Book of Proverbs, Chapter 10
Proverbs 10 NASB - New American Standard BibleChapter 10 of Proverbs—New American Standard Bible (NASB)
- ¶ The 1proverbs of Solomon.
¶ 2A wise son makes a father glad,
But 3a foolish son is a grief to his mother. - [a]4Ill-gotten gains do not profit,
But righteousness delivers from death. - The LORD 5will not allow the [b]righteous to hunger,
But He 6will [c]reject the craving of the wicked. - Poor is he who works with a negligent hand,
But the 7hand of the diligent makes rich. - He who gathers in summer is a son who acts wisely,
But he who sleeps in harvest is a son who acts shamefully. - 8Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
But 9the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. - The 10memory of the righteous is blessed,
But 11the name of the wicked will rot. - The 12wise of heart will receive commands,
But [d]a babbling fool will be [e]ruined. - He 13who walks in integrity walks securely,
But 14he who perverts his ways will be found out. - He 15who winks the eye causes trouble,
And [f]16a babbling fool will be [g]ruined. - The 17mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life,
But 18the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. - Hatred stirs up strife,
But 19love covers all transgressions. - On 20the lips of the discerning, wisdom is found,
But 21a rod is for the back of him who lacks [h]understanding. - Wise men 22store up knowledge,
But with 23the mouth of the foolish, ruin is at hand. - The 24rich man’s wealth is his [i]fortress,
The 25ruin of the poor is their poverty. - The [j]26wages of the righteous is life,
The income of the wicked, punishment. - He 27is on the path of life who heeds instruction,
But he who ignores reproof goes astray. - He 28who conceals hatred has lying lips,
And he who spreads slander is a fool. - When there are 29many words, transgression is unavoidable,
But 30he who restrains his lips is wise. - The tongue of the righteous is as 31choice silver,
The heart of the wicked is worth little. - The 32lips of the righteous feed many,
But fools 33die for lack of [k]understanding. - It is the 34blessing of the LORD that makes rich,
And He adds no sorrow to it. - Doing wickedness is like 35sport to a fool,
And so is wisdom to a man of understanding. - What 36the wicked fears will come upon him,
But the 37desire of the righteous will be granted. - When the 38whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more,
But the 39righteous has an everlasting foundation. - Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes,
So is the 40lazy one to those who send him. - The 41fear of the LORD prolongs [l]life,
But the 42years of the wicked will be shortened. - The 43hope of the righteous is gladness,
But the 44expectation of the wicked perishes. - The 45way of the LORD is a stronghold to the upright,
But 46ruin to the workers of iniquity. - The 47righteous will never be shaken,
But 48the wicked will not dwell in the land. - The 49mouth of the righteous flows with wisdom,
But the 50perverted tongue will be cut out. - The lips of the righteous bring forth 51what is acceptable,
But the 52mouth of the wicked what is perverted.
