Chapter 23 of 1 ChroniclesNew American Standard Bible (NASB)

  1. 1Now when David [a]reached old age, 2he made his son Solomon king over Israel.
  2. And he gathered together all the leaders of Israel with the priests and the Levites.
  3. 3The Levites were numbered from thirty years old and upward, and 4their number by [b]census of men was 38,000.
  4. Of these, 24,000 were 5to oversee the work of the house of the LORD; and 6,000 were 6officers and judges,
  5. and 4,000 were gatekeepers, and 74,000 were praising the LORD with the instruments which [c]David made for giving praise.
  6. David divided them into divisions 8according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
  7. ¶ Of the Gershonites were [d]Ladan and Shimei.
  8. The sons of Ladan were Jehiel the first and Zetham and Joel, three.
  9. The sons of Shimei were Shelomoth and Haziel and Haran, three. These were the heads of the fathers’ households of Ladan.
  10. The sons of Shimei were Jahath, [e]Zina, Jeush and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.
  11. Jahath was the first and Zizah the second; but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons, so they became a father’s household, one [f]class.
  12. ¶ The sons of Kohath were four: Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel.
  13. 9The sons of Amram were Aaron and Moses. And 10Aaron was set apart to sanctify him as most holy, he and his sons forever, 11to burn incense before the LORD, to minister to Him and to bless in His name forever.
  14. But as for 12Moses the man of God, his sons were named among the tribe of Levi.
  15. The sons of Moses were Gershom and Eliezer.
  16. The [g]son of Gershom was [h]Shebuel the chief.
  17. The [i]son of Eliezer was Rehabiah the chief; and Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.
  18. The [j]son of Izhar was [k]Shelomith the chief.
  19. The sons of Hebron were Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third and Jekameam the fourth.
  20. The sons of Uzziel were Micah the first and Isshiah the second.
  21. ¶ The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli were Eleazar and Kish.
  22. Eleazar died and had no sons, but daughters only, so their brothers, the sons of Kish, took them as wives.
  23. The sons of Mushi were three: Mahli, Eder and Jeremoth.
  24. 13These were the sons of Levi according to their fathers’ households, even the heads of the fathers’ households of those of them who were [l]counted, in the number of names by their [m]census, doing the work for the service of the house of the LORD, 14from twenty years old and upward.
  25. For David said, “The LORD God of Israel 15has given rest to His people, and He dwells in Jerusalem forever.
  26. Also, 16the Levites will no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all its utensils for its service.”
  27. For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were numbered from twenty years old and upward.
  28. For their office is [n]to assist the sons of Aaron with the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts and in the chambers and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of the house of God,
  29. 17and with the showbread, and 18the fine flour for a grain offering, and unleavened wafers, or 19what is baked in the pan or 20what is well-mixed, and 21all measures of volume and size.
  30. They are to stand every morning to thank and to praise the LORD, and likewise at evening,
  31. and to offer all burnt offerings to the LORD, 22on the sabbaths, the new moons and 23the fixed festivals in the number set by the ordinance concerning them, continually before the LORD.
  32. Thus 24they are to keep charge of the tent of meeting, and charge of the holy place, and 25charge of the sons of Aaron their [o]relatives, for the service of the house of the LORD.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.
