Chapter 34 of 2 ChroniclesNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Eight1 years old was Jo·siʹah2 when he began to reign, and for thirty-one years he reigned in Jerusalem.3
  2. And he proceeded to do what was right in Jehovah’s eyes4 and walk in the ways of David his forefather;5 and he did not turn aside to the right or to the left.6
  3. ¶ And in the eighth year of his reigning, while he was still a boy,7 he started to search8 for the God of David his forefather; and in the twelfth year he started to cleanse9 Judah and Jerusalem from the high places10 and the sacred poles11 and the graven images12 and the molten statues.
  4. Further, they pulled down before him the altars13 of the Baʹals;14 and the incense stands15 that were up above he cut down from off them; and the sacred poles16 and the graven images17 and the molten statues he broke in pieces and reduced to powder,18 and then sprinkled [it] upon the surface of the burial places of those that used to sacrifice to them.19
  5. And the bones20 of priests he burned upon their altars.21 Thus he cleansed Judah and Jerusalem.
  6. ¶ Also, in the cities of Ma·nasʹseh22 and Eʹphra·im23 and Simʹe·on and clear to Naphʹta·li, in their devastated places all around,
  7. he even went pulling down the altars24 and the sacred poles,25 and the graven images26 he crushed and reduced to powder;27 and all the incense stands28 he cut down in all the land of Israel, after which he returned to Jerusalem.
  8. ¶ And in the eighteenth29 year of his reigning, when he had cleansed the land and the house, he sent Shaʹphan30 the son of Az·a·liʹah and Ma·a·seiʹah the chief of the city and Joʹah the son of Joʹa·haz the recorder to repair31 the house of Jehovah his God.
  9. And they proceeded to come to Hil·kiʹah[a]32 the high priest[b] and give the money that was being brought to the house of God, which the Levites the doorkeepers33 had gathered from the hand of Ma·nasʹseh34 and Eʹphra·im35 and from all the rest of Israel36 and from all Judah and Benjamin and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.[c]
  10. Then they put [it] into the hand of the doers[d] of the work that were appointed over[e] the house of Jehovah.37 In turn the doers of the work who were active in the house of Jehovah applied it to mending and repairing the house.
  11. So they gave it to the craftsmen and the builders38 to buy hewn stones39 and timbers for clamps and to build with beams the houses that the kings40 of Judah had brought to ruin.
  12. ¶ And the men were acting in faithfulness41 in the work; and over them there were appointed Jaʹhath and O·ba·diʹah the Levites, from the sons of Me·rarʹi,42 and Zech·a·riʹah and Me·shulʹlam, from the sons of the Koʹhath·ites,43 to act as overseers. And the Levites, each of whom was expert with the instruments of song,44
  13. were over the burden bearers,45 and the overseers46 of all the doers of the work for the different services; and from the Levites47 there were secretaries48 and officers and gatekeepers.49
  14. ¶ Now while they were bringing out the money50 that was being brought to the house of Jehovah, Hil·kiʹah51 the priest found the book52 of Jehovah’s law53 by the hand of Moses.54
  15. So Hil·kiʹah answered and said to Shaʹphan55 the secretary: “The very book of the law I have found in the house of Jehovah.” With that Hil·kiʹah gave the book to Shaʹphan.
  16. Then Shaʹphan brought the book to the king and replied further to the king, saying: “All that has been put in the hand of your servants they are doing.
  17. And they pour out the money that is found in the house of Jehovah and put it in the hand of the appointed men and into the hand of the doers of the work.”56
  18. And Shaʹphan the secretary went on to report to the king, saying: “There is a book57 that Hil·kiʹah the priest gave me.”58 And Shaʹphan began to read out of it before the king.59
  19. ¶ And it came about that as soon as the king heard the words of the law, he immediately ripped his garments apart.60
  20. Then the king commanded Hil·kiʹah61 and A·hiʹkam62 the son of Shaʹphan and Abʹdon the son of Miʹcah and Shaʹphan63 the secretary64 and A·saiʹah65 the king’s servant, saying:
  21. “Go, inquire66 of Jehovah in my own behalf67 and in behalf of what is left in Israel and in Judah concerning the words of the book68 that has been found, for great is Jehovah’s rage69 that must be poured out against us because of the fact that our forefathers did not keep the word of Jehovah by doing according to all that is written in this book.”70
  22. ¶ Accordingly Hil·kiʹah along with those whom the king [had said][f] went to Hulʹdah71 the prophetess,72 the wife of Shalʹlum the son of Tikʹvah[g] the son of Harʹhas[h] the caretaker73 of the garments, as she was dwelling in Jerusalem in the second quarter; and they proceeded to speak to her like this.
  23. In turn she said to them:
¶ “This is what Jehovah the God of Israel has said, ‘SAY[i] to the man that sent YOU to me:
  24. “This is what Jehovah has said, ‘Here I am bringing calamity74 upon this place and its inhabitants,75 all the curses76 that are written in the book that they read before the king of Judah,77
  25. due to the fact that they have left me78 and gone making sacrificial smoke to other gods,79 in order to offend80 me with all the doings of their hands81 and that my rage82 may pour forth upon this place and not be extinguished.’”83
  26. And to the king of Judah, who is sending YOU to inquire of Jehovah, this is what YOU should say to him: “This is what Jehovah the God of Israel has said,84 ‘As regards the words85 that you have heard,
  27. for the reason that your heart86 was soft so that you humbled87 yourself because of God[j] at your hearing his words concerning this place and its inhabitants, and you humbled yourself before me88 and ripped89 your garments apart and wept before me, I, even I, have heard,90 is the utterance of Jehovah.
  28. Here I am gathering you to your forefathers, and you will certainly be gathered to your graveyard[k] in peace,91 and your eyes will not look upon all the calamity92 that I am bringing upon this place and its inhabitants.’”’”93
¶ Then they brought the reply to the king.
  29. And the king proceeded to send and gather all the older men of Judah and of Jerusalem.94
  30. The king now went up to the house of Jehovah95 with all the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the priests96 and the Levites and all the people, the great as well as the small; and he began to read97 in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant, which had been found at the house of Jehovah.98
  31. And the king kept standing in his place99 and proceeded to conclude the covenant100 before Jehovah to go following Jehovah and to keep his commandments101 and his testimonies102 and his regulations103 with all his heart104 and with all his soul,105 to perform106 the words of the covenant that were written in this book.107
  32. Furthermore, he had all those who were found in Jerusalem and Benjamin to take their stand [to it]. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem proceeded to do according to the covenant of God, the God of their forefathers.108
  33. After that Jo·siʹah removed all the detestable109 things out of all the lands that belonged to the sons of Israel,110 and he had all who were found in Israel take up service, to serve Jehovah their God. All his days they did not turn aside from following Jehovah the God of their forefathers.111

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
