¶ Laʹmech,9 - ¶ Noah,10
¶ Shem,11 Ham12 and Jaʹpheth.13 - ¶ The sons of Jaʹpheth were Goʹmer and Maʹgog14 and Maʹda·i15 and Jaʹvan16 and Tuʹbal and Meʹshech17 and Tiʹras.18
- ¶ And the sons of Goʹmer were Ashʹke·naz19 and Riʹphath[a]20 and To·garʹmah.21
- ¶ And the sons of Jaʹvan were E·liʹshah22 and Tarʹshish,[b]23 Kitʹtim24 and Roʹda·nim.[c]25
- ¶ The sons of Ham were Cush26 and Mizʹra·im,27 Put28 and Caʹnaan.29
- ¶ And the sons of Cush were Seʹba30 and Havʹi·lah and Sabʹtah31 and Raʹa·mah32 and Sabʹte·ca.33
¶ And the sons of Raʹa·mah were Sheʹba and Deʹdan.34 - ¶ And Cush himself became father to Nimʹrod.35 He it was that made the start in becoming a mighty one in the earth.36
- ¶ As for Mizʹra·im, he became father to Luʹdim37 and Anʹa·mim and Le·haʹbim and Naph·tuʹhim38
- and Path·ruʹsim39 and Cas·luʹhim40 (from among whom the Phi·lisʹtines41 went forth) and Caphʹto·rim.42
- ¶ As for Caʹnaan, he became father to Siʹdon43 his firstborn and Heth44
- and the Jebʹu·site45 and the Amʹor·ite46 and the Girʹga·shite47
- and the Hiʹvite48 and the Arkʹite and the Siʹnite49
- and the Arʹvad·ite50 and the Zemʹa·rite51 and the Haʹmath·ite.52
- ¶ The sons of Shem53 were Eʹlam54 and Asʹshur55 and Ar·pachʹshad56 and Lud57 and Aʹram,
¶ And Uz[d] and Hul and Geʹther and Mash.[e]58 - ¶ As for Ar·pachʹshad, he became father to Sheʹlah,59 and Sheʹlah himself became father to Eʹber.60
- ¶ And to Eʹber two sons were born. The name of the one was Peʹleg,[f]61 because in his days the earth[g] was divided; and the name of his brother was Jokʹtan.
- ¶ As for Jokʹtan, he became father to Al·moʹdad and Sheʹleph and Ha·zar·maʹveth and Jeʹrah62
- and Ha·doʹram and Uʹzal and Dikʹlah63
- and Oʹbal[h] and A·bimʹa·el and Sheʹba64
- and Oʹphir65 and Havʹi·lah66 and Joʹbab;67 all these were the sons of Jokʹtan.
- ¶ Shem,68
¶ Ar·pachʹshad,69
¶ Sheʹlah,70 - ¶ Eʹber,71
¶ Peʹleg,72
¶ Reʹu,73 - ¶ Seʹrug,74
¶ Naʹhor,75
¶ Teʹrah,76 - ¶ Aʹbram,77 that is to say, Abraham.78
- ¶ The sons of Abraham were Isaac79 and Ishʹma·el.80
- ¶ These are their family origins: Ishʹma·el’s firstborn Ne·baʹioth81 and Keʹdar82 and Adʹbe·el and Mibʹsam,83
- Mishʹma and Duʹmah,84 Masʹsa, Haʹdad85 and Teʹma,
- Jeʹtur, Naʹphish and Kedʹe·mah.86 These were the sons of Ishʹma·el.
- ¶ As for the sons of Ke·tuʹrah,87 Abraham’s concubine,88 she gave birth to Zimʹran and Jokʹshan and Meʹdan89 and Midʹi·an90 and Ishʹbak91 and Shuʹah.92
¶ And the sons of Jokʹshan were Sheʹba and Deʹdan.93 - ¶ And the sons of Midʹi·an were Eʹphah94 and Eʹpher and Haʹnoch and A·biʹda and El·daʹah.95
¶ All these were the sons of Ke·tuʹrah. - ¶ And Abraham came to be father to Isaac.96 The sons of Isaac were Eʹsau97 and Israel.98
- ¶ The sons of Eʹsau were Elʹi·phaz, Reuʹel99 and Jeʹush and Jaʹlam and Koʹrah.100
- ¶ The sons of Elʹi·phaz were Teʹman101 and Oʹmar, Zeʹpho[i] and Gaʹtam, Keʹnaz102 and Timʹna103 and Amʹa·lek.104
- ¶ The sons of Reuʹel were Naʹhath, Zeʹrah, Shamʹmah and Mizʹzah.105
- ¶ And the sons of Seʹir106 were Loʹtan and Shoʹbal and Zibʹe·on and Aʹnah107 and Diʹshon and Eʹzer and Diʹshan.108
- ¶ And the sons of Loʹtan were Hoʹri and Hoʹmam.[j] And Loʹtan’s sister was Timʹna.109
- ¶ The sons of Shoʹbal were Alʹvan[k] and Manʹa·hath and Eʹbal, Sheʹpho[l] and Oʹnam.110
¶ And the sons of Zibʹe·on were Aʹiah and Aʹnah.111 - ¶ The sons of Aʹnah were Diʹshon.112
¶ And the sons of Diʹshon were Hemʹdan[m] and Eshʹban and Ithʹran and Cheʹran.113 - ¶ The sons of Eʹzer114 were Bilʹhan and Zaʹa·van and Aʹkan.[n]115
¶ The sons of Diʹshan[o] were Uz and Aʹran.116 - ¶ And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Eʹdom117 before any king118 reigned over the sons of Israel: Beʹla the son of Beʹor, the name of whose city was Dinʹha·bah.119
- Eventually Beʹla died, and Joʹbab the son of Zeʹrah120 from Bozʹrah121 began to reign in place of him.
- Eventually Joʹbab died, and Huʹsham122 from the land of the Teʹman·ites123 began to reign in place of him.
- Eventually Huʹsham died, and Haʹdad124 the son of Beʹdad, who defeated Midʹi·an125 in the field of Moʹab, began to reign in place of him. And the name of his city was Aʹvith.126
- Eventually Haʹdad died, and Samʹlah from Mas·reʹkah127 began to reign in place of him.
- Eventually Samʹlah died, and Shaʹul from Re·hoʹboth128 by the River began to reign in place of him.
- Eventually Shaʹul died, and Baʹal-haʹnan the son of Achʹbor129 began to reign in place of him.
- Eventually Baʹal-haʹnan died, and Haʹdad[p] began to reign in place of him; and the name of his city was Paʹu,[q] and the name of his wife was Me·hetʹa·bel, the daughter of Maʹtred, the daughter of Meʹza·hab.130
- Eventually Haʹdad died.
¶ And the sheiks of Eʹdom came to be sheik Timʹna, sheik Alʹvah,[r] sheik Jeʹtheth,131 - sheik O·hol·i·baʹmah, sheik Eʹlah, sheik Piʹnon,132
- sheik Keʹnaz, sheik Teʹman, sheik Mibʹzar,133
- sheik Magʹdi·el, sheik Iʹram.134 These were the sheiks135 of Eʹdom.
