Chapter 22 of 1 SamuelNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ So David proceeded to go from there1 and escape2 to the cave3 of A·dulʹlam;4 and his brothers and the entire house of his father got to hear of it and made their way down there to him.
  2. And all men in distress5 and all men who had a creditor6 and all men bitter in soul7 began to collect together to him,8 and he came to be a chief[a] over them;9 and there came to be with him about four hundred men.
  3. ¶ Later David went from there to Mizʹpeh in Moʹab and said to the king of Moʹab:10 “Let my father and my mother,11 please, dwell with YOU people[b] until I know what God will do to me.”
  4. Accordingly he settled them before the king of Moʹab, and they continued dwelling with him all the days that David happened to be in the inaccessible place.[c]12
  5. ¶ In time Gad13 the prophet said to David: “You must not keep dwelling in the inaccessible place. Go away, and you must come yourself into the land of Judah.”14 Hence David went away and came into the forest of Heʹreth.
  6. ¶ And Saul got to hear that David and the men that were with him had been discovered, while Saul was sitting in Gibʹe·ah under the tamarisk15 tree on the high place[d] with his spear16 in his hand and all his servants stationed about him.
  7. Then Saul said to his servants stationed about him: “Listen, please, YOU Benʹja·min·ites. Will the son of Jesʹse17 also give to all of YOU fields and vineyards?18 Will he appoint all of YOU chiefs of thousands19 and chiefs of hundreds?
  8. For YOU have conspired, all of YOU, against me; and there is no one disclosing it to my ear20 when my own son concludes [a covenant]21 with the son of Jesʹse, and there is no one of YOU having sympathy for me[e] and disclosing to my ear that my own son has raised up my own servant against me as a lier in ambush[f] the way it is this day.”
  9. ¶ At this Doʹeg22 the Eʹdom·ite, being stationed as he was over[g] the servants of Saul, answered and said: “I saw the son of Jesʹse come to Nob to A·himʹe·lech23 the son of A·hiʹtub.24
  10. And he proceeded to inquire25 of Jehovah[h] for him; and provisions26 he gave him, and the sword27 of Go·liʹath the Phi·lisʹtine he gave him.”
  11. At once the king sent to call A·himʹe·lech the son of A·hiʹtub the priest and all the house of his father, the priests that were in Nob.28 So all of them came to the king.
  12. ¶ Saul now said: “Listen, please, you son of A·hiʹtub!” to which he said: “Here I am, my lord.”
  13. And Saul went on to say to him: “Why have YOU men conspired against me,29 you and the son of Jesʹse, by your giving him bread and a sword, and there being an inquiry[i] of God for him, to rise up against me as a lier in ambush the way it is this day?”30
  14. At this A·himʹe·lech answered the king and said: “And who among all your servants is like David,31 faithful,32 and the son-in-law33 of the king and a chief over your bodyguard and honored in your house?34
  15. Is it today that I have started to inquire35 of God for him? It is unthinkable on my part! Do not let the king lay anything against his servant [and] against the entire house of my father, for in all this your servant did not know a thing small or great.”36
  16. ¶ But the king said: “You will positively die,37 A·himʹe·lech, you with all the house of your father.”38
  17. With that the king said to the runners39 stationed about him: “Turn and put to death the priests of Jehovah, because their hand also is with David and because they knew that he was a runaway and they did not disclose it to my ear!”40 And the servants of the king did not want to thrust out their hand to assault the priests of Jehovah.41
  18. Finally the king said to Doʹeg:42 “You turn and assault the priests!” Immediately Doʹeg the Eʹdom·ite43 turned and himself assaulted the priests and put to death44 on that day eighty-five men bearing an ephʹod45 of linen.[j]
  19. Even Nob46 the city of the priests he struck with the edge of the sword, man as well as woman, child as well as suckling and bull and ass and sheep with the edge of the sword.
  20. ¶ However, one son of A·himʹe·lech the son of A·hiʹtub, whose name was A·biʹa·thar,47 made his escape and went running away to follow David.
  21. Then A·biʹa·thar told David: “Saul has killed the priests of Jehovah.”
  22. At this David said to A·biʹa·thar: “I well knew on that day,48 because Doʹeg the Eʹdom·ite was there, that he would without fail tell Saul.49 I personally have wronged[k] every soul of the house of your father.
  23. Just dwell with me. Do not be afraid, for whoever looks for my soul looks for your soul, for you are one needing protection with me.”50

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
