Chapter 24 of 2 ChroniclesNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Seven years old was Je·hoʹash[a] when he began to reign,1 and for forty years he reigned in Jerusalem.2 And his mother’s name was Zibʹi·ah from Beʹer-sheʹba.3
  2. And Je·hoʹash4 kept doing what was right in Jehovah’s eyes5 all the days of Je·hoiʹa·da the priest.6
  3. And Je·hoiʹa·da proceeded to get two wives for him, and he came to be father to sons and daughters.7
  4. ¶ Now it occurred afterward that it became close to the heart of Je·hoʹash to renovate the house of Jehovah.8
  5. Accordingly he collected the priests9 and the Levites together and said to them: “Go out to the cities of Judah and collect money from all Israel to repair10 the house of YOUR God from year to year;11 and YOU, for YOUR part, should act quickly in the matter.” And the Levites did not act quickly.12
  6. So the king called Je·hoiʹa·da the head and said to him:13 “Why is it that you have not required an account of the Levites for bringing in from Judah and Jerusalem the sacred tax ordered by Moses14 the servant of Jehovah, even that of the congregation of Israel, for the tent of the Testimony?15
  7. For as regards Ath·a·liʹah the wicked woman, her sons16 themselves had broken into the house of the [true] God,17 and even all the holy18 things of the house of Jehovah they had rendered up to the Baʹals.”19
  8. Then the king said [the word], and so they made a chest20 and put it outside at the gate of the house of Jehovah.
  9. After that they issued a call throughout Judah and Jerusalem to bring to Jehovah the sacred tax21 ordered by Moses22 the servant of the [true] God[b] upon Israel in the wilderness.
  10. And all the princes23 and all the people began to rejoice,24 and they kept bringing and casting it into the chest25 until they all had given.
  11. ¶ And it came about at the proper time he would bring the chest to the care of the king by the hand of the Levites,26 and, as soon as they saw that there was plenty of money,27 the secretary28 of the king and the commissioner of the chief priest came and then emptied the chest and lifted it up and returned it to its place. That was the way they did from day to day, so that they gathered money in abundance.
  12. Then the king and Je·hoiʹa·da would give it to the doers29 of the work of the service of Jehovah’s house,30 and they came to be hirers of the stonecutters31 and of the craftsmen32 for renovating Jehovah’s house,33 and also of the workers in iron and copper for repairing Jehovah’s house.34
  13. And the doers of the work began operations,35 and the repair work kept advancing by their hand, and finally they made the house of the [true] God stand as it structurally should and made it strong.
  14. And as soon as they had finished they brought before the king and Je·hoiʹa·da the rest of the money, and they proceeded to make utensils for the house of Jehovah, utensils for the ministry36 and for making offerings and cups37 and utensils of gold38 and of silver; and they came to be offerers of burnt sacrifices39 in the house of Jehovah constantly all the days of Je·hoiʹa·da.
  15. ¶ And Je·hoiʹa·da got to be old and satisfied with years40 and gradually died, being a hundred and thirty years old at his death.
  16. So they buried him in the City of David along with the kings,41 because he had done good in Israel42 and with the [true] God and His house.
  17. ¶ And after Je·hoiʹa·da’s death the princes43 of Judah came in and proceeded to bow down to the king. At that time the king listened to them.44
  18. And gradually they left the house of Jehovah the God of their forefathers and began serving the sacred poles45 and the idols,46 so that there came to be indignation against Judah and Jerusalem because of this guilt of theirs.47
  19. And he kept sending prophets48 among them to bring them back to Jehovah; and they kept bearing witness[c] against them, but they did not give ear.49
  20. ¶ And God’s spirit50 itself enveloped[d]51 Zech·a·riʹah52 the son of Je·hoiʹa·da53 the priest, so that he stood up above the people and said to them: “This is what the [true] God has said, ‘Why are YOU overstepping the commandments of Jehovah, so that YOU cannot prove successful?54 Because YOU have left Jehovah, he will, in turn, leave YOU.’”55
  21. Finally they conspired against him56 and pelted him with stones57 at the king’s commandment in the courtyard of Jehovah’s house.
  22. And Je·hoʹash the king did not remember the loving-kindness that Je·hoiʹa·da his father had exercised toward him,58 so that he killed his son, who, when he was at the point of dying, said: “Let Jehovah see to it and ask it back.”59
  23. ¶ And it came about at the turn60 of the year a military force of Syria61 came up against him,62 and they began to invade Judah and Jerusalem. Then they brought all the princes63 of the people to ruin from among the people, and all their spoil they sent to the king of Damascus.64
  24. For it was with a small number of men that the military force of the Syrians made an invasion,65 and Jehovah himself gave into their hand a military force of very great number,66 because they had left Jehovah the God of their forefathers; and upon Je·hoʹash they executed acts of judgment.67
  25. And when they went away from him (for they left him with many diseases),68 his own servants conspired69 against him because of the blood70 of the sons[e] of Je·hoiʹa·da71 the priest; and they got to kill him upon his own couch, so that he died.72 Then they buried him in the City of David,73 but they did not bury him in the burial places of the kings.74
  26. ¶ And these were the conspirators against him: Zaʹbad75 the son of Shimʹe·ath the Amʹmon·it·ess and Je·hozʹa·bad the son of Shimʹrith the Moʹab·i·tess.
  27. As for his sons and the abundance of the pronouncement against him76 and the founding77 of the house of the [true] God, there they are written in the exposition[f] of the Book78 of the Kings. And Am·a·ziʹah79 his son began to reign in place of him.

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
