Chapter 4 of 1 KingsNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ And King Solʹo·mon continued king over all Israel.1
  2. And these are the princes[a]2 that he had: Az·a·riʹah[b] the son of Zaʹdok,3 the priest;
  3. El·i·horʹeph and A·hiʹjah, the sons of Shiʹsha, secretaries;4 Je·hoshʹa·phat5 the son of A·hiʹlud, the recorder;[c]
  4. and Be·naiʹah6 the son of Je·hoiʹa·da was over the army,7 and Zaʹdok and A·biʹa·thar8 were priests;
  5. and Az·a·riʹah the son of Nathan9 was over the deputies, and Zaʹbud the son of Nathan was a priest, the friend10 of the king;
  6. and A·hiʹshar was over the household, and Ad·o·niʹram11 the son of Abʹda, over those conscripted for forced labor.12
  7. ¶ And Solʹo·mon had twelve deputies over all Israel, and they provided the king and his household with food. It would devolve upon each one to provide the food one month in the year.13
  8. And these were their names: The son of Hur, in the mountainous region of Eʹphra·im;14
  9. the son of Deʹker, in Maʹkaz and in Sha·alʹbim15 and Beth-sheʹmesh16 and Eʹlon-beth-haʹnan;
  10. the son of Heʹsed, in A·rubʹboth (he had Soʹcoh and all the land of Heʹpher);17
  11. the son of A·binʹa·dab, all the mountain ridge of Dor18 (Taʹphath, Solʹo·mon’s daughter, herself became his wife);
  12. Baʹa·na the son of A·hiʹlud, in Taʹa·nach19 and Me·gidʹdo20 and all Beth-sheʹan,21 which is beside Zarʹe·than22 below Jezʹre·el,23 from Beth-sheʹan to Aʹbel-me·hoʹlah24 to the region of Jokʹme·am;25
  13. the son of Geʹber, in Raʹmoth-gilʹe·ad26 (he had the tent villages of Jaʹir[d]27 the son of Ma·nasʹseh, which are in Gilʹe·ad;28 he had the region of Arʹgob,29 which is in Baʹshan:30 sixty large cities with wall and copper bar);
  14. A·hinʹa·dab the son of Idʹdo, in Ma·ha·naʹim;31
  15. A·himʹa·az, in Naphʹta·li32 (he, too, took Basʹe·math, Solʹo·mon’s daughter, as a wife);33
  16. Baʹa·na the son of Huʹshai, in Ashʹer34 and Be·aʹloth;
  17. Je·hoshʹa·phat the son of Pa·ruʹah, in Isʹsa·char;35
  18. Shimʹe·i36 the son of Eʹla, in Benjamin;37
  19. Geʹber the son of Uʹri, in the land of Gilʹe·ad,38 the land of Siʹhon39 the king of the Amʹor·ites,40 and of Og41 the king of Baʹshan,42 and there was one deputy [over all the other deputies] that were in the land.
  20. ¶ Judah and Israel were many, like the grains of sand that are by the sea for multitude,43 eating and drinking and rejoicing.[e]44
  21. ¶ As for Solʹo·mon, he proved to be ruler over all the kingdoms from the River[f]45 to the land of the Phi·lisʹtines and to the boundary of Egypt. They were bringing gifts and serving Solʹo·mon all the days of his life.46
  22. ¶ And Solʹo·mon’s food for each day[g] regularly proved to be thirty cor[h]47 measures of fine flour and sixty cor measures of flour,
  23. ten fat cattle and twenty pastured cattle and a hundred sheep, besides some stags48 and gazelles49 and roebucks and fattened cuckoos.
  24. For he was holding in subjection everything this side of the River,50 from Tiphʹsah to Gaʹza,51 even all the kings this side of the River;52 and peace53 itself became his in every region of his, all around.[i]
  25. And Judah54 and Israel continued to dwell in security,55 everyone under his own vine and under his own fig tree,56 from Dan to Beʹer-sheʹba,57 all the days of Solʹo·mon.
  26. ¶ And Solʹo·mon came to have forty thousand stalls of horses58 for his chariots59 and twelve thousand horsemen.
  27. ¶ And these deputies60 supplied food to King Solʹo·mon and everyone approaching the table of King Solʹo·mon, each one in his month. They left nothing lacking.
  28. And the barley and the straw for the horses and for the teams of horses61 they kept bringing to wherever the place might prove to be, each one according to his commission.62
  29. ¶ And God[j] continued giving Solʹo·mon wisdom63 and understanding[k]64 in very great measure and a broadness of heart,65 like the sand that is upon the seashore.66
  30. And Solʹo·mon’s wisdom was vaster67 than the wisdom of all the Orientals[l]68 and than all the wisdom of Egypt.69
  31. And he was wiser than any other man,[m] than Eʹthan70 the Ezʹra·hite and Heʹman71 and Calʹcol72 and Darʹda the sons of Maʹhol; and his fame[n] came to be in all the nations all around.73
  32. And he could speak three thousand proverbs,74 and his songs75 came to be a thousand and five.[o]
  33. And he would speak about the trees, from the cedar that is in Lebʹa·non76 to the hyssop77 that is coming forth on the wall; and he would speak about the beasts78 and about the flying creatures79 and about the moving things80 and about the fishes.81
  34. And they kept coming from all the peoples to hear Solʹo·mon’s wisdom,82 even from all the kings of the earth who had heard of his wisdom.83

      The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

    The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

      The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

      The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

      Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

      May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

      NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

    Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

    As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
    New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

    In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
    "There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
    And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
    "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

      Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

      As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

      Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

    Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

      Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

      Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

      I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

      I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

      What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

      We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

      Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

      Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
