Chapter 15 of 1 KingsNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ And in the eighteenth year of King Jer·o·boʹam1 the son of Neʹbat,2 A·biʹjam became king over Judah.3
  2. Three years he reigned in Jerusalem; and his mother’s name was Maʹa·cah4 the granddaughter[a] of A·bishʹa·lom.[b]5
  3. And he went on walking in all the sins of his father that he did prior to him; and his heart did not prove to be complete6 with Jehovah his God, like the heart of David his forefather.7
  4. For, on account of David,8 Jehovah his God gave him a lamp9 in Jerusalem by raising his son up after him and keeping Jerusalem in existence,[c]10
  5. because David did what was right in the eyes of Jehovah, and he did not turn aside from anything that He had commanded him all the days of his life,11 only in the matter of U·riʹah the Hitʹtite.12
  6. And warfare itself took place between Re·ho·boʹam[d] and Jer·o·boʹam all the days of his life.13
  7. ¶ As for the rest of the affairs of A·biʹjam and all that he did, are they not written in the book14 of the affairs of the days of the kings of Judah? There was warfare also that took place between A·biʹjam and Jer·o·boʹam.15
  8. Finally A·biʹjam lay down with his forefathers and they buried him in the City of David;16 and Aʹsa17 his son began to reign in place of him.
  9. ¶ In the twentieth year of Jer·o·boʹam the king of Israel, Aʹsa reigned as king of Judah.
  10. And forty-one years he reigned in Jerusalem; and his grandmother’s[e] name was Maʹa·cah18 the granddaughter of A·bishʹa·lom.19
  11. And Aʹsa proceeded to do what was right in the eyes of Jehovah, like David his forefather.20
  12. Accordingly he had the male temple prostitutes pass out of the land21 and removed all the dungy idols22 that his forefathers had made.23
  13. As for even Maʹa·cah24 his grandmother, he went on to remove her from [being] lady,25 because she had made a horrible idol to the sacred pole; after which Aʹsa cut down her horrible idol26 and burned it27 at the torrent valley of Kidʹron.28
  14. And the high places29 he did not remove.30 Nevertheless, Aʹsa’s heart itself proved to be complete with Jehovah all his days.31
  15. And he began to bring in the things made holy by his father and the things made holy by himself into the house of Jehovah, silver and gold and articles.32
  16. ¶ And warfare itself took place between Aʹsa and Baʹa·sha33 the king of Israel all their days.
  17. So Baʹa·sha the king of Israel came up against Judah and began to build Raʹmah,34 to allow no one to go out or come in to Aʹsa the king of Judah.35
  18. At that Aʹsa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of Jehovah and the treasures of the house of the king and put them in the hand of his servants; and King Aʹsa now sent them to Ben-haʹdad36 the son of Tab·rimʹmon the son of Heʹzi·on, the king of Syria,37 who was dwelling in Damascus,38 saying:
  19. “There is a covenant between me and you, between my father and your father. Here I have sent you a present39 of silver and gold. Come, do break your covenant with Baʹa·sha the king of Israel, that he may withdraw from me.”40
  20. Accordingly Ben-haʹdad listened to King Aʹsa and sent the chiefs of the military forces that were his against the cities of Israel and went striking down Iʹjon41 and Dan42 and Aʹbel-beth-maʹa·cah43 and all Chinʹne·reth, as far as all the land of Naphʹta·li.44
  21. And it came about that as soon as Baʹa·sha heard of it, he immediately quit building Raʹmah45 and continued dwelling in Tirʹzah.46
  22. And King Aʹsa, for his part, summoned all Judah47—there was none exempt—and they proceeded to carry the stones of Raʹmah and the timbers of it, with which Baʹa·sha had been building; and King Aʹsa began to build with them Geʹba48 in Benjamin, and Mizʹpah.49
  23. ¶ As for the rest of all the affairs of Aʹsa and all his mightiness and all that he did and the cities that he built, are they not written in the book50 of the affairs of the days of the kings of Judah? Only at the time of his growing old51 he got diseased in his feet.52
  24. Finally Aʹsa lay down with his forefathers53 and was buried with his forefathers in the City of David his forefather;54 and Je·hoshʹa·phat55 his son began to reign in place of him.
  25. ¶ As for Naʹdab56 the son of Jer·o·boʹam, he became king over Israel in the second year of Aʹsa the king of Judah; and he continued to reign over Israel two years.
  26. And he kept doing what was bad57 in the eyes of Jehovah and went on walking in the way of his father58 and in his sin with which he caused Israel to sin.59
  27. And Baʹa·sha60 the son of A·hiʹjah of the house of Isʹsa·char began to conspire against him; and Baʹa·sha got to strike him down at Gibʹbe·thon,61 which belonged to the Phi·lisʹtines, while Naʹdab and all Israel were besieging Gibʹbe·thon.
  28. So Baʹa·sha put him to death in the third year of Aʹsa the king of Judah and began to reign in place of him.62
  29. And it came about that as soon as he became king, he struck down all the house of Jer·o·boʹam. He did not let anyone breathing[f] remain of Jer·o·boʹam’s until he had annihilated them, according to Jehovah’s word that he had spoken by means of his servant A·hiʹjah the Shiʹlo·nite,63
  30. on account of the sins of Jer·o·boʹam with which he sinned64 and with which he caused Israel to sin [and] by his offensiveness with which he offended Jehovah the God of Israel.65
  31. As for the rest of the affairs of Naʹdab and all that he did, are they not written in the book66 of the affairs of the days of the kings of Israel?
  32. And warfare itself took place between Aʹsa and Baʹa·sha the king of Israel all their days.67
  33. ¶ In the third year of Aʹsa the king of Judah, Baʹa·sha the son of A·hiʹjah became king over all Israel in Tirʹzah for twenty-four years.68
  34. And he kept doing what was bad in the eyes of Jehovah69 and went walking in the way of Jer·o·boʹam70 and in his sin with which he caused Israel to sin.71

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
