Chapter 25 of 2 KingsNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ And it came about in the ninth1 year of his being king, in the tenth month on the tenth2 day of the month, that Neb·u·chad·nezʹzar3 the king of Babylon came,4 yes, he and all his military force, against Jerusalem and began camping against it and building against it a siege wall all around.5
  2. And the city came to be under siege until the eleventh year of King Zed·e·kiʹah.
  3. On the ninth6 day of the [fourth] month[a] the famine7 was severe in the city, and there proved to be no bread8 for the people of the land.
  4. And the city got to be breached,9 and all the men of war [fled][b] by night by the way of the gate between the double wall that is by the king’s garden,10 while the Chal·deʹans11 were all around against the city; and [the king][c] began to go12 in the direction of the Arʹa·bah.13
  5. And a military force of Chal·deʹans14 went chasing after the king, and they got to overtake him15 in the desert plains of Jerʹi·cho;16 and all his own military force was scattered from his side.
  6. Then they seized the king17 and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Ribʹlah,18 that they might pronounce a judicial decision upon him.
  7. And Zed·e·kiʹah’s sons they slaughtered before his eyes,19 and Zed·e·kiʹah’s eyes he blinded,20 after which he bound him with copper fetters21 and brought him to Babylon.22
  8. ¶ And in the fifth month on the seventh [day] of the month, that is to say, the nineteenth23 year of King Neb·u·chad·nezʹzar the king of Babylon, Neb·uʹzar·adʹan24 the chief of the bodyguard, the servant of the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem.25
  9. And he proceeded to burn the house26 of Jehovah and the king’s house27 and all the houses of Jerusalem;28 and the house of every great man[d] he burned with fire.29
  10. And the walls of Jerusalem, all around, the entire military force of Chal·deʹans that were with the chief of the bodyguard pulled down.30
  11. And the rest of the people31 that were left behind in the city and the deserters that had gone over[e] to the king of Babylon and the rest of the crowd Neb·uʹzar·adʹan the chief of the bodyguard took into exile.32
  12. And some of the lowly people33 of the land the chief of the bodyguard let remain as vinedressers and compulsory laborers.34
  13. And the pillars35 of copper that were in the house of Jehovah, and the carriages36 and the copper sea37 that were in the house of Jehovah, the Chal·deʹans broke in pieces and went carrying the copper of them to Babylon.38
  14. And the cans and the shovels and the extinguishers and the cups and all the utensils39 of copper with which they used to minister they took.
  15. And the chief of the bodyguard took the fire holders and the bowls that were of genuine gold40 and those that were of genuine silver.41
  16. As for the two pillars, the one sea and the carriages that Solʹo·mon had made for the house of Jehovah, there happened to be no way to tell the weight of the copper of all these utensils.42
  17. Eighteen cubits43 was the height of each pillar, and the capital44 upon it was of copper; and the height of the capital was three[f] cubits; and the network and the pomegranates45 all around upon the capital, the whole of it, was copper; and the second pillar had the same as these upon the network.
  18. ¶ Furthermore, the chief of the bodyguard took Se·raiʹah46 the chief priest[g] and Zeph·a·niʹah[h]47 the second priest and three doorkeepers;48
  19. and from the city he took one court official that had a command over the men of war, and five men from those having access to the king[i] that were found in the city; and the secretary of the chief of the army, the one mustering the people of the land, and sixty men of the people of the land that were to be found in the city;49
  20. and Neb·uʹzar·adʹan50 the chief of the bodyguard then took them51 and conducted them to the king of Babylon at Ribʹlah.52
  21. And the king of Babylon proceeded to strike them down53 and put them to death at Ribʹlah in the land of Haʹmath.54 Thus Judah went into exile from off its soil.55
  22. ¶ As for the people56 left behind in the land of Judah, whom Neb·u·chad·nezʹzar the king of Babylon had left behind, he now appointed over them Ged·a·liʹah[j]57 the son of A·hiʹkam58 the son of Shaʹphan.59
  23. When all the chiefs of the military forces,60 they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Ged·a·liʹah, they immediately came to Ged·a·liʹah at Mizʹpah,61 that is, Ishʹma·el the son of Neth·a·niʹah and Jo·haʹnan the son of Ka·reʹah and Se·raiʹah the son of Tan·huʹmeth the Ne·tophʹa·thite and Ja·az·a·niʹah[k] the son of the Ma·acʹa·thite, they and their men.
  24. Then Ged·a·liʹah swore62 to them and their men and said to them: “Do not be afraid of [being] servants to the Chal·deʹans. Dwell in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will go well with YOU.”63
  25. ¶ And it came about in the seventh64 month that Ishʹma·el65 the son of Neth·a·niʹah the son of E·lishʹa·ma of the royal offspring came, and also ten men with him, and they got to strike down Ged·a·liʹah,66 so that he died, and also the Jews and the Chal·deʹans that happened to be with him in Mizʹpah.67
  26. After that all the people, from small to great, and the chiefs of the military forces rose up and came into Egypt;68 for they had become afraid because of the Chal·deʹans.69
  27. ¶ And it came about in the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Je·hoiʹa·chin70 the king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, that Eʹvil-merʹo·dach71 the king of Babylon, in the year of his becoming king, raised up the head72 of Je·hoiʹa·chin the king of Judah out of the house of detention;
  28. and he began to speak good things with him, and then put his throne higher than the thrones of the kings that were with him in Babylon.73
  29. And he took off his prison garments;74 and he ate bread75 constantly before him all the days of his life.
  30. As for his allowance,76 an allowance was constantly given him from the king, daily as due,[l] all the days of his life.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
