Chapter 9 of 1 ChroniclesNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ As for all Israelites, they were enrolled genealogically;1 and there they are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel. And Judah itself was taken into exile2 at Babylon[a] for their unfaithfulness.
  2. And the first inhabitants that were in their possession[b] in their cities were the Israelites,[c]3 the priests,4 the Levites5 and the Nethʹi·nim.[d]6
  3. And in Jerusalem7 there dwelt some of the sons of Judah8 and some of the sons of Benjamin9 and some of the sons of Eʹphra·im and of Ma·nasʹseh:
  4. Uʹthai the son of Am·miʹhud the son of Omʹri the son of Imʹri the son of Baʹni, of the sons of Peʹrez[e]10 the son of Judah.11
  5. And of the Shiʹlo·nites,[f]12 A·saiʹah the firstborn and his sons.
  6. And of the sons of Zeʹrah,13 Je·uʹel, and six hundred and ninety brothers of theirs.
  7. ¶ And of the sons of Benjamin, Salʹlu the son of Me·shulʹlam the son of Hod·a·viʹah the son of Has·se·nuʹah,
  8. and Ib·neʹiah the son of Je·roʹham, and Eʹlah the son of Uzʹzi the son of Michʹri, and Me·shulʹlam the son of Sheph·a·tiʹah the son of Reuʹel the son of Ib·niʹjah.
  9. And the brothers of theirs by their descendants were nine hundred and fifty-six. All these were men that were heads of the fathers by the house of their forefathers.
  10. ¶ And of the priests there were Je·daʹiah and Je·hoiʹa·rib and Jaʹchin,14
  11. and Az·a·riʹah15 the son of Hil·kiʹah the son of Me·shulʹlam the son of Zaʹdok the son of Me·raʹioth the son of A·hiʹtub, a leader[g] of the house of the [true] God,
  12. and A·daiʹah the son of Je·roʹham the son of Pashʹhur the son of Mal·chiʹjah, and Maʹa·sai the son of Adʹi·el the son of Jahʹze·rah the son of Me·shulʹlam the son of Me·shilʹle·mith16 the son of Imʹmer,
  13. and their brothers, heads of the house of their forefathers, a thousand seven hundred and sixty, mighty men of ability17 for the work of the service of the house of the [true] God.
  14. ¶ And of the Levites there were She·maiʹah the son of Hasʹshub the son of Az·riʹkam the son of Hash·a·biʹah18 from the sons of Me·rarʹi;
  15. and Bak·bakʹkar, Heʹresh and Gaʹlal, and Mat·ta·niʹah19 the son of Miʹca20 the son of Zichʹri21 the son of Aʹsaph,22
  16. and O·ba·diʹah the son of She·maiʹah23 the son of Gaʹlal the son of Je·duʹthun,24 and Ber·e·chiʹah the son of Aʹsa the son of El·kaʹnah, who was dwelling in the settlements of the Ne·tophʹa·thites.25
  17. ¶ And the gatekeepers26 were Shalʹlum27 and Akʹkub and Talʹmon and A·hiʹman and their brother Shalʹlum the head,
  18. and up till then he was in the king’s gate28 to the east. These were the gatekeepers of the camps of the sons of Leʹvi.29
  19. And Shalʹlum the son of Koʹre the son of E·biʹa·saph30 the son31 of Koʹrah32 and his brothers of the house of his father the Koʹrah·ites,33 over the work of the service, the doorkeepers34 of the tent, and their fathers over the camp of Jehovah, the keepers of the entryway.
  20. And it was Phinʹe·has35 the son of El·e·aʹzar36 that happened to be leader[h] over them in the past. Jehovah was with him.37
  21. Zech·a·riʹah38 the son of Me·shel·e·miʹah was the gatekeeper of the entrance of the tent of meeting.
  22. ¶ All of them who were selected as gatekeepers at the thresholds were two hundred and twelve. They were in their settlements39 by their genealogical40 enrollment. These David41 and Samuel the seer42 ordained[i] in their office of trust.43
  23. And they and their sons were over the gates of the house of Jehovah, even the house of the tent, for guard service.44
  24. It was to the four directions[j] that the gatekeepers came to be, to the east,45 to the west,46 to the north47 and to the south.48
  25. And their brothers in their settlements were to come in for seven49 days, from time to time, along with these.
  26. For in office of trust there were four mighty men of the gatekeepers. They were Levites, and they proved to be in charge of the dining rooms50 and of the treasures51 of the house of the [true] God.
  27. And all around the house of the [true] God they would spend the night; for guard52 service was upon them, and they were in charge of the key, even [to open up][k] from morning to morning.53
  28. ¶ And some of them were in charge of the utensils54 of the service, for it was by number that they would bring them in and it was by number that they would take them out.
  29. And some of them were men appointed over the utensils and over all the holy55 utensils and over the fine flour56 and the wine57 and the oil58 and the frankincense59 and the balsam oil.60
  30. And some of the sons of the priests were makers of the ointment61 mixture of balsam oil.
  31. And Mat·ti·thiʹah of the Levites, who was the firstborn of Shalʹlum62 the Koʹrah·ite, was in the office of trust over the things baked in pans.63
  32. And some of the sons of the Koʹhath·ites, their brothers, were in charge of the layer bread,64 to prepare it sabbath by sabbath.65
  33. ¶ And these were the singers,66 the heads of the fathers of the Levites in the dining rooms,67 those set free from duty;68 for by day and by night it was their responsibility to be in the work.69
  34. These were the heads of the fathers of the Levites by their descendants, headmen. These were the ones that dwelt in Jerusalem.70
  35. ¶ And in Gibʹe·on71 was where the father of Gibʹe·on, Je·iʹel, dwelt. And his wife’s name was Maʹa·cah.
  36. And his son, the firstborn, was Abʹdon, and Zur and Kish and Baʹal and Ner and Naʹdab,
  37. and Geʹdor and A·hiʹo and Zech·a·riʹah72 and Mikʹloth.
  38. As for Mikʹloth, he became father to Shimʹe·am. And it was really they that dwelt in front of their brothers in Jerusalem along with brothers of theirs.
  39. As for Ner,73 he became father to Kish;74 Kish, in turn, became father to Saul;75 Saul, in turn, became father to Jonʹa·than76 and Malʹchi-shuʹa77 and A·binʹa·dab78 and Esh·baʹal.79
  40. And the son of Jonʹa·than was Merʹib-baʹal.80 As for Merʹib-baʹal, he became father to Miʹcah.81
  41. And the sons of Miʹcah were Piʹthon and Melʹech and Tahrʹe·a [and Aʹhaz].[l]82
  42. As for Aʹhaz, he became father to Jaʹrah; Jaʹrah, in turn, became father to Alʹe·meth and Azʹma·veth and Zimʹri. Zimʹri, in turn, became father to Moʹza.
  43. As for Moʹza, he became father to Binʹe·a and Re·phaʹiah83 his son, El·e·aʹsah his son, Aʹzel his son.
  44. And Aʹzel had six sons, and these were their names: Az·riʹkam, Boʹche·ru and Ishʹma·el and She·a·riʹah and O·ba·diʹah and Haʹnan. These were the sons of Aʹzel.84

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
