Song of Solomon, Chapter 2
Song of Solomon 2 NASB - New American Standard BibleChapter 2 of Song of Solomon—New American Standard Bible (NASB)
- ¶ “[a]I am the [b]1rose of 2Sharon,
The 3lily of the valleys.” - ¶ “[c]Like a lily among the thorns,
So is 4my darling among the [d]maidens.” - ¶ “[e]Like an [f]5apple tree among the trees of the forest,
So is my beloved among the [g]young men.
In his shade I took great delight and sat down,
And his 6fruit was sweet to my [h]taste. - “He has 7brought me to his [i]banquet hall,
And his 8banner over me is love. - “Sustain me with 9raisin cakes,
Refresh me with [j]10apples,
Because 11I am lovesick. - “Let 12his left hand be under my head
And 13his right hand 14embrace me.” - ¶ “[k]I 15adjure you, O 16daughters of Jerusalem,
By the 17gazelles or by the 18hinds of the field,
19That you do not arouse or awaken my love
Until [l]she pleases.” - ¶ “[m]Listen! My beloved!
Behold, he is coming,
Climbing 20on the mountains,
Leaping on the hills! - “My beloved is like a 21gazelle or a 22young [n]stag.
Behold, he is standing behind our wall,
He is looking through the windows,
He is peering 23through the lattice. - ¶ “My beloved responded and said to me,
‘24Arise, my darling, my beautiful one,
And come along. - ‘For behold, the winter is past,
The rain is over and gone. - ‘The flowers have already appeared in the land;
The time has arrived for [o]pruning the vines,
And the voice of the 25turtledove has been heard in our land. - ‘The 26fig tree has ripened its figs,
And the 27vines in blossom have given forth their fragrance.
Arise, my darling, my beautiful one,
And come along!’” - ¶ “[p]O 28my dove, 29in the clefts of the [q]rock,
In the secret place of the steep [r]pathway,
Let me see your [s]form,
30Let me hear your voice;
For your voice is sweet,
And your [t]form is 31lovely.” - ¶ “[u]32Catch the foxes for us,
The [v]little foxes that are ruining the vineyards,
While our 33vineyards are in blossom.” - ¶ “[w]34My beloved is mine, and I am his;
He 35pastures his flock among the lilies. - “36Until [x]the cool of the day when the shadows flee away,
Turn, my beloved, and be like a 37gazelle
Or a young stag 38on the mountains of [y]Bether.”
