Chapter 13 of 2 KingsNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ In the twenty-third year of Je·hoʹash1 the son of A·ha·ziʹah2 the king of Judah, Je·hoʹa·haz3 the son of Jeʹhu4 became king over Israel in Sa·marʹi·a for seventeen years.
  2. And he continued to do what was bad in Jehovah’s eyes5 and went walking in pursuit of the sin of Jer·o·boʹam6 the son of Neʹbat, with which he caused Israel to sin.7 He did not turn aside from it.
  3. And Jehovah’s anger8 became hot against Israel, so that he gave them into the hand of Hazʹa·el9 the king of Syria and into the hand of Ben-haʹdad10 the son of Hazʹa·el all their days.
  4. ¶ In time Je·hoʹa·haz softened11 the face of Jehovah, so that Jehovah listened12 to him; for he had seen the oppression upon Israel,13 because the king of Syria had oppressed them.14
  5. Consequently Jehovah gave Israel a savior,15 so that they came out from under the hand of Syria, and the sons of Israel continued to dwell in their homes[a] as formerly.16
  6. (Only they did not depart from the sin of the house of Jer·o·boʹam, with which he caused Israel to sin.17 In it he walked;18 and even the sacred pole[b]19 itself stood in Sa·marʹi·a.)
  7. For he had not left to Je·hoʹa·haz any people but fifty horsemen and ten chariots and ten thousand men on foot,20 because the king of Syria had destroyed them,21 that he might make them like the dust at threshing.22
  8. ¶ As for the rest of the affairs of Je·hoʹa·haz and all that he did and his mightiness, are they not written in the book23 of the affairs of the days of the kings of Israel?
  9. Finally Je·hoʹa·haz lay down with his forefathers, and they buried him in Sa·marʹi·a;24 and Je·hoʹash25 his son began to reign in place of him.
  10. ¶ In the thirty-seventh year of Je·hoʹash the king of Judah, Je·hoʹash26 the son of Je·hoʹa·haz became king over Israel in Sa·marʹi·a for sixteen years.
  11. And he continued to do what was bad in Jehovah’s eyes.27 He did not depart from all the sins of Jer·o·boʹam the son of Neʹbat, with which he made Israel sin.28 In them he walked.
  12. ¶ As for the rest of the affairs of Je·hoʹash and all that he did and his mightiness [and] how he fought29 against Am·a·ziʹah the king of Judah, are they not written in the book30 of the affairs of the days of the kings of Israel?
  13. Finally Je·hoʹash lay down with his forefathers, and Jer·o·boʹam[c]31 himself sat upon his throne. In turn Je·hoʹash was buried in Sa·marʹi·a with the kings of Israel.32
  14. ¶ As regards E·liʹsha,33 he had taken sick with the sickness with which he was to die.34 So Je·hoʹash the king of Israel came down to him and began to weep over his face and say: “My father,35 my father, the war chariot[d] of Israel and his horsemen!”36
  15. And E·liʹsha proceeded to say to him: “Take a bow and arrows.” So he took to himself a bow and arrows.
  16. And he went on to say to the king of Israel: “Put your hand to the bow.”[e] Accordingly he put his hand to it, after which E·liʹsha laid his hands upon the hands37 of the king.
  17. Then he said: “Open the window to the east.” So he opened it. Finally E·liʹsha said: “Shoot!” So he shot. He now said: “Jehovah’s arrow of salvation, even the arrow of salvation38 against Syria! And you will certainly strike down Syria at Aʹphek39 to the finishing point.”
  18. ¶ And he went on to say: “Take the arrows.” At that he took [them]. Then he said to the king of Israel: “Strike on the earth.” So he struck three times and stopped.40
  19. And the man of the [true] God41 grew indignant at him; hence he said: “It was meant to strike five or six times![f] In that case you would certainly be striking down Syria to the finishing point, but now it is three times that you will strike down Syria.”42
  20. ¶ After that E·liʹsha died and they buried him.43 And there were marauding bands44 of the Moʹab·ites45 that regularly came into the land at the coming in of the year.
  21. And it came about that as they were burying a man, why, here they saw the marauding band. At once they threw the man into E·liʹsha’s burial place and went off. When the man touched the bones of E·liʹsha, he immediately came to life46 and stood upon his feet.47
  22. ¶ As for Hazʹa·el48 the king of Syria, he oppressed49 Israel all the days of Je·hoʹa·haz.
  23. However, Jehovah showed them favor50 and had mercy51 upon them and turned to them for the sake of his covenant52 with Abraham,53 Isaac54 and Jacob;55 and he did not want to bring them to ruin,56 and he did not cast them away from before his face until now.
  24. Finally Hazʹa·el the king of Syria died, and Ben-haʹdad his son began to reign in place of him.
  25. And Je·hoʹash the son of Je·hoʹa·haz proceeded to take back again from the hand of Ben-haʹdad the son of Hazʹa·el the cities that he had taken from the hand of Je·hoʹa·haz his father in war. Three times Je·hoʹash struck him down, and he got to recover the cities of Israel.57

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
