Chapter 11 of 1 ChroniclesNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ In time all the Israelites1 collected themselves together to David at Heʹbron,2 saying: “Look! We are your bone and your flesh.3
  2. Both yesterday and previously, even while Saul happened to be king, you were the one leading Israel out and bringing it in;4 and Jehovah your God proceeded to say to you, ‘You yourself will shepherd5 my people Israel, and you yourself will become leader6 over my people Israel.’”
  3. So all the older men[a] of Israel came to the king at Heʹbron and David concluded a covenant with them in Heʹbron before Jehovah; after which they anointed7 David as king over Israel, according to Jehovah’s word8 by means of Samuel.9
  4. ¶ Later David and all Israel went to Jerusalem,10 that is to say, Jeʹbus,11 where the Jebʹu·sites12 were the inhabitants of the land.
  5. And the inhabitants of Jeʹbus began to say to David: “You will not come in here.”13 Just the same, David proceeded to capture the stronghold of Zion,14 that is to say, the City of David.15
  6. So David said: “Anyone striking16 the Jebʹu·sites first, he will become head and prince.” And Joʹab17 the son of Ze·ruʹiah got to go up first, and he came to be head.
  7. And David took up dwelling in the place difficult to approach.18 That is why they called it the City of David.19
  8. And he began to build the city all around, from the Mound even to the parts round about, but Joʹab himself brought to life20 the rest of the city.
  9. And David went on getting greater and greater,21 for Jehovah of armies was with him.22
  10. ¶ Now these are the heads of the mighty23 men that belonged to David, holding strongly with him in his kingship together with all Israel, to make him king according to Jehovah’s word24 concerning Israel.
  11. And this is the list of the mighty men that belonged to David: Ja·shoʹbe·am25 the son of a Hachʹmon·ite, the head of the three.[b] He was brandishing his spear over three hundred slain at one time.26
  12. And after him there was El·e·aʹzar27 the son of Doʹdo the A·hoʹhite.28 He was among the three mighty men.29
  13. He it was that happened to be with David at Pas-damʹmim,30 where the Phi·lisʹtines had gathered themselves together for war. Now there happened to be a tract of the field full of barley, and the people, for their part, had fled because of the Phi·lisʹtines.31
  14. But he[c] took his stand in the middle of the tract and delivered it, and kept striking down the Phi·lisʹtines, so that Jehovah saved32 with a great salvation.33
  15. ¶ And three of the thirty34 head ones proceeded to go down to the rock, to David at the cave of A·dulʹlam,35 while a camp of the Phi·lisʹtines was camping in the low plain of Rephʹa·im.36
  16. And David was then in the place hard to approach;37 and a garrison of the Phi·lisʹtines38 was then in Bethʹle·hem.
  17. After a while David showed his craving and said: “O that I might have a drink39 of the water from the cistern of Bethʹle·hem,40 which is at the gate!”
  18. At that the three forced their way into the camp of the Phi·lisʹtines and drew water from the cistern of Bethʹle·hem, which is at the gate, and came carrying and bringing it to David.41 And David did not consent to drink it, but poured it out to Jehovah.42
  19. And he went on to say: “It is unthinkable on my part, as regards my God, to do this! Is it the blood43 of these men that I should drink at the risk of their souls?[d] For it was at the risk of their souls that they brought it.” And he did not consent to drink it.44 These are the things that the three mighty men did.
  20. ¶ As for A·bishʹai45 the brother of Joʹab,46 he himself became head of the three; and he was brandishing his spear over three hundred slain, and he had a reputation like the three.[e]
  21. Of the three[f] he was more distinguished than the two others, and he came to be a chief to them; and yet he did not come47 up to the [first] three.
  22. ¶ As for Be·naiʹah48 the son of Je·hoiʹa·da,49 the son of a valiant man, who did many deeds in Kabʹze·el,50 he himself struck down the two [sons] of Arʹi·el of Moʹab; and he himself descended and struck down a lion51 inside a waterpit in the day of snowfall.
  23. And he it was that struck down the Egyptian man, a man of extraordinary size, of five cubits.[g]52 And in the hand of the Egyptian there was a spear53 like the beam of loom workers; yet he went on down to him with a rod and snatched the spear away from the Egyptian’s hand and killed him with his own spear.54
  24. These things Be·naiʹah the son of Je·hoiʹa·da did, and he had a name among the three mighty men.
  25. Although he was more distinguished than the thirty, yet to the rank of the [first] three he did not come.55 However, David put him over his own bodyguard.56
  26. ¶ As for the mighty men of the military forces, there were Asʹa·hel57 the brother of Joʹab, El·haʹnan58 the son of Doʹdo of Bethʹle·hem,
  27. Shamʹmoth59 the Haʹro·rite, Heʹlez the Pelʹo·nite,60
  28. Iʹra61 the son of Ikʹkesh the Te·koʹite, Abi-eʹzer the Anʹa·thoth·ite,62
  29. Sibʹbe·cai63 the Huʹshath·ite, Iʹlai the A·hoʹhite,64
  30. Maʹha·rai65 the Ne·tophʹa·thite,66 Heʹled67 the son of Baʹa·nah the Ne·tophʹa·thite,
  31. Iʹthai the son of Riʹbai68 of Gibʹe·ah69 of the sons of Benjamin,70 Be·naiʹah the Pirʹa·thon·ite,71
  32. Huʹrai from the torrent valleys of Gaʹash,72 A·biʹel the Arʹbath·ite,
  33. Azʹma·veth the Ba·haʹrum·ite,73 E·liʹah·ba the Sha·alʹbo·nite,
  34. the sons of Haʹshem the Giʹzo·nite, Jonʹa·than74 the son of Shaʹgee the Harʹa·rite,
  35. A·hiʹam the son of Saʹcar75 the Harʹa·rite, E·liʹphal76 the son of Ur,
  36. Heʹpher the Me·cheʹrath·ite, A·hiʹjah the Pelʹo·nite,
  37. Hezʹro the Carʹmel·ite,77 Naʹa·rai the son of Ezʹbai,
  38. Joel the brother of Nathan,78 Mibʹhar the son of Hagʹri,
  39. Zeʹlek the Amʹmon·ite, Naʹha·rai the Be·rothʹite, the armor-bearer of Joʹab the son of Ze·ruʹiah,
  40. Iʹra the Ithʹrite, Gaʹreb79 the Ithʹrite,
  41. U·riʹah80 the Hitʹtite,81 Zaʹbad the son of Ahʹlai,
  42. Adʹi·na the son of Shiʹza the Reuʹben·ite, a head of the Reuʹben·ites, by whom there were thirty;

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
