶ And the watchman43 went on to report, saying: “The messenger came as far as to them, but he has not returned.”
  19. So he sent out a second rider on a horse, who, when he came to them, proceeded to say: “This is what the king has said, ‘Is there peace?’” But Jeʹhu said: “What do you have to do with ‘peace’?44 Get around to my rear!”
  20. ¶ And the watchman went on to report, saying: “He came as far as to them, but he has not returned; and the driving is like the driving of Jeʹhu45 the grandson[j] of Nimʹshi,46 for it is with madness that he drives.”47
  21. At that Je·hoʹram said: “Hitch up!”48 So his war chariot was hitched up and Je·hoʹram the king of Israel and A·ha·ziʹah49 the king of Judah went out, each in his own war chariot. As they continued on out to meet Jeʹhu, they got to find him in the tract of land of Naʹboth50 the Jezʹre·el·ite.
  22. ¶ And it came about that as soon as Je·hoʹram saw Jeʹhu, he immediately said: “Is there peace, Jeʹhu?” But he said: “What peace51 could there be as long as there are the fornications of Jezʹe·bel52 your mother and her many sorceries?”53
  23. At once Je·hoʹram made a turn with his hands, that he might flee, and said to A·ha·ziʹah: “There is trickery,54 A·ha·ziʹah!”
  24. And Jeʹhu himself filled his hand with a bow55 and proceeded to shoot Je·hoʹram between the arms, so that the arrow came out at his heart, and he collapsed in his war chariot.56
  25. He now said to Bidʹkar[k] his adjutant:57 “Lift him up; throw him into the tract of the field of Naʹboth the Jezʹre·el·ite;58 for remember: I and you were riding teams behind Aʹhab his father, and Jehovah himself lifted up this pronouncement59 against him:
  26. ‘“Certainly the blood60 of Naʹboth and the blood of his sons61 I saw yesterday,” is the utterance of Jehovah, “and I shall certainly repay62 you in this tract of land,” is the utterance of Jehovah.’ So now, lift him up; throw him into the tract of land according to the word of Jehovah.”63
  27. ¶ And A·ha·ziʹah64 the king of Judah himself saw it and took to flight by the way of the garden house.65 (Later[l] Jeʹhu went in pursuit of him and said: “Him also! STRIKE him down!” So they struck him down[m] while in the chariot on the way up to Gur, which is by Ibʹle·am.66 And he continued his flight to Me·gidʹdo67 and got to die there.68
  28. Then his servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and so they buried him in his grave with his forefathers in the City of David.69
  29. And it was in the eleventh year of Je·hoʹram70 the son of Aʹhab that A·ha·ziʹah71 had become king over Judah.)
  30. ¶ At length Jeʹhu came to Jezʹre·el,72 and Jezʹe·bel73 herself heard of it. And she proceeded to paint74 her eyes with black paint and do her head up beautifully75 and to look down through the window.76
  31. And Jeʹhu himself came in by the gate. She now said: “Did it go all right with Zimʹri77 the killer of his lord?”
  32. At that he raised his face toward the window and said: “Who is with me? Who?”78 Immediately two or three court officials79 looked down at him.
  33. So he said: “Let her drop!”80 Then they let her drop, and some of her blood went spattering upon the wall and upon the horses; and he now trampled81 upon her.
  34. After that he came on in and ate and drank and then said: “YOU men, please, take care of this accursed82 one and bury her, for she is the daughter of a king.”83
  35. When they went to bury her, they did not find anything of her but the skull and the feet and the palms of the hands.84
  36. When they returned and told him, he went on to say: “It is the word of Jehovah that he spoke by means85 of his servant E·liʹjah[n] the Tishʹbite, saying, ‘In the tract of land of Jezʹre·el the dogs will eat the flesh of Jezʹe·bel.86
  37. And the dead body of Jezʹe·bel will certainly become as manure87 upon the face of the field in the tract of land of Jezʹre·el, that they may not say: “This is Jezʹe·bel.”’”88

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
