Chapter 25 of 2 ChroniclesNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ At the age of twenty-five years Am·a·ziʹah1 became king, and for twenty-nine years he reigned in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Je·ho·adʹdan2 of Jerusalem.
  2. And he continued to do what was right in Jehovah’s eyes,3 only not with a complete4 heart.
  3. And it came about that as soon as the kingdom had become strong upon him, he promptly killed5 his servants6 who had struck down the king his father.7
  4. And their sons he did not put to death, but [did] according to what is written in the law, in the book of Moses,8 that Jehovah commanded, saying: “Fathers should not die for sons,9 neither should sons themselves die for fathers;10 but it is each one for his own sin that they should die.”11
  5. ¶ And Am·a·ziʹah proceeded to collect Judah together and to have them stand according to the house of the forefathers,12 by the chiefs of thousands13 and by the chiefs of hundreds14 for all Judah and Benjamin; and he went on to register them from twenty15 years of age upward, and finally he found them [to be] three hundred thousand choice men going out to the army, handling lance16 and large shield.17
  6. Further, he hired from Israel a hundred thousand valiant, mighty men for a hundred silver talents.[a]
  7. And a certain man of the [true] God18 came to him, saying: “O king, do not let the army of Israel come with you, for Jehovah is not with Israel,19 [that is,] all the sons of Eʹphra·im.
  8. But come you yourself, act, be courageous for the war.20 The [true] God could cause you to stumble before an enemy; for there exists power with God[b] to help21 and to cause stumbling.”22
  9. At this Am·a·ziʹah23 said to the man of the [true] God: “But what is there to do about the hundred talents that I have given to the troops of Israel?”24 To this the man of the [true] God said: “There exists with Jehovah the means to give you much more than this.”25
  10. Accordingly Am·a·ziʹah separated them, namely, the troops that had come to him from Eʹphra·im, to go to their own place. However, their anger got very hot against Judah, so that they returned to their own place in the heat of anger.26
  11. ¶ And Am·a·ziʹah, for his part, took courage and proceeded to lead his own people and go to the Valley of Salt;27 and he went striking down the sons of Seʹir,28 ten thousand [of them].29
  12. And there were ten thousand that the sons of Judah captured alive. So they brought them to the top of the crag, and proceeded to throw them from the top of the crag; and they, one and all, burst apart.30
  13. As for the members of the troop whom Am·a·ziʹah had sent back from going with him to the war,31 they began making raids upon the cities of Judah, from Sa·marʹi·a32 clear to Beth-hoʹron,33 and went striking down three thousand of them and taking a great plunder.
  14. ¶ But it occurred after Am·a·ziʹah came from striking down the Eʹdom·ites that he now brought the gods34 of the sons of Seʹir and set them up for himself as gods,35 and before them he began to bow down,36 and to them he began to make sacrificial smoke.37
  15. Consequently Jehovah’s anger became hot against Am·a·ziʹah, and so he sent a prophet to him and said to him: “Why have you searched38 for the people’s gods39 that did not deliver their own people out of your hand?”40
  16. And it came about when he spoke to him that [the king] immediately said to him: “Was it a counselor of the king that we constituted you?41 Quit for your own sake.42 Why should they strike you down?” Accordingly the prophet quit, but he said: “I certainly know that God has resolved to bring you to ruin,43 because you have done this44 and you have not listened to my counsel.”45
  17. ¶ Then Am·a·ziʹah the king of Judah took counsel and sent to Je·hoʹash the son of Je·hoʹa·haz the son of Jeʹhu the king of Israel,46 saying: “Come! Let us look each other in the face.”47
  18. At that Je·hoʹash the king of Israel sent to Am·a·ziʹah the king of Judah, saying:48 “The thorny weed itself that was in Lebʹa·non49 sent to the cedar that was in Lebʹa·non, saying, ‘Do give your daughter to my son as a wife.’50 However, a wild beast51 of the field that was in Lebʹa·non passed by and trampled the thorny weed down.
  19. You have said to yourself, Here you have struck down Eʹdom.52 And your heart53 has lifted you up to be glorified.54 Now do keep dwelling in your own house.55 Why should you engage in strife in a bad position56 and have to fall, you and Judah with you?”57
  20. ¶ But Am·a·ziʹah did not listen; for it was from the [true] God58 for the purpose of giving them into his hand, because they had searched for the gods of Eʹdom.59
  21. So Je·hoʹash the king of Israel went up,60 and they proceeded to look each other in the face,61 he and Am·a·ziʹah the king of Judah, at Beth-sheʹmesh,62 which belongs to Judah.
  22. And Judah came to be defeated before Israel,63 so that they took to flight each one to his tent.[c]64
  23. And it was Am·a·ziʹah the king of Judah, the son of Je·hoʹash the son of Je·hoʹa·haz, that Je·hoʹash the king of Israel seized65 at Beth-sheʹmesh, after which he brought him to Jerusalem66 and made a breach in the wall of Jerusalem, from the Gate of Eʹphra·im67 clear to the Corner Gate,68 four hundred cubits.[d]
  24. And [he took][e] all the gold and the silver and all the articles that were to be found in the house of the [true] God with Oʹbed-eʹdom69 and the treasures of the king’s house70 and the hostages, and then returned to Sa·marʹi·a.71
  25. ¶ And Am·a·ziʹah72 the son of Je·hoʹash the king of Judah continued to live after the death of Je·hoʹash73 the son of Je·hoʹa·haz the king of Israel fifteen years.74
  26. As for the rest of the affairs of Am·a·ziʹah, the first and the last,75 look! are they not written in the Book76 of the Kings of Judah and Israel?77
  27. And from the time that Am·a·ziʹah turned aside from following Jehovah, they proceeded to form a conspiracy78 against him in Jerusalem. At length he fled to Laʹchish;79 but they sent after him to Laʹchish and put him to death there.80
  28. So they carried him upon horses81 and buried him with his forefathers in the city of Judah.[f]82

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
