Chapter 21 of 1 ChroniclesNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ And Satan[a] proceeded to stand up against Israel and to incite1 David to number Israel.
  2. So David said to Joʹab2 and the chiefs of the people: “Go, count3 Israel from Beʹer-sheʹba4 to Dan5 and bring it to me that I may know their number.”6
  3. But Joʹab said: “May Jehovah add to his people a hundred times as many as they are.7 Do they not, O my lord the king, all of them belong to my lord as servants? Why does my lord seek this?8 Why should he become a cause of guilt to Israel?”
  4. ¶ The king’s word,9 however, prevailed over Joʹab, so that Joʹab went out10 and walked through all Israel, after which he came to Jerusalem.11
  5. Joʹab now gave the number of the registration of the people to David; and all Israel amounted to a million[b] one hundred thousand men drawing sword,12 and Judah four hundred and seventy thousand men drawing sword.
  6. And Leʹvi13 and Benjamin he did not register in among them,14 because the king’s word had been detestable to Joʹab.
  7. ¶ Now this thing was bad in the eyes of the [true] God,15 and so he struck down Israel.
  8. Consequently David said to the [true] God: “I have sinned16 very much in that I have done this thing. And now, please, cause your servant’s error to pass away;17 for I have acted very foolishly.”18
  9. And Jehovah proceeded to speak to Gad,19 David’s visionary,20 saying:
  10. “Go, and you must speak to David, saying, ‘This is what Jehovah has said: “There are three things that I am directing against you.21 Choose for yourself one of them, that I may do it to you.”’”22
  11. Accordingly Gad went in to David23 and said to him: “This is what Jehovah has said, ‘Take your pick,
  12. whether for three years there is to be a famine;24 or for three months there is to be a sweeping away from before your adversaries25 and for the sword of your enemies to overtake [you], or for three days there is to be the sword of Jehovah,26 even pestilence,27 in the land, with Jehovah’s angel bringing ruin28 in all the territory of Israel.’ And now see what I should reply to the One sending me.”
  13. So David said to Gad: “It is very distressing to me. Please, let me fall into the hand of Jehovah,29 for very many are his mercies;30 but into the hand of man do not let me fall.”31
  14. ¶ Then Jehovah gave a pestilence32 in Israel, so that out of Israel seventy thousand persons fell.33
  15. Moreover, the [true] God sent an angel to Jerusalem to bring ruin to it;34 and as soon as he began bringing the ruin, Jehovah saw it and began to feel regret over the calamity;35 and so he said to the angel that was bringing the ruin: “It is enough!36 Now let your hand drop.” And Jehovah’s angel was standing close by the threshing floor of Orʹnan[c]37 the Jebʹu·site.38
  16. ¶ When David raised his eyes, he got to see Jehovah’s angel39 standing between the earth and the heavens with his drawn sword40 in his hand extended toward Jerusalem; and David and the older men, covered with sackcloth,41 at once fell down upon their faces.42
  17. And David proceeded to say to the [true] God: “Was it not I that said to make a numbering of the people, and is it not I[d] that have sinned and have unquestionably done bad?43 As for these sheep,44 what have they done? O Jehovah my God, let your hand, please, come to be upon me and my father’s house; but not upon your people,45 for a scourge.”
  18. ¶ And Jehovah’s angel, for his part, said to Gad46 to say to David that David should go up to erect an altar to Jehovah on the threshing floor of Orʹnan the Jebʹu·site.47
  19. Accordingly David went up at the word of Gad that he had spoken in the name of Jehovah.48
  20. Meantime, Orʹnan49 turned back and saw the angel; and his four sons with him were hiding themselves. Now Orʹnan had been threshing wheat.
  21. So David came as far as Orʹnan. When Orʹnan looked and saw David,50 he immediately went out of the threshing floor and bowed down to David with his face to the earth.
  22. Then David said to Orʹnan: “Do give me the place of the threshing floor, that I may build in it an altar to Jehovah. For the money51 in full give it to me,52 that the scourge53 may be halted from upon the people.”
  23. But Orʹnan said to David: “Take it as your own,54 and let my lord the king do what is good in his own eyes. See, I do give the cattle55 for burnt offerings and the threshing56 sledge for the wood57 and the wheat as a grain offering. The whole I do give.”58
  24. ¶ However, King David said to Orʹnan: “No, but without fail I shall make the purchase for the money in full,59 because I shall not carry what is yours to Jehovah to offer up burnt sacrifices without cost.”
  25. So David gave Orʹnan for the place gold shekels[e] to the weight of six hundred.60
  26. Then David built there an altar61 to Jehovah and offered up burnt sacrifices and communion sacrifices, and he proceeded to call upon Jehovah,62 who now answered him with fire63 from the heavens upon the altar of burnt offering.
  27. Moreover, Jehovah said the word to the angel,64 who accordingly returned his sword to its sheath.
  28. At that time, when David saw that Jehovah had answered him at the threshing floor of Orʹnan the Jebʹu·site, he continued to sacrifice there.65
  29. But the tabernacle of Jehovah that Moses had made in the wilderness and the altar of burnt offering were at that time on the high place at Gibʹe·on.66
  30. And David had not been able to go before it to consult God,[f] for he had been terrified67 because of the sword of Jehovah’s angel.

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
