- ¶ Thus says the LORD to 1Cyrus His anointed,
Whom I have taken by the right 2hand,
To 3subdue nations before him
And [a]to 4loose the loins of kings;
To open doors before him so that gates will not be shut: - “I will go before you and 5make the [b]rough places smooth;
I will 6shatter the doors of bronze and cut through their iron 7bars. - “I will give you the [c]8treasures of darkness
And hidden wealth of secret places,
So that you may know that it is I,
The LORD, the God of Israel, who 9calls you by your name. - “For the sake of 10Jacob My servant,
And Israel My chosen one,
I have also 11called you by your name;
I have given you a title of honor
Though you have 12not known Me. - “I am the LORD, and 13there is no other;
14Besides Me there is no God.
I will [d]15gird you, though you have not known Me; - That [e]16men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun
That there is 17no one besides Me.
I am the LORD, and there is no other, - The One 18forming light and 19creating darkness,
Causing [f]well-being and 20creating calamity;
I am the LORD who does all these. - ¶ “21Drip down, O heavens, from above,
And let the clouds pour down righteousness;
Let the 22earth open up and salvation bear fruit,
23And righteousness spring up with it.
I, the LORD, have created it. - ¶ “Woe to the one who 24quarrels with his [g]Maker—
An earthenware vessel [h]among the vessels of earth!
Will the 25clay say to the [i]potter, ‘What are you doing?’
Or the thing you are making say, ‘He has no hands’? - “Woe to him who says to a father, ‘What are you begetting?’
Or to a woman, ‘To what are you [j]giving birth?’” - ¶ Thus says the 26LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his [k]27Maker:
¶ “[l]28Ask Me about the things to come [m]concerning My 29sons,
And you shall commit to Me 30the work of My hands. - “It is I who 31made the earth, and created man upon it.
I 32stretched out the heavens with My hands
And I [n]ordained 33all their host. - “I have aroused him in 34righteousness
And I will 35make all his ways smooth;
He will 36build My city and will let My exiles go 37free,
Without any payment or reward,” says the LORD of hosts. - ¶ Thus says the LORD,
¶ “The [o]products of 38Egypt and the merchandise of [p]39Cush
And the Sabeans, men of stature,
Will 40come over to you and will be yours;
They will walk behind you, they will come over in 41chains
And will 42bow down to you;
They will make supplication to you:
‘[q]Surely, 43God is [r]with you, and 44there is none else,
No other God.’” - Truly, You are a God who 45hides Himself,
O God of Israel, 46Savior! - They will be 47put to shame and even humiliated, all of them;
The 48manufacturers of idols will go away together in humiliation. - Israel has been saved by the LORD
With an 49everlasting salvation;
You 50will not be put to shame or humiliated
To all eternity. - ¶ For thus says the LORD, who 51created the heavens (He is the God who 52formed the earth and made it, He established it and did not create it [s]a 53waste place, but formed it to be 54inhabited),
¶ “I am the LORD, and 55there is none else. - “56I have not spoken in secret,
In [t]some dark land;
I did not say to the [u]57offspring of Jacob,
‘58Seek Me in [v]a waste place’;
I, the LORD, 59speak righteousness,
60Declaring things that are upright. - ¶ “61Gather yourselves and come;
Draw near together, you fugitives of the nations;
62They have no knowledge,
Who 63carry about [w]their wooden idol
And 64pray to a god who cannot save. - “65Declare and set forth your case;
Indeed, let them consult together.
66Who has announced this from of old?
Who has long since declared it?
Is it not I, the LORD?
And there is 67no other God besides Me,
A righteous God and a 68Savior;
There is none except Me. - “69Turn to Me and 70be saved, all the ends of the earth;
For I am God, and there is no other. - “71I have sworn by Myself,
The 72word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness
And will not turn back,
That to Me 73every knee will bow, every tongue will 74swear allegiance. - “They will say of Me, ‘Only 75in the LORD are righteousness and strength.’
Men will come to Him,
And 76all who were angry at Him will be put to shame. - “In the LORD all the offspring of Israel
Will be 77justified and will 78glory.”
