Chapter 15 of 1 ChroniclesNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ And he continued building houses1 for himself in the City of David; and he went on to prepare a place2 for the ark of the [true] God and pitch a tent for it.
  2. It was then that David said: “No one is to carry the ark of the [true] God but the Levites, for they are the ones whom Jehovah has chosen to carry the ark of Jehovah[a]3 and to minister4 to him to time indefinite.”
  3. Then David congregated all Israel at Jerusalem5 to bring the ark6 of Jehovah up to its place that he had prepared for it.
  4. ¶ And David proceeded to gather the sons of Aaron7 and the Levites;
  5. of the sons of Koʹhath, U·riʹel8 the chief and his brothers, a hundred and twenty;
  6. of the sons of Me·rarʹi,9 A·saiʹah10 the chief and his brothers, two hundred and twenty;
  7. of the sons of Gerʹshom,11 Joel12 the chief and his brothers, a hundred and thirty;
  8. of the sons of E·li·zaʹphan,13 She·maiʹah14 the chief and his brothers, two hundred;
  9. of the sons of Heʹbron, Eʹli·el the chief and his brothers, eighty;
  10. of the sons of Uzʹzi·el,15 Am·minʹa·dab the chief and his brothers, a hundred and twelve.
  11. Furthermore, David called Zaʹdok16 and A·biʹa·thar17 the priests, and the Levites U·riʹel,18 A·saiʹah19 and Joel,20 She·maiʹah21 and Eʹli·el22 and Am·minʹa·dab,
  12. and he went on to say to them: “YOU are the heads23 of the fathers of the Levites. Sanctify24 yourselves, YOU and YOUR brothers, and YOU must bring the ark of Jehovah the God of Israel up to the place that[b] I have prepared for it.
  13. Because at the first time YOU did not,25 Jehovah our God broke through against us,26 for we did not search after him according to the custom.”27
  14. So the priests and the Levites sanctified28 themselves to bring up the ark of Jehovah the God of Israel.
  15. ¶ Then the sons of the Levites began to carry29 the ark of the [true] God, just as Moses had commanded by Jehovah’s word, upon their shoulders with the rods upon them.30
  16. David now said to the chiefs of the Levites to station their brothers the singers31 with the instruments of song,32 stringed instruments33 and harps34 and cymbals,35 playing aloud to cause a sound of rejoicing to arise.
  17. ¶ Accordingly the Levites stationed Heʹman36 the son of Joel and, of his brothers, Aʹsaph37 the son of Ber·e·chiʹah; and, of the sons of Me·rarʹi their brothers, Eʹthan38 the son of Kush·aʹiah;
  18. and with them their brothers of the second division,39 Zech·a·riʹah,40 Ben and Ja·aʹzi·el and She·mirʹa·moth and Je·hiʹel and Unʹni, E·liʹab and Be·naiʹah and Ma·a·seiʹah and Mat·ti·thiʹah and E·liphʹe·le·hu and Mik·neʹiah, and Oʹbed-eʹdom41 and Je·iʹel the gatekeepers,
  19. and the singers Heʹman,42 Aʹsaph43 and Eʹthan, with the copper cymbals to play aloud;44
  20. and Zech·a·riʹah and Aʹzi·el45 and She·mirʹa·moth and Je·hiʹel and Unʹni and E·liʹab and Ma·a·seiʹah and Be·naiʹah with stringed instruments tuned to Alʹa·moth,[c]46
  21. and Mat·ti·thiʹah47 and E·liphʹe·le·hu and Mik·neʹiah and Oʹbed-eʹdom and Je·iʹel and Az·a·ziʹah with harps48 tuned to Shemʹi·nith,[d]49 to act as directors;
  22. and Chen·a·niʹah50 the chief of the Levites in carrying, he giving instruction[e] in carrying, for he was expert;51
  23. and Ber·e·chiʹah and El·kaʹnah the gatekeepers52 for the Ark;
  24. and Sheb·a·niʹah and Joshʹa·phat and Ne·thanʹel and A·maʹsai and Zech·a·riʹah and Be·naiʹah and E·li·eʹzer the priests loudly sounding the trumpets53 before the ark of the [true] God, and Oʹbed-eʹdom and Je·hiʹah the gatekeepers for the Ark.
  25. ¶ And David54 and the older men of Israel55 and the chiefs56 of the thousands came to be the ones walking along to bring up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah from the house of Oʹbed-eʹdom57 with rejoicing.58
  26. And it came about when the [true] God helped59 the Levites while carrying the ark of the covenant of Jehovah that they proceeded to sacrifice seven young bulls and seven rams.60
  27. And David was dressed in a sleeveless coat of fine fabric, and also all the Levites carrying the Ark and the singers and Chen·a·niʹah61 the chief of the carrying by the singers;62 but upon David there was an ephʹod63 of linen.
  28. And all the Israelites were bringing up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah with joyful shouting64 and with the sounding of the horn65 and with trumpets66 and with cymbals,67 playing aloud on stringed instruments and harps.68
  29. ¶ And it came about that, when the ark of the covenant69 of Jehovah came as far as the City of David, Miʹchal,70 Saul’s daughter, herself looked down through the window and got to see King David skipping about and celebrating;71 and she began to despise72 him in her heart.

      The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

    The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

      NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

    Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

    As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
    New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

    In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
    "There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
    And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
    "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

      Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

      As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

      Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

    Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.
