Chapter 29 of 2 ChroniclesNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Hez·e·kiʹah[a]1 himself became king at the age of twenty-five years, and for twenty-nine years he reigned in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was A·biʹjah the daughter of Zech·a·riʹah.2
  2. And he kept doing what was right in Jehovah’s eyes,3 according to all that David his forefather had done.4
  3. He himself, in the first year of his reigning, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of Jehovah and began to repair them.5
  4. Then he brought the priests and the Levites and gathered them to the open place6 to the east.
  5. And he proceeded to say to them: “Listen to me, YOU Levites. Now sanctify7 yourselves and sanctify the house of Jehovah the God of YOUR forefathers, and bring the impure thing out from the holy place.8
  6. For our fathers have acted unfaithfully9 and have done what was bad in the eyes of Jehovah our God,10 so that they left him11 and turned around their face away from the tabernacle of Jehovah12 and offered the back of the neck.
  7. They also closed the doors13 of the porch and kept the lamps extinguished,14 and incense they did not burn,15 and burnt sacrifice they did not offer up in the holy place to the God of Israel.16
  8. And Jehovah’s indignation17 came to be against Judah and Jerusalem, so that he constituted them an object at which to quake,18 an object of astonishment19 and a cause for whistling,20 just as YOU are seeing with YOUR own eyes.
  9. And here our forefathers fell by the sword,21 and our sons and our daughters and our wives were in captivity for this.22
  10. Now it is close to my heart to conclude a covenant23 with Jehovah the God of Israel, that his burning anger may turn back from us.
  11. Now, my sons, do not give yourselves up to rest,24 for YOU are the ones whom Jehovah has chosen to stand before him to minister to him25 and to continue as his ministers26 and makers of sacrificial smoke.”27
  12. ¶ At that the Levites28 rose up, Maʹhath the son of A·maʹsai and Joel the son of Az·a·riʹah of the sons of the Koʹhath·ites;29 and from the sons of Me·rarʹi,30 Kish the son of Abʹdi and Az·a·riʹah the son of Je·halʹle·lel; and from the Gerʹshon·ites,31 Joʹah the son of Zimʹmah and Eʹden the son of Joʹah;
  13. and from the sons of E·li·zaʹphan,32 Shimʹri and Je·uʹel; and from the sons of Aʹsaph,33 Zech·a·riʹah and Mat·ta·niʹah;
  14. and from the sons of Heʹman,34 Je·hiʹel and Shimʹe·i; and from the sons of Je·duʹthun,35 She·maiʹah and Uzʹzi·el.
  15. Then they gathered their brothers together and sanctified36 themselves and came according to the king’s commandment in the words37 of Jehovah, to cleanse38 the house of Jehovah.
  16. The priests now came inside the house of Jehovah to do the cleansing and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of Jehovah to the courtyard39 of the house of Jehovah. In turn the Levites received it to take it out to the torrent valley of Kidʹron40 outside.
  17. Thus they got started on the first [day] of the first month at sanctifying, and on the eighth day of the month they came to the porch41 of Jehovah; so that they sanctified the house of Jehovah in eight days, and on the sixteenth day of the first42 month they finished.
  18. ¶ After that they came inside to Hez·e·kiʹah the king and said: “We have cleansed the whole house of Jehovah, the altar43 of burnt offering and all its utensils,44 and the table45 of the layer bread and all its utensils.46
  19. And all the utensils47 that King Aʹhaz48 removed from employment during his reign in his unfaithfulness[b]49 we have prepared, and have sanctified50 them; and there they are before the altar of Jehovah.”
  20. ¶ And Hez·e·kiʹah51 the king proceeded to get up early52 and gather the princes53 of the city together and go up to the house of Jehovah.
  21. And they came bringing seven bulls54 and seven rams and seven male lambs and seven male goats as a sin offering55 for the kingdom and for the sanctuary and for Judah. So he said to the sons of Aaron the priests56 to offer them up upon the altar of Jehovah.
  22. Accordingly they slaughtered57 the cattle and the priests received the blood58 and sprinkled59 it upon the altar; after which they slaughtered the rams60 and sprinkled the blood61 upon the altar, and they slaughtered the male lambs and sprinkled the blood upon the altar.
  23. Then they brought the male goats62 of the sin offering near before the king and the congregation and laid their hands upon them.63
  24. The priests now slaughtered them and made a sin offering with their blood upon the altar, to make atonement for all Israel;64 because it was for all Israel65 that the king said the burnt offering and the sin offering [should66 be].
  25. ¶ Meantime, he had the Levites67 stationed at the house of Jehovah, with cymbals,68 with stringed instruments69 and with harps,70 by the commandment of David71 and of Gad72 the king’s visionary and of Nathan73 the prophet, for it was by the hand of Jehovah that the commandment was by means of his prophets.74
  26. So the Levites kept standing with the instruments75 of David, and also the priests with the trumpets.76
  27. ¶ Then Hez·e·kiʹah said to offer up the burnt sacrifice on the altar; and at the time that the burnt offering started, the song77 of Jehovah started and also the trumpets, even under the direction of the instruments of David the king of Israel.
  28. And all the congregation[c] were bowing78 down while the song was resounding79 and the trumpets were blaring—all this until the burnt offering was finished.
  29. And as soon as they finished offering it up, the king and all those found with him bowed low and prostrated themselves.80
  30. Hez·e·kiʹah the king and the princes81 now said to the Levites to praise Jehovah in the words of David82 and of Aʹsaph83 the visionary. So they began to offer praise even with rejoicing,84 and they kept bending down and prostrating themselves.85
  31. ¶ Finally Hez·e·kiʹah answered and said: “Now YOU have filled86 YOUR hand with power for Jehovah. Approach, and bring sacrifices87 and thanksgiving88 sacrifices to the house of Jehovah.” And the congregation began to bring sacrifices and thanksgiving sacrifices,89 and also every one willing of heart, burnt offerings.
  32. And the number of the burnt offerings that the congregation brought came to be seventy cattle, a hundred rams, two hundred male lambs—all these as a burnt offering to Jehovah;90
  33. and also the holy offerings, six hundred cattle and three thousand of the flock.
  34. Only the priests91 themselves happened to be too few, and they were not able to skin all the burnt offerings.92 So their brothers93 the Levites helped them out until the work was finished94 and until the priests could sanctify themselves, for the Levites95 were more upright96 of heart for sanctifying themselves than the priests.
  35. And, too, the burnt offerings97 were in great quantity with the fat98 pieces of the communion99 sacrifices and with the drink100 offerings for the burnt offerings. Thus the service of the house of Jehovah was prepared.101
  36. Consequently Hez·e·kiʹah and all the people rejoiced over the fact that the [true] God had made preparation for the people,102 because it was all of a sudden that the thing had occurred.103

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
