Book of Psalms, No. 10
Psalms 10 NASB - New American Standard Bible No. 10 of the Psalms—New American Standard Bible (NASB)
- ¶ Why 1do You stand afar off, O LORD?
Why 2do You hide [a]Yourself in times of trouble? - In 3pride the wicked [b]hotly pursue the afflicted;
[c]Let them be 4caught in the plots which they have devised. - ¶ For the wicked 5boasts of his 6heart’s desire,
And [d]the greedy man curses and 7spurns the LORD. - The wicked, in the haughtiness of his countenance, 8does not seek Him.
All his [e]thoughts are, “9There is no God.” - ¶ His ways [f]10prosper at all times;
Your judgments are on high, 11out of his sight;
As for all his adversaries, he snorts at them. - He says to himself, “12I will not be moved;
[g]Throughout all generations 13I will not be in adversity.” - His 14mouth is full of curses and deceit and 15oppression;
16Under his tongue is mischief and wickedness. - He sits in the 17lurking places of the villages;
In the hiding places he 18kills the innocent;
His eyes [h]stealthily watch for the [i]19unfortunate. - He lurks in a hiding place as 20a lion in his [j]lair;
He 21lurks to catch 22the afflicted;
He catches the afflicted when he draws him into his 23net. - He [k]crouches, he [l]bows down,
And the [m]unfortunate fall [n]by his mighty ones. - He 24says to himself, “God has forgotten;
He has hidden His face; He will never see it.” - ¶ Arise, O LORD; O God, 25lift up Your hand.
26Do not forget the afflicted. - Why has the wicked 27spurned God?
He has said to himself, “You will not require it.” - You have seen it, for You have beheld 28mischief and vexation to [o]take it into Your hand.
The [p]29unfortunate commits himself to You;
You have been the 30helper of the orphan. - 31Break the arm of the wicked and the evildoer,
[q]32Seek out his wickedness until You find none. - ¶ The LORD is 33King forever and ever;
34Nations have perished from His land. - O LORD, You have heard the 35desire of the [r]humble;
You will 36strengthen their heart, 37You will incline Your ear - To [s]vindicate the 38orphan and the 39oppressed,
So that man who is of the earth will no longer cause 40terror.
