Chapter 24 of 1 SamuelNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ And it came about that, as soon as Saul returned from following the Phi·lisʹtines,1 they came reporting to him, saying: “Look! David is in the wilderness of En-geʹdi.”2
  2. ¶ And Saul proceeded to take three thousand chosen men3 out of all Israel and to go looking for David4 and his men upon the bare rocks of the mountain goats.5
  3. At length he came to the stone sheepfolds along the road, where a cave was. So Saul came in to ease nature,[a]6 while David and his men were in the parts of the cave7 farthest back, sitting down.
  4. And David’s men began to say to him: “Here is the day on which Jehovah does say to you, ‘Look! I am giving your enemy into your hand,8 and you must do to him just as it may seem good in your eyes.’”9 So David rose up and quietly cut off the skirt of the sleeveless coat that belonged to Saul.
  5. But it came about afterward that David’s heart kept striking10 him for the reason that he had cut off the skirt [of the sleeveless coat][b] that belonged to Saul.
  6. Hence he said to his men: “It is unthinkable, on my part, from Jehovah’s standpoint, that I should do this thing to my lord, the anointed[c]11 of Jehovah, by thrusting out my hand against him, for he is the anointed of Jehovah.”12
  7. Accordingly David dispersed his men with these words, and he did not allow them to rise up against Saul.13 As for Saul, he rose up from the cave and kept going on his way.
  8. ¶ So David rose up afterward and went out from the cave and called out after Saul, saying: “My lord14 the king!” At this Saul looked behind him, and David proceeded to bow low with his face to the earth15 and prostrate himself.
  9. And David went on to say to Saul: “Why do you listen to the words of man,16 saying, ‘Look! David is seeking your hurt’?
  10. Here this day your eyes have seen how Jehovah gave you today into my hand in the cave; and someone said to kill17 you, but I felt sorry for you and said, ‘I shall not thrust out my hand against my lord, for he is the anointed18 of Jehovah.’
  11. And, my father,19 see, yes, see the skirt of your sleeveless coat in my hand, for when I cut off the skirt of your sleeveless coat I did not kill you. Know and see that there is no badness20 or revolt in my hand, and I have not sinned against you, while you are lying in wait for my soul to take it away.21
  12. May Jehovah judge between me and you;22 and Jehovah must take vengeance23 for me from you, but my own hand will not come to be upon you.24
  13. Just as the proverb of the ancients says, ‘From the wicked ones wickedness will go forth,’25 but my own hand will not come to be upon you.
  14. After whom has the king of Israel gone out? After whom are you chasing? After a dead dog?26 After a single flea?27
  15. And Jehovah must become judge, and he must judge between me and you, and he will see and he will conduct the legal case28 for me and judge me [to free me] from your hand.”
  16. ¶ And it came about that, at the moment that David finished speaking these words to Saul, Saul proceeded to say: “Is this your voice, my son David?”29 And Saul began to raise his own voice and weep.30
  17. And he went on to say to David: “You are more righteous than I am,31 for it is you who have rendered me good,32 and it is I who have rendered you evil.
  18. And you—you have told today what good you have done in connection with me in that Jehovah surrendered me into your hand33 and you did not kill me.
  19. Now in the case where a man finds his enemy, will he send him away on a good road?34 So Jehovah himself will reward you with good,35 due to the fact that this day you have done it to me.
  20. And now, look! I well know that you will, without fail, rule as king,36 and that in your hand the kingdom of Israel will certainly endure.
  21. So now do swear to me by Jehovah37 that you will not cut off my seed after me and that you will not annihilate my name out of the house of my father.”38
  22. Accordingly David swore to Saul, after which Saul went to his home.39 As for David and his men, they went up to the place difficult to approach.40

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.
