Chapter 1 of 1 PeterNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Peter,[a] an apostle1 of Jesus Christ, to the temporary residents2 scattered about[b]3 in Ponʹtus, Ga·laʹti·a, Cap·pa·doʹci·a,4 Asia, and Bi·thynʹi·a, to the ones chosen5
  2. according to the foreknowledge of God the Father,6 with sanctification by the spirit,7 for the purpose of their being obedient and sprinkled8 with the blood of Jesus Christ:9
¶ May undeserved kindness and peace be increased to YOU.10
  3. ¶ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,11 for according to his great mercy he gave us a new birth[c]12 to a living hope13 through the resurrection14 of Jesus Christ from the dead,
  4. to an incorruptible and undefiled and unfading inheritance.15 It is reserved[d] in the heavens for YOU,16
  5. who are being safeguarded[e] by God’s power through faith17 for a salvation18 ready to be revealed19 in the last period of time.20
  6. In this fact YOU are greatly rejoicing, though for a little while at present, if it must be, YOU have been grieved by various trials,21
  7. in order that the tested quality[f] of YOUR faith,22 of much greater value than gold that perishes despite its being proved by fire,23 may be found a cause for praise and glory and honor at the revelation[g]24 of Jesus Christ.
  8. Though YOU never saw him, YOU love him.25 Though YOU are not looking upon him at present, yet YOU exercise faith in him and are greatly rejoicing with an unspeakable and glorified joy,
  9. as YOU receive[h] the end[i] of YOUR faith, the salvation of YOUR souls.26
  10. ¶ Concerning this very salvation a diligent inquiry and a careful search27 were made by the prophets who prophesied28 about the undeserved kindness meant for YOU.29
  11. They kept on investigating[j] what particular season30 or what sort of [season] the spirit31 in them was indicating concerning Christ[k]32 when it was bearing witness beforehand about the sufferings for Christ33 and about the glories34 to follow these.
  12. It was revealed to them that, not to themselves,35 but to YOU, they were ministering the things that have now been announced36 to YOU through those who have declared the good news to YOU with holy spirit37 sent forth from heaven. Into these very things angels are desiring to peer.[l]38
  13. ¶ Hence brace up YOUR minds for activity,[m]39 keep YOUR senses completely;40 set YOUR hope[n] upon the undeserved kindness41 that is to be brought to YOU at the revelation42 of Jesus Christ.
  14. As obedient children,[o] quit being fashioned43 according to the desires YOU formerly had in YOUR ignorance,
  15. but, in accord with the Holy One who called YOU, do YOU also become holy yourselves in all [YOUR] conduct,44
  16. because it is written: “YOU must be holy, because I am holy.”45
  17. ¶ Furthermore, if YOU are calling upon the Father who judges impartially[p]46 according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves with fear47 during the time of YOUR alien residence.48
  18. For YOU know that it was not with corruptible things,49 with silver or gold, that YOU were delivered[q]50 from YOUR fruitless form of conduct received by tradition from YOUR forefathers.
  19. But it was with precious blood,51 like that of an unblemished and spotless lamb,52 even Christ’s.53
  20. True, he was foreknown before the founding[r]54 of the world, but he was made manifest at the end of the times for the sake of YOU55
  21. who through him are believers in God,56 the one who raised him up from the dead57 and gave him glory;58 so that YOUR faith and hope might be in God.59
  22. ¶ Now that YOU have purified60 YOUR souls[s] by [YOUR] obedience to the truth with unhypocritical brotherly affection61 as the result, love one another intensely[t] from the heart.62
  23. For YOU have been given a new birth,63 not by corruptible,64 but by incorruptible65 [reproductive] seed,[u]66 through the word67 of [the] living and enduring68 God.
  24. For “all flesh is like grass, and all its glory is like a blossom of grass;69 the grass becomes withered, and the flower falls off,70
  25. but the saying of Jehovah[v] endures forever.”71 Well, this is the “saying,”72 this which has been declared73 to YOU as good news.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.
