Book of Micah, Chapter 6
Chapter 6 of Micah
“Arise, plead your case [a]before the mountains,
And let the hills hear your voice.
And you enduring 1foundations of the earth,
Because the 2LORD has a case against His people;
Even with Israel He will dispute.
And 5how have I wearied you? Answer Me.
And 7ransomed you from the house of slavery,
And I sent before you 8Moses, Aaron and 9Miriam.
What 10Balak king of Moab counseled
And what Balaam son of Beor answered him,
And from 11Shittim to 12Gilgal,
So [b]that you might know the 13righteous acts of the LORD.”
And bow myself before the God on high?
Shall I come to Him with 15burnt offerings,
With yearling calves?
In ten thousand rivers of oil?
Shall I present my 17firstborn for my rebellious acts,
The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
And 19what does the LORD require of you
But to 20do justice, to 21love [c]kindness,
And to walk [d]22humbly with your God?
And it is sound wisdom to fear Your name:
“Hear, O tribe. Who has appointed [e]its time?
Along with treasures of 23wickedness
And a [f]24short measure that is cursed?
And a bag of deceptive weights?
Her residents speak 27lies,
And their 28tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
30Desolating you because of your sins.
And your [h]vileness will be in your midst.
You will try to remove for safekeeping,
But you will 32not preserve anything,
And what you do preserve I will give to the sword.
You will tread the olive but will not anoint yourself with oil;
And the grapes, but you will 34not drink wine.
And all the works of the house of 36Ahab are observed;
And in their devices you 37walk.
Therefore I will give you up for 38destruction
And [i]your inhabitants for 39derision,
And you will bear the 40reproach of My people.”FOOTNOTES
