Book of Psalms, No. 68
Psalms 68 NASB - New American Standard BibleNo. 68 of the Psalms—New American Standard Bible (NASB)
- ¶ [a]Let 1God arise, [b]let His enemies be scattered,
And [c]let those who hate Him flee before Him. - As 2smoke is driven away, so drive them away;
As 3wax melts before the fire,
So let the 4wicked perish before God. - But let the 5righteous be glad; let them exult before God;
Yes, let them rejoice with gladness. - Sing to God, 6sing praises to His name;
[d]7Lift up a song for Him who 8rides through the deserts,
Whose 9name is [e]the LORD, and exult before Him. - ¶ A 10father of the fatherless and a 11judge [f]for the widows,
Is God in His 12holy habitation. - God [g]13makes a home for the lonely;
He 14leads out the prisoners into prosperity,
Only 15the rebellious dwell in a parched land. - ¶ O God, when You 16went forth before Your people,
When You 17marched through the wilderness, [h]Selah. - The 18earth quaked;
The 19heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God;
[i]20Sinai itself quaked at the presence of God, the God of Israel. - You 21shed abroad a plentiful rain, O God;
You confirmed Your inheritance when it was [j]parched. - Your creatures settled in it;
You 22provided in Your goodness for the poor, O God. - ¶ The Lord gives the [k]command;
The 23women who proclaim the good tidings are a great host: - “24Kings of armies flee, they flee,
And she who remains at home will 25divide the spoil!” - [l]When you lie down 26among the [m]sheepfolds,
You are like the wings of a dove covered with silver,
And its pinions with glistening gold. - When the Almighty 27scattered the kings [n]there,
It was snowing in 28Zalmon. - ¶ A [o]29mountain of God is the mountain of Bashan;
A mountain of many peaks is the mountain of Bashan. - Why do you look with envy, O mountains with many peaks,
At the mountain which God has 30desired for His abode?
Surely 31the LORD will dwell there forever. - The 32chariots of God are [p]myriads, 33thousands upon thousands;
[q]The Lord is among them as at Sinai, in holiness. - You have 34ascended on high, You have 35led captive Your captives;
You have received gifts among men,
Even among the rebellious also, that [r]the LORD God may dwell there. - ¶ Blessed be the Lord, who daily 36bears our burden,
37The God who is our salvation. Selah. - God is to us a 38God of deliverances;
And 39to [s]GOD the Lord belong escapes [t]from death. - Surely God will 40shatter the head of His enemies,
The hairy crown of him who goes on in his guilty deeds. - The Lord [u]said, “41I will bring them back from Bashan.
I will bring them back from the depths of the sea; - That [v]42your foot may shatter them in blood,
The tongue of your 43dogs may have its portion from your enemies.” - ¶ They have seen 44Your [w]procession, O God,
The [x]procession of my God, my King, [y]45into the sanctuary. - The 46singers went on, the musicians after them,
[z]In the midst of the 47maidens beating tambourines. - 48Bless God in the congregations,
Even the LORD, you who are of the 49fountain of Israel. - There is 50Benjamin, the [aa]youngest, [ab]ruling them,
The princes of Judah in their throng,
The princes of 51Zebulun, the princes of Naphtali. - ¶ [ac]Your God has 52commanded your strength;
Show Yourself strong, O God, 53who have acted [ad]on our behalf. - [ae]Because of Your temple at Jerusalem
54Kings will bring gifts to You. - Rebuke the 55beasts [af]in the reeds,
The herd of 56bulls with the calves of the peoples,
Trampling under foot the pieces of silver;
He has 57scattered the peoples who delight in war. - Envoys will come out of 58Egypt;
[ag]59Ethiopia will quickly stretch out her hands to God. - ¶ Sing to God, O 60kingdoms of the earth,
61Sing praises to the Lord, Selah. - To Him who 62rides upon the [ah]63highest heavens, which are from ancient times;
Behold, 64He [ai]speaks forth with His voice, a 65mighty voice. - 66Ascribe strength to God;
His majesty is over Israel
And 67His strength is in the [aj]skies. - [ak]O God, You are 68awesome from Your [al]sanctuary.
The God of Israel Himself 69gives strength and power to the people.
70Blessed be God!
