Chapter 19 of 1 ChroniclesNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ And it came about afterward that Naʹhash1 the king of the sons of Amʹmon came to die, and his son began to reign in place of him.2
  2. At that David said: “I shall exercise loving-kindness3 toward Haʹnun the son of Naʹhash, because his father exercised loving-kindness toward me.”4 Accordingly David sent messengers to comfort him over his father, and the servants of David proceeded to come into the land of the sons of Amʹmon5 to Haʹnun to comfort him.
  3. However, the princes of the sons of Amʹmon said to Haʹnun: “Is David honoring your father in your eyes in that he has sent comforters to you? Is it not for the sake of making a thorough search and causing an overthrow and for spying6 out the land that his servants have come in to you?”7
  4. So Haʹnun took the servants of David8 and shaved them9 and cut their garments in half to their buttocks10 and sent them away.11
  5. Later people went and told David about the men; and he at once sent to meet them, because they had become men very much humiliated; and the king went on to say: “Dwell in Jerʹi·cho12 until YOUR beards grow abundantly. Then YOU must return.”
  6. ¶ In time the sons of Amʹmon saw that they had become foul-smelling13 to David, and Haʹnun14 and the sons of Amʹmon proceeded to send a thousand silver talents[a]15 to hire for themselves chariots16 and horsemen from Mes·o·po·taʹmi·a[b] and from Aʹram-maʹa·cah17 and from Zoʹbah.18
  7. Thus they hired for themselves thirty-two thousand chariots19 and the king of Maʹa·cah and his people.20 Then they came in and camped before Medʹe·ba;21 and as for the sons of Amʹmon, they gathered together from their cities and now came in for the war.
  8. ¶ When David heard of it, he immediately sent Joʹab22 and all the army [and] the mighty men.[c]23
  9. And the sons of Amʹmon began to go out and draw up in battle formation at the entrance of the city, and the kings24 that had come were by themselves in the open field.
  10. ¶ When Joʹab saw that the battle charges[d] had come to be against him from the front and from the rear, he at once chose some of all the choice men in Israel and drew them up in formation to meet the Syrians.25
  11. And the rest of the people he gave into the hand of A·bishʹai26 his brother, that they might draw up in formation to meet the sons of Amʹmon.27
  12. And he went on to say: “If the Syrians28 become too strong for me, you must also serve as a salvation for me;29 but if the sons of Amʹmon themselves become too strong for you, I must also save you.30
  13. Be strong,31 that we may show ourselves courageous in behalf of our people and in behalf of the cities of our God;32 and as for Jehovah, what is good in his own eyes he will do.”33
  14. ¶ Then Joʹab and the people that were with him advanced before the Syrians to the battle,34 and they took to flight35 from before him.
  15. As for the sons of Amʹmon, they saw that the Syrians had fled, and they themselves also took to flight36 from before A·bishʹai his brother and then came into the city.37 Later Joʹab came into Jerusalem.
  16. ¶ When the Syrians saw that they had been defeated38 before Israel, they proceeded to send messengers and bring out the Syrians that were in the region of the River,[e]39 with Shoʹphach[f] the chief of the army of Had·ad·eʹzer before them.
  17. ¶ When the report was made to David, he immediately gathered all Israel together and crossed the Jordan and came to them and drew up in formation against them.40 When David drew up in battle formation to meet the Syrians, they began to fight against him.
  18. But the Syrians took to flight41 because of Israel; and David went killing of the Syrians seven thousand charioteers and forty thousand men on foot, and Shoʹphach the chief of the army himself he put to death.42
  19. When the servants of Had·ad·eʹzer saw that they had been defeated before Israel,43 they promptly made peace with David and began to serve him;44 and Syria did not want to try saving the sons of Amʹmon anymore.45

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
