Book of Psalms, No. 88
No. 88 of the Psalms
¶ I have cried day and night before thee.
¶ Incline thine ear unto my cry.
¶ And my life draweth nigh unto Sheol.
¶ I am as a man that hath no help,
¶ Like the slain that lie in the grave,
¶ Whom thou rememberest no more,
¶ And they are cut off from thy hand.
¶ In dark places, in the deeps.
¶ And thou hast afflicted me with all thy waves. Selah
¶ Thou hast made me an abomination unto them:
¶ I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.
¶ I have called daily upon thee, O Jehovah;
¶ I have spread forth my hands unto thee.
¶ Shall [b]they that are deceased arise and praise thee? Selah
¶ Or thy faithfulness in [c]1Destruction?
¶ And thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?
¶ And in the morning shall my prayer come before thee.
¶ Why hidest thou thy face from me?
¶ While I suffer thy terrors I am distracted.
¶ Thy terrors have cut me off.
¶ They compassed me about together.
¶ And mine acquaintance [d]into darkness.FOOTNOTES
