Chapter 6 of 2 ChroniclesNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ It was then that Solʹo·mon said:1 “Jehovah himself said he was to reside in the thick gloom;2
  2. and I, for my part, have built a house of lofty abode for you3 and an established place for you to dwell in to time indefinite.”[a]4
  3. ¶ Then the king turned his face and began to bless5 all the congregation[b] of Israel, while all the congregation of Israel were standing up.6
  4. And he went on to say: “Blessed be Jehovah the God of Israel,7 who spoke with his own mouth with David my father8 and by his own hands has given fulfillment,9 saying,
  5. ‘From the day that I brought my people out from the land of Egypt I have not chosen a city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house for my name10 to prove to be there, and I have not chosen a man to become leader over my people Israel.11
  6. But I shall choose Jerusalem12 for my name to prove to be there, and I shall choose David to come to be over my people Israel.’13
  7. And it came to be close to the heart of David my father to build a house to the name of Jehovah the God of Israel.14
  8. But Jehovah said to David my father, ‘For the reason that it proved to be close to your heart to build a house to my name, you did well because it proved to be close to your heart.15
  9. Only you yourself will not build the house,16 but your son who is coming forth from your loins is the one that will build the house to my name.’17
  10. And Jehovah proceeded to carry out his word18 that he had spoken, that I might rise up in the place of David my father19 and sit upon the throne20 of Israel, just as Jehovah had spoken,21 and that I might build the house to the name of Jehovah the God of Israel,22
  11. and that I might place there the ark23 where the covenant of Jehovah is that he concluded with the sons of Israel.”24
  12. ¶ And he began standing before the altar of Jehovah in front of all the congregation of Israel,25 and he now spread out his palms.26
  13. (For Solʹo·mon had made a platform27 of copper and then put it in the middle of the enclosure.28 Its length was five cubits,[c] and its width five cubits, and its height three cubits; and he kept standing upon it.) And he proceeded to kneel29 upon his knees in front of all the congregation of Israel and to spread his palms out to the heavens.30
  14. And he went on to say: “O Jehovah the God of Israel,31 there is no God[d] like you32 in the heavens or on the earth, keeping the covenant33 and the loving-kindness toward your servants who are walking before you with all their heart;34
  15. you who have kept toward your servant David my father what you promised him,35 so that you made the promise[e] with your mouth, and with your own hand you have made fulfillment as at this day.36
  16. And now, O Jehovah the God of Israel, keep toward your servant David my father what you promised him, saying, ‘There will not be cut off a man of yours from before me to sit upon the throne of Israel,37 if only your sons38 will take care of their way by walking in my law,39 just as you have walked before me.’40
  17. And now, O Jehovah the God of Israel,41 let your promise[f]42 that you have promised to your servant David prove trustworthy.43
  18. ¶ “But will God truly dwell with mankind[g] upon the earth?44 Look! Heaven, yes, the heaven of the heavens themselves, cannot contain you;45 how much less, then, this house that I have built?46
  19. And you must turn toward the prayer of your servant47 and to his request for favor,48 O Jehovah my God, by listening to the entreating cry49 and to the prayer with which your servant is praying before you,50
  20. that your eyes may prove to be opened51 toward this house day and night, toward the place where you said you would put your name,52 by listening to the prayer with which your servant prays toward this place.53
  21. And you must listen to the entreaties of your servant54 and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place,55 that you yourself may hear from the place of your dwelling, from the heavens;56 and you must hear and forgive.57
  22. ¶ “If a man sins against his fellowman58 and he actually lays a cursing upon him to bring him under liability59 to the curse, and he actually comes [within] the curse before your altar in this house,60
  23. then may you yourself hear from the heavens,61 and you must act62 and judge your servants so as to pay back the wicked by putting his course[h] upon his own head63 and by pronouncing the righteous one righteous64 by giving to him according to his own righteousness.65
  24. ¶ “And if your people Israel are defeated before an enemy66 because they kept sinning against you,67 and they indeed return68 and laud your name69 and pray70 and make request for favor before you in this house,71
  25. then may you yourself hear from the heavens,72 and you must forgive73 the sin of your people Israel and bring them back74 to the ground that you gave to them and their forefathers.75
  26. ¶ “When the heavens are shut up so that no rain occurs76 because they kept sinning77 against you, and they actually pray toward this place78 and laud your name [and] from their sin they turn back because you kept afflicting them,79
  27. then may you yourself hear from the heavens, and you must forgive the sin of your servants, even of your people Israel, because you instruct80 them regarding the good way81 in which they should walk; and you must give rain82 upon your land that you have given to your people as a hereditary possession.83
  28. ¶ “In case a famine84 occurs in the land, in case a pestilence85 occurs, in case scorching86 and mildew,87 locusts88 and cockroaches89 occur; in case their enemies90 besiege them in the land of their gates[i]91—any sort of plague and any sort of malady92
  29. whatever prayer,93 whatever request for favor94 there may occur on the part of any man or of all your people Israel,95 because they know each one his own plague96 and his own pain; when he actually spreads out his palms toward this house,97
  30. then may you yourself hear from the heavens, the place of your dwelling,98 and you must forgive99 and give to each one according to all his ways,100 because you know his heart101 (for you yourself alone well know the heart of the sons of mankind);102
  31. to the end that they may fear103 you by walking in your ways all the days that they are alive upon the surface of the ground that you gave to our forefathers.104
  32. ¶ “And also to the foreigner who is no part of your people Israel105 and who actually comes from a distant land by reason of your great name106 and your strong hand107 and your stretched-out arm,108 and they actually come and pray toward this house,109
  33. then may you yourself listen from the heavens, from your established place of dwelling,110 and you must do according to all for which the foreigner calls to you;111 in order that all the peoples of the earth may know your name112 and may fear113 you the same as your people Israel do, and may know that your name has been called upon this house that I have built.114
  34. ¶ “In case your people go out to the war115 against their enemies in the way that you send116 them, and they indeed pray117 to you in the direction of this city that you have chosen and the house that I have built to your name,118
  35. you must also hear from the heavens their prayer and their request for favor,119 and you must execute judgment for them.120
  36. ¶ “In case they sin against you121 (for there is no man that does not sin),122 and you have to be incensed at them and abandon them to an enemy, and their captors actually carry them off captive to a land distant or nearby;123
  37. and they indeed come to their senses in the land where they have been carried off captive, and they actually return and make request to you for favor in the land where they are captives,124 saying, ‘We have sinned,125 we have erred126 and we have acted wickedly’;127
  38. and they indeed return to you with all their heart128 and with all their soul in the land where they are captives129 of those who carried them off captive, and they indeed pray in the direction of their land that you gave to their forefathers and the city that you have chosen130 and the house that I have built to your name;131
  39. you must also hear from the heavens, from your established place of dwelling,132 their prayer and their requests for favor,133 and you must execute judgment134 for them and forgive135 your people who have sinned against you.
  40. ¶ “Now, O my God, please, let your eyes136 prove to be opened and your ears137 attentive to the prayer respecting this place.
  41. And now do rise up,138 O Jehovah God, into your rest,139 you and the Ark of your strength.140 Let your priests themselves, O Jehovah God, be clothed with salvation, and let your loyal ones themselves rejoice in goodness.141
  42. O Jehovah God, do not turn back the face of your anointed one.[j]142 O do remember the loving-kindnesses[k] to David your servant.”143

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!

I live in Dover, Delaware. My boyfriend Juan Tover and I have been dating for the past 4 yrs we were to get married in September of this year but it never happened..he constantly messes around with his ex's and other females every time he got caught he apologized and tell me to forgive him and I keep taking him back because I'm truly in love with this man but after a while he started messing around again...what can I do to make this man to love me and stop the messing around so we could get married and start our family? I am very happy I contacted Priest Salami regarding my problem. My boyfriend is now my HUSBAND. We got married 2 weeks ago in the United Church in Dover. My problem was solved. I am extremely happy to put his email purenaturalhealer@gmail.com  to anyone out there looking to solve his/her relationship problem. You can also WhatsApp him with his mobile number +2348105150446
