Book of Isaiah, Chapter 55
Chapter 55 of Isaiah
And you who have 2no [a]money come, buy and eat.
Come, buy 3wine and milk
4Without money and without cost.
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and 6eat what is good,
And 7delight yourself in abundance.
Listen, that [c]you may 9live;
And I will make 10an everlasting covenant with you,
According to the 11faithful mercies [d]shown to David.
A 13leader and commander for the peoples.
And a nation which knows you not will 15run to you,
Because of the LORD your God, even the Holy One of Israel;
For He has 16glorified you.”
18Call upon Him while He is near.
And the unrighteous man his 20thoughts;
And let him 21return to the LORD,
And He will have 22compassion on him,
And to our God,
For He will 23abundantly pardon.
Nor are 25your ways My ways,” declares the LORD.
So are My ways higher than your ways
And My thoughts than your thoughts.
And do not return there without watering the earth
And making it bear and sprout,
And furnishing 28seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
It will 30not return to Me empty,
Without 31accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
And be led forth with 33peace;
The 34mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you,
And all the 35trees of the field will clap their hands.
And instead of the 38nettle the myrtle will come up,
And [e]it will be a [f]39memorial to the LORD,
For an everlasting 40sign which 41will not be cut off.”FOOTNOTES
